[The scruffy, middle-aged man that appears on the screen looks a bit uncomfortable. Videochat is certainly not his preferred mode of communication on these devices, but he does figure it would be helpful to see his face for what he's posting on the network to say, so.]
Uh...hey. I'm Qrow. If you don't know me from Deerington, I'm a Huntsman. Which--mostly means I've fought a lot of monsters and sh--[hm. children.]...crap like that.
So anyway, it's halfway through October, and the streets aren't overflowing with blood and corpses, and far as I know nobody's gotten eaten by monsters or lost their mind and gone on a murdering rampage. But that probably just means the town's waiting for us to let our guard down.
[Or maybe that's just paranoia. But Qrow would rather err on the side of paranoia rather than complacence, considering his last October.]
Point is, now seems like as good a time as any to learn to defend yourself if you don't already know how to fight. I uh, I used to teach teenagers in a combat school, a few years ago? So I've got some experience.
...Don't expect a lot, I quit for a reason--[that reason being, honestly, Ruby getting admitted to Beacon a full two years early, but shhh]--but you can get the basics down.
So yeah. Let me know.

Monsters are easier, in a way. Most of them aren't intelligent.
[Fighting a thing which has only its instincts to rely on, however destructive those might be, is nothing like fighting a person with intentions and the ability to learn and plan on the fly.]
Shouldn't be too difficult to find some weaker monsters to practice against, if that's what you're looking for.

That would be perfect.

Come by my place first. I'd like to get an idea of your skill level before we head out.
[He's treating this more or less like the kind of mission an Academy student would have, with himself as the Professional Huntsman on hand in case things get messy, but it helps to know what tier of academy student he'd be equivalent to. Qrow would need to be more actively involved if the kid were something more like fresh out of combat school than a Beacon upperclassman, for instance.]

...Could you read that out, too? To make sure I got it right?
[Definitely not because he can't read, no glaring gaps in knowledge here!]

[He sees what's going on here, for sure. And makes a mental note to arrange for Oz to be conveniently present after some of these lessons so he can Just So Happen to invite him to have cocoa and find something that interests him in order to entice him to learn how to read. Qrow knows he doesn't have the kind of soft, gentle manner that can draw in a proud kid like this to ask for help, so he'll leave that to someone more capable.
In the meantime, he reads out the address, as though it were a perfectly natural thing to have been asked.]
See you soon, kid.
