What do we know about the Hunters?
[That’s it. That's the post.]
[Sorry, folks. We're used to getting our info from Sleepers, not the locals. And in the wake of October, in light of the words of the locals lately... Better to ask.]

In my experience thus far within the Hunters, it would appear the group operates upon a rather simple guiding ethos. That is to say, kill or be killed. The Beasts of this world are ruthless and fierce creatures which are not prone to hesitation. However, they do not seem to be entirely witless.
I have heard tell that many Beasts were once beings with humanity. Reverting their corruption does not seem to be within the Hunter's grasps.
I am henceforth curious if there is some way to tame or purge such an affliction. Killing such creatures seems to me both dangerous and inefficient. Are you interested in further exploration of this? It will likely pose significant risk to discover.
With sincere regards,
Ives

Just "Shiro" is fine... That's my name. It's okay.

Where we were before - the dream world - people could turn into monsters. But they could always come back. There was always a way to save them. If the dream was based on this world, why wouldn't it be the same here?
I'm honestly used to risks.

Well met Shiro,
I am unable to judge the Hunters too harshly for this policy of action. The Beasts pose a severe threat to any who cross their path. If they are allowed to cause further bloodshed, it shall only strengthen their numbers and ferocity. Extermination appears to be the only viable method at this time. However, a better solution can perhaps be reached with experimentation.
We will not know if we do not try.
Dreams are just what I am thinking to employ. The magic I have retained from my world allows me to compel sleep. Once under my thrall, I can craft dreamscapes with which their consciousness may interact. If there is humanity left within them, it may be possible to call it back through such a method. If they retain memory of who they once were, I may be able to reach it.
While I am not defenseless while using this magic, it does take my utmost composure to maintain. The Beasts I have bore witness too demand too much attention to combat and compel at once. I need to capture or distract one long enough search it's mind.
Sincerely,
Ives

But if you have a proven method, I wouldn't be opposed to trying.
Which it sounds like you do.
I'd need better weapons. I've only got one, and it's a bit ...
underwhelming at the moment. I think coming here's done something to it. But once I get that figured out, I can let you know. And we can try.

Greetings Shiro,
Such an antidote sounds ideal. If it can be recreated, that may yet be our best course for rescuing lost or near lost souls. Have you any recollection of the components?
My method is far from proven. My world functioned upon rules of Chaos and Order. This world does not appear to abide between such opposites. Using the abilities I have for this purpose is purely hypothetical. I will need time and I will need effort to test them appropriately. If I do find a way that is successful, further trouble may arise that I am but one Giant. Should more of my people not arrive with their powers in tact, I am limited to what I alone could accomplish. I may yet need to find a way that other Palebloods can use, which will take significant learning on my part.
Patience is required. Let me know if you find a method of trapping or staving off a Beast without killing it. The Hunters are death dealers, I need someone more even handed.
Sincerely,
Ives

Hi again,
I don't have the components, but I should still have an actual antidote left. I know a few people who can analyze a sample, maybe recreate it. I know he was able to back in the dream.
My
kidson is a Paleblood. I don't know if he's capable of that kind of thing, but if you'd like to talk to him, I can ask him.Sorry, I didn't mean to sound like I wanted to go out killing them. I just meant if you needed protection while you were working, I'd need to be better equipped. I don't feel confident I can do that with what I have right now. Last thing I want to do is run around murdering things. Or people.
Can I ask though? When you say "Giant", what does that mean in your world?

That is very fortunate. If it can be recreated, perhaps my methods will not be necessary, or they can be used in tandem to greater effect. The more options against this scourge the better. If some methods prove untenable, we may yet have a back up plan.
Hold off on telling others, if you will. I do not wish to give false hopes or build up expectations. If I can teach your son something that works, I will offer you right of first refusal, in exchange for your aid.
No need for apologies, seeing as I am killing the Beasts. As a Hunter, it is currently my duty and I will perform that duty well. However, I would wish to grow past such slaughter if it is truly a needless thing. We are pulling out a poison weed and causing two more to grow in it's place. We will be outpaced if we cannot adapt.
As for what a Giant is, I am a large breed splintered from the human root. I have the Blessing of Light within me, which allows me to compel sleep and control dreams. With that magic I can also retrieve and recreate memories.
There is more, but it feels self aggrandizing to ramble on. Are you yourself a human or something else, Shiro?
Sincerely,
Ives

Maybe... we'll have to go to the source in the end. To what causes people to turn out this way. If we can figure that out, maybe we'll have a better solution than just outright killing them.
Is that common where you're from? But, yeah. I'm human.
[More or less, depending on your view.]

If there is some manner of paralysis that could be used upon the beasts, that would be ideal. I would not want them put to sleep. That is what my magic already does, though it takes me time and focus to achieve. Something that could ensnare them and give me time to work is what I need most.
Do you believe there is some singular source to be found? I presumed it to be a disease or a force of nature at work.
As for humans, they are no longer common in the Above World of my homeland. I was human once upon a past life, so I respect their resilience. I take it that other realms, as this one is, are under the watch of differing Gods. You would not have the same Blessing of Fire as the humans of my world have, would you?
Sincerely,
Ives

I don't know. It's just a theory, from what I can tell. If it is a disease, then, maybe we can treat that, too. Vaccinations, or some kind of physical treatment.
Far as gods, I can't say. I know there's the Pthumerian Patrons here, they existed in the dream world, too. But... fire blessing? You might have to elaborate on that one, too. Sorry.

That sounds like a fine option. If he can come up with a suitable method, let me know.
As for the Blessing of Fire, it is a gift of magic all humans have. It grants humans a certain inner warmth, making them particularly appealing to those with more animalistic mindsets. It was granted to them by the Fire Dragon of Myddvai, who I doubt holds any sway in this place. These Pthumerians are powerful beings, but I've yet to meet one that seemed to rely upon charm.
Sincerely,
Ives

[Varian, yet another adopted child of his.]
If it's magic, then, no. I definitely don't have any kind of magic. I can give a decent speech, but no magic here. Other humans might, though. I know Mako could actually control fire, even before he arrived here. And his brother can do the same with rocks.
