My name is Nehan-- I'm researching how medicine works here, and how to merge it with the methods I'm used to. If my research goes well, for instance, I will be able to act as a doctor and pharmacist, among other roles found here.

To that end, I'm requesting samples of blood from fellow Sleepers. I understand it can be quite personal, so whoever does not want to do that need not respond. Those who do, so I can perform the phlebotomy myself, and can privately send you my address, and answer questions you may have.

Whoever wants to help but doesn't want a needle in their arm, I still have a job for you, if anyone is interested.

[very straight to the point, almost unwelcomingly so. but at least people know what they're getting into if they decide to deal with him?]

Of light? It may well be any color... [Ives may very well have a rainbow hue to his blood, if it is "stained".

More likely though, it won't have a color denotation, but will have the smell he described.]

[torpour]

I see. [well, it was worth a shot, but then again, he shouldn't expect other worlds to follow the same rules that his own has. he only needs to look at diluc as an example of that.

given the immense height difference between them, nehan decides to clamber onto the counter underneath the window, huffing and puffing until he seats himself comfortably on it.

then he holds out his hands, beckoning.]

Give me your arm-- whichever one you're more comfortable with getting pierced.

Wh- Hey- [Ives fusses a bit as the man strains to climb up onto the counter. He doesn't want to grab at him, but like-]

I, I could have just knelt down... [he sighs, obliging the order once Nehan is settled into place. He'll put forward his right arm since that's his non-dominant side. His skin is spattered with freckles and moles, but they're easy to avoid when he turns the arms to the underside, where they're largely around his wrist.

Beyond that, he's got well defined muscles and large veins, it shouldn't be difficult to find one to tap. He's not squeamish, no flinching from him]

[after making sure the arm is well underneath the moonlight, nehan swabs the crook of the man's elbow with cotton and alcohol to clean it.]

It's fine, I'm used to adjusting to the size of my patients. [though luckily, lately, it's just been children, and they're all small, whatever their race is.] And you wouldn't be the first one at this height.

[or overall build, really. nehan is just calm and comfortable, used to chatting as he preps the man's arm.]

I have come across a few tall or taller than I am. Less common here than my own world. I still have growing to do this life.

[Myddvai Giant's continue to get taller well into their early thirties, Ives only being twenty this time around. People don't seem able to clock his age as well here as they can back home, but then Giant's are one of the most common kind of people there.]

No others of Myddvai, though. You look rather like a Rahuth to me, though you'd have a different scent if that was so.

As long as I don't reek. [a small joke, as he strips the syringe of its packaging, depresses the plunger to squeeze out all the air, and sticks the needle into the man's elbow.

always best to use a conversation when sticking someone with a sharp, pointy little thing so they offer the least resistance.]

[Ives' eyes narrow when he's poked, more curious that alarmed, watching the needle. That's as close to a flinch as he'll do, he's stock still otherwise. Perhaps too tense, but he's looked like that even while walking up the street. He just holds his posture incredibly tight at all times.]

Hmm, no. The city smells so much of iron and blood that I can rarely pick up anything else.

[as Nehan draws his blood, there's no real visual difference from what Paleblood should look like traditionally. It already has a faint sheer in the moonlight, a soft rainbow edge at times. No tinting of gold as Nehan's sample has, when compared]

That's why I live here, rather than closer to the lamp. The smell alone might be enough for corruption. [because the smell is so strong, even nehan's iron-tight discipline wont help him not react to it. the stench of the waters sting his nose so much that he worries about nosebleeds whenever he visits that part of the district.

when he removes the syringe and caps it off, he presses a clean cotton bud to the puncture and tapes it there.]

You can remove this after an hour, make sure to dispose of it properly to avoid contamination.

[then he checks the status of the syringe, and is pleased to see that it's not red-- he harvested it properly, and now it's the signature milky color of paleblood.]

Understood. [Ives says simply, committing the direction to memory. He's no doctor and while he could do the most basic of field medicine and wound wrapping, he's not sure how well any of that works in this world. Having his blood drawn is less disturbing to him than actually seeing it, different than he's known in all his many lives. Paleblood... So strange.]

It does not appear stained to me, Doctor.

[torpour]

[nehan shrugs, and sets the syringe aside where it wont be easily knocked down as he shuffles off of the counter.]

Compared to mine, it's understandable. I cannot control my light magic, it just imbues my entire body, and everything I may use as a weapon. [and now his changed blood as well.

nehan begins to clean his tools, even if he didn't use them much. but he's become more stringent about following proper medical protocol in this place.]

Do you still have time? I want to ask some questions, and log a sheet for you here, so I have access to your information if you come back again.

[getsmy]

Far different from my blessing, indeed. The majority of my magic is held within my horns, beyond that it only effects my scent and taste.

[because flavor denotes magic and all. He is somewhat curious if that Paleblood sample would have the taste he's used to, but that's probably not best asked of Nehan to discover. He probably doesn't want to put it in his mouth... Ives can't much tell, himself.]

I do not have a patrol until morning. I can stay for some time longer.

[he can take his time then.

stripping off the gloves and cleaning up takes some time, but nehan knows how to work quickly and efficiently, and soon enough he's shaking his hands clean, and taking up his crutch again. thankfully, his left arm has managed to hang on in there rather than stay useless, making everything much easier on the erune.]

Come, let's just sit out there. [the living room, he means, waving his left hand towards the padded chairs, with a notebook on top of one of them. he'll leave the blood in his ice box, just to keep it fresh a little longer.]

[Ives follows along to living space, taking a seat where he's best suited to. If there's a stool or seat with no back, that's his first choice, as his tail can simply drape over the back. If not, he needs to sit rather far forward to make room, which just makes him appear far less comfortable and casual.

He has a casual tone and demeanor, but he holds himself to such a strict posture he looks nearly ready to spring at any moment. No wonder if phone ringing made him jump, he appears to be wound up tight as any spring ready to snap free.]

If I may be frank, I'm hoping I can return to you here for treatments should I require them. The blood healers do not give me great confidence. I would trust a fellow Sleeper far more. Might that be amicable to you, Doctor?

[torpour]

[luckily, nehan does have a few seats without solid backrests, clearly taken from a dining set that no longer has a table. rather, the table is in the kitchen, about to be used as the surface for many an experiment.]

That's fine by me. [the erune settles on the chair with the notepad, flipping to an unused page.]

The terms you made before... That's your payment, is it?

[getsmy]

Yes. If there are sexual services you care to explore, I can offer that. [said with a confident professionalism, he's honestly much less shy to offer as a payment than to just flirt with the man. He is attractive to Ives, he appears capable, so long as Ives is of interest to him than this is an easy deal.]

If not, I could try to find other means. Beastly components may be doable, if I slay any while on patrol and the corruption would not invite trouble.

[torpour]

[the erune shakes his head as he opens the notepad and pulls a pen from a pocket.]

No, your first offer is fine. We only need to fall back on the second if my body has decided that I'm now impotent. [but a quick check later when he's alone will tell him whether or not this is true.]

Now, questions-- Name? Full name preferred, but the alias you use in this world is fine as well.

Very well. [a nod and a swift answer to the question]

Ives. No house nor surname.

[like the username, he thinks-- that's fine, and he scrawls it onto the paper.]

Age? Gender? ... And race perhaps.

Age in this life-? I don't have an accurate total across them all.

[he's used to reincarnation well before the whole squid thing]

If so... 20. Male. My breed are known as Giants.

[torpour]

[nehan pauses in the middle of writing and looks up, a furrow in his brow. he did hear that right, but that's... well. that's something isn't it?]

All right then.

[either ives is under a delusion... or he has reincarnated for a while, and remembers everything. but nehan decides he'll operate under the latter being the truth, and scrawls his age as 20.]

I only need to know physical matters for now, in any case. Maybe that will change later, if I pursue Night Walker for instance, but for now, I just need this information for medical reasons.

Physical traits, then... if it's worth noting, I have the Faun body type of my people. We Giants have that or a Centaur structure. [if Nehan runs into any other fauns or centaurs, Ives would definitely care to know about it, he's not seen anybody else like him just yet, in that regard.]

For now I am roughly 221 centimeters tall at the tip of my horns. I'll continue to gain height for another decade. [so that might well change, he's not even all that tall yet for a Giant]

[nehan takes in the man's features before giving up, because that's just jargon he doesn't understand-- fauns, giants and centaurs are entirely different for him, but clearly they're... genetically similar? who knows. nehan doesn't.

Good. If you get any larger very quickly, I might not be able to keep up. I have limits to what I can take. [ives would be the height and build of a full-grown draph man... perhaps not the largest he's met, but still, draph man.] Stamina may be an issue... but you let me deal with that.

[Crassness, is it? Ives just quirks his head slightly, an ear flickering on just one side. Curious]

I'll just need to pay you back twofold, should I grow into a hassle to treat.

[torpour]

I'm trusting you not to break me. [but he doesn't sound worried at all. or even... worried at all. he still keeps that same, bland tone throughout. perhaps a little tired, but then again, everything about him radiates such a feeling.]

Any history of illnesses? In this life, I mean. Chronic health issues, hereditary health matters that might affect your blood?

[getsmy]

Likewise. [He'll probably be the one showing up battered, breaking him further would be more in Nehan's hands than anybody at that point. What Ives does in gratitude is another matter entirely, but likewise, at Nehan's fine discretion.]

None that effect me in my youth. My ankles go around one hundred and twenty, should I last that long. The longest I've ever lived is to one hundred fifty seven. And three days.

[did he add that last part just to be humorous? Difficult to say, he's so very stone faced that it could be a dry joke or it could be unintentional.]
