[At first, the image is that of just an absolutely giant stag. The stag's antlers are absolutely covered in songbirds, crows, ravens, and even a hawk, while a squirrel and chipmunk sit on his back next to a raccoon. And that's just some of the animals, there are creatures that look much meaner and nastier with infinitely harsher fangs and claws and mass. The stag huffs and shakes his head, the birds fly up for only a few seconds before going back to sitting on his antlers.]

...Now then, did I get it right this time?

[There are resounding tweets and chirps and squeaks and outright screeches from the animals.]

Oh! Wonderful!

[The picture turns around and then Snow White smiles bright and wide at the camera.]

Why hello there! It's so wonderful to meet you all! Or well, not meet you, not yet! [She giggles.] But I hope to meet you all properly soon.

My name is Snow White!

I was hoping someone here might have a very definite answer for a question I have! You see, I just arrived here not too long ago, but I'm not sure if this is the afterlife for all of us or not.

[Straight to the point this one.]

Some have said yes, others have said no! So I'm afraid I simply just don't know! I was so sure I was dead, after all, but what wonderful news it would be to know I'm not!

Would someone be so kind as to let me know? [Snow White asks all of this with a bright and cheerful smile. For a girl who thinks she's dead, she's frighteningly cheerful.

[To take pity on the new girl or not. That was the question. Whether tis nobler in the mind to suffer the doubts and worries of confusing ontology, or to go about her day...

Fine. She could practically Feel her wife coaxing her to try and be a better person. It was just a question. She could go train with the hunters in a half hour.]

For some it probably is, basically, because they're dead.
But it really isn't, not if you're thinking of some sort of heaven or hell.
It's just a weird place that we're living in, is all.

[Snow remains on video because talking is faster for her than attempting to type on this thing.]

Oh, I see... [That... unfortunately doesn't entirely solve her problem.] I suppose I am a part of that first group! [She is not.] I didn't think this was either of those places... But we're alive again?

[He pauses, then adds:]

Hey, I gotta warn you, but just ‘cause you died doesn’t mean you won’t get fuckin’ killed again. I know a couple people who’ve died, like, plenty of times, before we got here. Doesn’t tend to stick in places like this.

[And likewise, Neo would stick to video. If Snow White wanted to catch a look at her down the road, she'd have that chance, but Neo preferred her texts usually, though she didn't mind the videos back.]

Maybe, can't say for sure.
You're nobody I know from home after all.
Last I checked, quite alive for the next few minutes at least.
Some days, you can't ask for more.

[She wasn't going to get into the details of her last memories from home. That was the sort of conversation that deserved a bit more ... closeness.]

Hm? Oh! That would be because I bit into a poisoned apple my stepmother gave me. It came with me here, in fact.

And that's not Faramund who attracted them, I just asked if he would let our new little friends sit there after I called them over, and he said yes!

Oh dear! Well, it's important to stay positive, even on those sorts of days.

Trust me, even the most bubbly of us has a bit of a hounded side.

I'm pretty positive myself, considering everything.
This place is a major improvement over the last, and that was a step up from Vale.
So, I'll take it and make a home out of it.

Well, I'm glad you are in a much better place now. This is... well, I couldn't say if it's better or worse, but I'm safer here.

[Any place where her stepmother ISN'T is a vast improvement.]

Something that we can agree on right there.
I can handle the occasional monster or pirate on the fringe of town.
I've been fighting a lot of my life, after all, so I know it.
But this place is much much safer than Remnant.

[She had her stepmother, and Neo had Salem. Yeah, whether or not they knew it about each other, both their worlds were a lot less safe than this weird place.]

Oh! The pirates! Yes, I didn't get a chance to meet them but it must have been so interesting! I've never met a pirate before! I doubt my dwarfs would want me to! [She giggles.]

These weren't the "Story Book" sort of pirates.

Oh yes, she very much wants me dead. I'm really not sure what I did to upset her! But at first, she wanted my heart cut out and when the Huntsman was kind enough to let me live instead, she found where I was hiding in the woods and then poisoned me.

Animals were my very first friends growing up. I wasn't allowed to speak to anyone or they to me. But my stepmother didn't care about animals befriending me!

Storybook pirates? [Snow being from the 1500s is 1. Before the golden age of piracy, and 2. Never had access to storybooks anyways.]

I don't know what storybook pirates are.

This isn't the afterlife, although I would say we all went through a transformation before arriving. Also, a good amount of us knew each other in another town and we made a decision that brought us here.

But a lot of you guys are new too! Why would you think you died anyway?

[Luz, you totally wondered that yourself the first time you arrived in the Boiling Isles. You even thought you were in hell].

You could call this an "afterlife" if you want. [She even makes the finger quotes.] It's the life after your previous one. You had a life before and now you've got this one.

Now if you're asking if you're dead...? No one can tell you if you're dead or not. That's a personal thing.

[Yep, that was totally a thing. Huh. She was totally not used to dealing with people who didn't know about the idea of storybooks. Well, this would be fun.]

People romanticize Bandits and Pirates as these gallant, cut-throat showboats.
All dashing, debonair and really good at putting on a show while they rob some guy blind.
Pirates just do that with eye patches, parrots, grog and lots of singing.

These guys were just ugly and tentacled.
No style at all.
Could have taught them a thing or two.

I just said I don't know what storybook pirates are. But I thought we already realized I'm not from the same home as you, silly goose!

Oh my, well, it's not that there aren't people like that in stories, those just aren't the stories I prefer. [Look even Robin Hood was around in her era even if it wasn't popular like it was in England.]

But the poor dears, most people don't do such things for no reason! They usually are forced into such terrible situations.

Well, that part might be a bit of a problem. But I'm sure my stepmother isn't here! Or she'd have tried to kill me already! [She smiles.] She's very adamant about that, you see.

But when she hasn't used magic to change her appearance well, she's really very beautiful! She has sharp green eyes, really one of the fiercest gazes there is, pale skin, high cheekbones with a natural blush, long black hair when she doesn't keep it under her robes, full red lips, and she maintains her queenly air at all time.

As for why I'm rather sure why I'm dead, well, you see, my stepmother gave me a poisoned apple! It's even here with me, you see.

[Snow White mimics the finger quotes because she's never seen that motion before, tilting her head.] What a fun little gesture! What does it mean?

Oh, I'm dead, I'm really rather sure. My stepmother has been trying to kill me for... well, I'm not really sure how much time has passed now, but she initially tried to have the Huntsman cut my heart out.

Ouch. Shitty parents are the same no matter where they are, huh?

[She repeats the finger quotes though just to make sure she knows what Snow White is talking about.]

And this is just quotation marks. Like when you write something with emphasis to be sarcastic, or to make a point about thing.
