VIDEO | UN: SEEINGTHEWORLD - CW: Luca finding the parasites from the TDM, minor injury

[The video comes on. The feed is shaky, and the person holding whatever's being used to record seems to be backing up. But with what's on the feed, it's hardly surprising. It's a shot of the beach, and from the waves scurry dozens of fish on long, skinny insect legs.]

Sharks! What is that? What's wrong with those fish?

[Fortunately, there were no actual sharks coming out of the water, making it clear that he's using it as an expletive. Unfortunately, while all the fish are small, there are a lot of them and they're now racing toward him. Luca lets out a scream, and the viewers might see his tail whip into view of the camera to knock a few of the parasite filled fish away from him, making it clear that he likely was just in the water the parasite filled fish are now racing out of.]

Ohcarpohcarpohcarp get them away!

[With a final shrill cry, the 'camera' seems to get dropped to the ground and suddenly stops transmitting.]

[When it came to her housemates, Luz didn't even try to mess around: they were her family and she'd follow up until she was sure that they were safe. Strangely, thanks goodness Zib was there].

Varian's right. If something more messed up happens, it'll be better if we can see it unfold and then figure out what we can do about it.

[She won't deny it, that was pretty accurate].

Yeah...but I'm sure we'll figure this out if the parasites are leading to something bigger. If I am right about how my powers work, though, at least this gave me a chance to get my powers figured out before whatever comes next.

[Sure, he might have gotten a bit scraped up, but it's not as bad as it could be, and now he knows that skin contact while he's terrified will hurt his opponent. That could be useful.]

And at least this way you guys know not to touch me if I'm scared.

[He doesn't want to accidentally poison people the way Varian accidentally lights things on fire, after all.]

It does, that's... well it's a step in the right direction, and we didn't have that before. Progress!

[He offers an encouraging smile because even if a bad thing happened, it did mean something good came out of it. ]

We definitely know to do that now. And who knows, maybe I'll be able to get a sample of it and test it out?

[Varian, no. ]

Right, yes. I didn't know you could manage to protect yourself through your own blood! That's good to know!

[Did all Vilebloods have that ability? If so, why were they looked down on so much]?

VARIAN. Let's prioritize the safety of Luca first before we take samples, huh?

[Take samples? That's an excellent--oh. Luz doesn't like that idea.]

But can't we prioritize my safety and take samples? I'm sure we could find a way to scare me into secreting poison without it being too dangerous, right?

[Varian grins at Luca, then points at him, so Luz can see what's happening. In case she missed it.]

See? Luca thinks it's a good idea! And we can definitely do that. Like, you can have a safe, fun kind of scared too- like watching a horror movie or something.

Excuse me for trying to keep him from being used as a pin cushion!

[But if Luca was OK with it Luz was clearly outnumbered.

That does sound a lot better though. I guess that would be fine, as long as he's not hurt.

Of course I won't be hurt, it's Varian!

[And Luca knows Varian wouldn't hurt him, so he trusts anything he wants to do. Besides, science is cool.]

Or maybe we could make some kind of ride that moves super fast!

[...and now Luca's just trying to get Varian to reinvent roller coasters.]

See? I'm not gonna hurt Luca.

[Thanks for your enduring faith in him, Buddy!!]

Well! I am trying to make a car - that might be able to go relatively fast. [No, god, no.]

Are you absolutely sure about that?

[Luz was dubious, because someone had to be sure to be skeptical].

Fast? How fast? And will the road be OK to drive on?

[Luca, on the other hand, is way less cautious.]

That sounds like so much fun! How fast can it go? We should definitely try that! It doesn't lose control when you go down steep hills like you do with a bike, does it?

[...because he does at least have enough self preservation to want to make sure Varian still has control.]

Yeah, like...eighty per cent.

[Those are good odds, right? ]

I'm gonna be sure it can go fast enough to avoid any monsters, and make sure it has a good break and steering system. To avoid the whole...losing control issue. [He shrugs.] I'll figure out how to make the roads work.

What about the other twenty?

[Darn it Varian, you are making her the voice of reason and that is killing her a little bit].

Wait, how to make the "roads" work? Wouldn't it be easier to find a way to make the car adapt?

I mean, nothing's a hundred percent. And it's not as bad as the time Alberto and I were making fake vespas with no motors or breaks and riding them off cliffs and into the ocean.

[Granted, Luca had been pretty scared, but this is way better! It has breaks.]

See?! [He grins, pointing at Luca. Good boy, you're the best!] Luca gets it! We'll be fine! We'll figure it out as we go.

[OBVIOUSLY WOW!!]

And we won't be like...riding it off a cliff. And maybe, maybe other people will want cars, too! And then it will make much more sense to get good roads in place, right?

What?! Why would you even...you could have been...

[Luz broke off the lecture, remembering some of the stuff she did back home. So being young sometimes meant REALLY not getting there were things you couldn't do].

But how would you mass produce them? You'd need what Ford has back in the day, a whatchacllit, an assembly line.

[In response to Luz's obvious horror at Luca's former pastime, he explains.]

I mean, yeah, it was terrifying, but it was amazing when we were looking around at all the birds flying past us as we sailed through the air.

Until gravity took you anyway, right?

[He's way too chill about Luca flinging him and Alberto off cliffs, it's fine, they're obviously fine, he's not dead!]

I don't know what Ford is but I could just...make them? Like, I made an entire robot army once. [Oh oops, he hasn't told Luca that story yet, oops. He clears his throat.] So....y'know. I can handle it.

[Why. Just. Why are you guys like this.

Oh wait, she was like that too. Pfft, details].

I'm glad you guys made it in one piece! That, you know, you lived.

A robot. Army. Did I miss these when I was in your lab?

Yeah...

[Luca smiles, thinking of Alberto jumping off of things saying just that.]

You know, he always used to say that when he'd jump off of things.

[And for the next few seconds, Luca's just going to be here staring off dreamily as he thinks about Alberto until he finally notices...]

Wait, did you say robot army? Mother of pearl, that's amazing! Is it here?

[Because they're stupid boys, Luz. Because they're stupid, stupid boys.]

See? They lived! He even says it himself.

[That's what matters, obviously. At the robot question, his smile fades, a touch, he clears his throat awkwardly.]

Oh um...they were a back home thing. And...one time a Deerington thing, but I try not to make those anymore. Because uh... reasons.

[That's not weird or awkward AT ALL. ]

[And Luz used to be fine with something like this! Oh no, was she getting more responsible? Perish the thought]!

If that had been Rapunzel, would you feel that fine with it?

[Think about these things! Plus, Alberto and Luca were kids! They could have died]!

And "reasons" is definitely more than enough. But if you can make an assembly line for non-sentient stuff, maybe that might make things easier?

Luz, it's fine. I mean, you have to take risks sometimes, right?

[After all, he went to the human town. That was far more dangerous than any cliff jumping or car riding.]

I still think the robot army sounds amazing...but yeah. I'm sure there's a good reason to not build another robot army.

[He can't imagine what that would be, but he also doesn't want to pry.]

Rapunzel's done way more dangerous stuff like that and also has indestructible magical hair. She would have been fine.

[It would take MUCH MORE than diving off a cliff to hurt Rapunzel. Wow, Luz, wow.]

There's a very good reason, yeah. But the car will be fine, not dangerous or murder-y at all!

Well maybe Rapunzel's magic all her own, hair and all.

[Look, she knew she wasn't going to get them to see things her way, which she was beginning to understand was different from what she would have done herself at the time. She was just going to have to be happy Alberto and Luca didn't die.

Also, Rapunzel just had crazy princess powers that were just constantly at odds with dying, like Snow White].

I'll believe that when we see the car in action, Varian. I guess I'll have faith you'll make it safe and not at all having it risking our life.
