[It had been nearly a week, and Oscar was becoming worried.

Lessons he has learned on the other side of the Dream had taught him that sitting in the worry and letting it overcome him did no one any good-- least of all himself. Knowing this, Oscar tentatively turned on the Audio function of his new device and, with an obvious case of awkward nerves, started talking.]

Um... Hi.

I'm Oscar Pine and... I'm sure some of you know me already, but some of you don't and that's okay.

There was just a couple of things I wanted to say.

First: I know that things have been stressful lately and that we all need something to do, so I'm willing to teach people how to garden if they want a hobby that lasts a little longer than baking all the time. I'm a farmhand... And I did the baking thing. Growing and taking care of your own vegetables helps a little more, for a longer time.

And-- you can share your extra zucchini with your friends and loved ones. Isn't that cool?

I managed to bring along some seeds to get started. Just... Contact me if you're interested.

Second: is anyone else having trouble sleeping since they got here? I know being nervous makes sleeping hard, but this feels different. Anyone have any ideas about why this is happening, or how to help?

Last: ... I don't know about everyone else, but there's still some people I'm looking for that haven't come ashore yet. Can people just...chime in to let everyone know that they're safe? And let us know if there's anyone else you're looking for?

Maybe we can make everything a little easier if we work together. I don't know...

I'm just kinda worried, and some of you all probably are too.

I've been thinking about it for while, since I was helping to run the bakery in Deerington and apparently it's something I'm going to do when I go home eventually. I just have to find the right place.

But people learn a lot better when they're not hungry. And you can teach people a lot more about cooking if you have a kitchen.

But if you have your own goal and dream there's nothing wrong with chasing it.

It is pretty unsettling. [Makoto still wasn't entirely comfortable, and hearing the name for it had only made the matter worse for this Vileblood.]

[It was part of the reason why Oscar was obsessively making casseroles for a while. Desperate times, geniuses who didn't take care of themselves, and food shortages all converged to make one Very Anxious and Very Eager To Cook teenager. Feeding his friends was the only way he knew how to help them for several months.]

If you want to work together, I think it might be a great idea. We can even grow herbs or fruits you can use for your bakery. Muffins made with blueberries that everyone grew together?

That would be so cool.

Sure, we had all kind of things we'd grow for the gardening club at school. And I had a small herb garden in my apartment before too.

[It did make for some of the best ingredients when they were fresh.]

Oh, so you're Miss Makoto!

[He beamed, glad to have found and met her so quickly and easily.]

I met a friend of your's who said we should talk. Blonde hair, big smile...

[It was vague, but Usagi was unmistakable.]

I've worked mostly on tending grain crops or small kitchen gardens. Managing something like this isn't something I've really tried before. But, maybe your experience with school clubs will be a help here! This kinda is like a club, when you think about it.

Sounds like you ran into Usagi, though pretty much everyone has at one point.

[Usagi had a way of drawing everyone in, her gravitational pull just making it impossible to keep away. But Makoto still loved her for it, and really she had the boundless energy for it, so having friends was a good thing.]

We actually live together. But I'd be glad to help out if you need it, I should have plenty of time, and I do have experience because of the club.

[Oscar had somehow managed to not officially meet her until now. A year in Deerington, their lives circling around overlapping groups of people (including Rei Hino) had somehow kept them apart by circumstance alone. A meeting at any point would have been inevitable.]

I think we're all gonna have plenty of time right now, until we find our footing. I'll take any help you can offer, to tell the truth. The more the merrier.. and, I don't know about you, but I'd like to find a way to help us avoid the food supply problems we've had in recent months.

Maybe this will help.

Yeah it was pretty rough, but even then I couldn't really get anything to grow. So we had to be pretty sparring in what we used, and luckily I was able to make preserves and dry a few things before they went back then.

But you're right, the more people we have working together the better it will be.
