Good morning, Trench! [Michael seems pleased with himself today!] I'm here to announce the grand opening of a brand-new boutique - the ~Garb Place~!

[He claps his hands together and then spreads them, creating a little shower of golden magic sparkles. The camera swings around briefly, showing a panoramic view of a small shop interior, before returning to Michael.]

That's right! I've decided to use my incredible reality-bending abilities to make clothes! All custom orders, so literally whatever you want. Within reason, I guess, but I've still got enough power here to make that a pretty broad category. Ah, and I've also got some jewelry I made when I was bored, and some drinks and small cakes.

[The camera turns briefly - oh, it looks like there's just a little area in the boutique to Chill. Including, yes, small cakes.]

Those are...I don't know, those are free if you want to just hang out. I'm a little bored here, and I feel like having a shop does mean being in the shop for large portions of the day. That's a little weird...

Anyway - I feel like this city really needs a little brightening up. I understand if people want practical clothing, but it doesn't need to all be black. And hey, it's fun! Check this out!

[Time to view some ads! These are all just pictures of Usagi in flashy, fancy dresses. Very couture. It's not actually very much like a traditional fashion shoot - Michael really doesn't have or understand that whole male-gaze-y affair - but it does look like they had a ton of fun taking the photos! She's probably stage-fighting with swords or something in some of them. It was a whole thing.]

Now - for this month, I'm offering a special discount on full-coverage outfits. They're very in right now, apparently due to all of the potentially deadly mushroom spores floating through the air. I've even made a few hats!

[The camera turns about to show off a few fancy veiled hats, except that the veils are clearly designed to cover the entire face, and are rather more like sheer fabric than netting.]

Honestly, if you don't have anything good to wear, just let me know and we'll work something out. Sounds like it's getting more dangerous out there. Cover up, stay safe. And drop by if you want to look at clothes and eat little cakes!

Oh - yeah, there's some famous horror movie, where the elevator in a hotel opens up and a tidal wave of blood comes out. I'm not really sure why that one's scary...it's not like it's anyone's blood in particular.

[Like, sure, he gets the mortality thing, but that was just random free-floating blood. Also maybe a hallucination? It's possible Michael has not seen this movie.]

[ ... she's sadly never seen that movie, sorry. so she can't even relate or understand the reference. ]

Well, if it's a tidal wave of blood, then maybe it's fear of drowning in so much blood? That sounds more gross than scary, if I were to be asked.

That could be. I think there's a kid in that movie, and you really wouldn't need much blood at all to drown a kid.

[He says with a disturbing amount of confidence?]

And the kid couldn't swim? Blood has the same density as water, so it would make sense that the child would at least float or bob in the blood if she or he can swim.

No clue. It was winter, so I doubt it came up in the movie. But he seemed...small?

[Michael can't gauge human ages very well at all.]

Anyway, there were evil ghosts. And Jack Nicholson. Not like he has to drown by himself. [He sort of wasn't even thinking of it like that.] Jack Nicholson is an actor who looks like this - [He makes, just, a Jack Nicholson From The Shining Face.] - so you get it.

[ ... that's terrifying, man. well, not terrifying for her since she's seen scarier shit, but still. ]

Do you know if this movie is something I can find here in the Trench? I'm suddenly interested in this tidal wave of blood, now.

[Michael's so accustomed to Deerington being cut off from normal Earth things that he hadn't really thought about it? But it's not like other folks haven't been engaging in pop culture, now that he thinks about it.]

Jennifer was showing The Exorcist in her club during October, that's from that time period on Earth too. It's called The Shining.

[ jennifer. hm. she'll have to keep an eye out for that name on the network one of these days. ]

There's a club that shows movies?

I think that was just for Halloween. That was the only time I've been - it's not my scene, really more of a club for the youth.

[He grins, because honestly everyone is a lot younger than him! But the vibes were particularly weird for him in there, so.]

If you're youthful at heart, I'm sure no one would've minded.

[ she's 500yo, give or take. ]

That's a shame, though. I would've liked to watch it to see what it's all about.

Oh, it's no big deal. I like looking like this - would've been weirder if I'd ended up as a twelve-year-old.

[Which wouldn't have literally happened, unless he had been specifically assigned to one of those departments - but still, some adult humans look very young.]

You probably still can! They must have gotten it from somewhere, right?

Some twelve-year-olds are already precocious even at that age.

Oh, that's a good point. I suppose I'll simply have to look for Jennifer and ask where she's gotten it.

I guess that's true, but I'd rather just look old. I am old.

[Granted, he doesn't think he looks particularly ancient or anything by human standards, but it just saves a lot of time not to have to explain his relative age.]

Well, looking your age does have its advantages. For one thing, people don't keep you from drinking alcohol.

[ unlike her ... not that she ever argued, just going along with everyone's impression of her. ]

I've done some bartending, in the past.

[Said with a little shrug; other than that, Michael isn't incredibly interested in alcohol most of the time.]

Would've made that pretty awkward, I guess.

Is there anything you haven't done in the past?

[ architecture, bartending, and now designing clothes. is there anything you've never done, michael. ]

You seem like you've done a lot of interesting things.

Yeah, I've been around a while. But there's still plenty of things I haven't done. I'd still really like to learn to play the guitar sometime...

Oh? I've been meaning to learn how to play one myself lately. I think a friend mentioned that there's a music shop somewhere in the Trench where we can get one.

Oh! We should totally do that!

[He has spoken to you for like five minutes, possibly does not actually know your name, and now you are his guitar buddy. Congrats.]

Learn how to play or get a guitar? Though I suppose both can be done one after the other.

Probably need to do the one before the other. I don't think I know enough about them to make my own. I'd need to get one to look at first...and at that point, why bother?

I don't know much about guitars either. I was given a lyre during a festival back in the last world I was in, but I assume you play them very differently.

Not according to Orpheus...

The musician? Unless there's another Orpheus I've never heard about.
