[Lysithea appears on the screen in front of a doorway painted mint green, looking grim, but resolute. Her arm is in a sling and she has obvious scars and cuts across her face and neck, but at the very least, she is in one piece. She couldn't say the same for some of her friends.]
I am one day late.
I am pleased to announce...
[And here she makes a gesture with her good hand, and it becomes clear that this is a recording through the eyes of her Omen. The bird flaps back a few feet to reveal a recently renovated building that looks, if not grand, at least, well... intact.]
The grand opening of the Patisserie Lysitherie. Located in the Willful Machine, [address here], five minutes' walk from the closest Lamp Friend.
[Lysithea steps inside and her Omen follows to showcase part of the interior.]
...I'm sure I've prattled on about my business long enough, so I won't bore you with more details. Just know that our trade rates are exceedingly reasonable, and we seek to procure only the finest ingredients from the docks. It is winter, of course, so temper your expectations accordingly. Additionally, all purchases will come with a package of Weeping Wafers, our first in-house concoction. The taste is nutty and earthy with hints of nutmeg and almond. It's delicate - and not excessively sweet.
Most importantly, it is made with raw, diced Weepers.
After the... occurrences of the previous month, I imagine we could all benefit from their magic. If you seek mental stability, come by and we're happy to provide you with free samples. Don't take too many, though - I don't know what the effects are if you overdose.
...Well, that's all. Thank you for your business.
[...It is evident that Lysithea has no idea how to end this. After a moment, she looks around awkwardly and then dips her head as if in a bow before the transmission cuts.]
[action, ota, at the Patisserie]
[Lysithea will be manning the sweets shop during business hours. Her employees are welcome to join her when they're free - she could use some extra help, given her dislocated wrist. Drop by to sample normal baked goods, Weeper products, or simply strike up a conversation.
On slow days, Lysithea can be found eating her Weeping Wafers and fingering what appears to be an old research journal of some sort.]

At least right now he seems to be calm enough, peering at the different goods on display, wondering what his friend would like.]
Usagi. She will appreciate anything I know, considering she eats like she comes from a species with four stomachs, but I want to make sure what I get for her is at least given some thought.
no subject
Oh -- yes, Usagi.
[She was aware they were friends. She did flip through the network on occasion during lulls in foot traffic.]
Hm... then you want to consider her favorite flavors. Fruits? Heavily spiced, like cinnamon or nutmeg? Classic, like chocolate?
I don't know her well, but as an individual, she seems airy and sweet - something with a lot of whipped cream comes to mind.
no subject
Whipped cream definitely suits her personality well. Chocolate and sweet fruits like strawberries and pears would also be good for her.
no subject
[Lysithea gestures as she walks by.]
Berries and apple. I don't think there's anything with pear.
Over here...
[She reaches up with her good arm and slides out a tray.]
These are milk buns with enormous amounts of cream. I'm very partial to these myself. They spoil quickly, so - I do have a personal agenda in getting them sold, but if she likes light and creamy things, these would be perfect.
And of course, there's all kinds of chocolate sweets around the shop if you care to look around.
no subject
Then I will take four of the berry pastries, four of the milk buns, and four of those little crescent-shaped ones over there dipped in chocolate.
no subject
[says Lysithea, in the tone of somebody who believes that everything in the shop would be an excellent choice.]
Er.
Usually, I pack for the customers, but if you don't mind --
[She hands Maul a cardboard box with the top hanging open, followed by a pair of tongs.]
And when you're done with that...
[She pulls out a little pad.]
If you could fill out this order form and what you'd like to exchange, our transaction will be complete.
no subject
Will this suffice?
no subject
Yes -- Yes, I suppose that would.
[Lysithea responds slowly, holding out her good hand to accept the coin. There is something about this that perhaps seems familiar.]
Did you perhaps get this from a certain individual with a... propensity for manifesting coin?
Just out of idle curiosity.

[Maul says, just a touch evasive. He's not sure how many people know about Paimon or how they might be treating the demon. Maul feels a touch protective of him even with how much progress Paimon has made lately.]
If he did, it might have been because I read him a story.
[Sometimes, the simplest solution to getting what he wanted was the best one.]
no subject
...That does sound about right.
[Lysithea places the coin carefully onto the counter.]
Incidentally, he works here. If you didn't know. I suppose there's no harm in accepting his coin, although in a roundabout way, I think he just paid himself. I've been trying to break him of the habit of summoning gold in response to any need.
...I'm trying to teach him communication skills.
[it's going... about as well as can be expected]
no subject
[Granted, Maul's reasons weren't entirely altruistic but he's never claimed to be a saint or even a good person, which most of Trench already knows. But it had both gotten them something they wanted, so where was the harm in that?
He does give a genuine grin when Lysithea days she's trying to teach him communication skills and she gets to be witness to one of the rarest things that Maul can be seen doing: giving a genuine laugh. When he done, he still looks amused.]
You must enjoy efforts in futility. I suggest banging your head against a brick wall if you want the same effect.
no subject
[just 'mostly']
He can say 'welcome' now and smile without looking like he's trying to bite somebody.
[...]
It's a pretty big step, you know.
no subject
[When Maul had arrived, he'd been almost just as feral as Paimon was. Fortunately, his friends had helped him to become just a touch more socialized even if he still insults most people with every other breath and tries to solve most problems with maiming or murder these days.]
no subject
Just... about things like tearing the flesh off humans.
[and what a vast improvement it has been]
Well, if you would like to see him at work someday, I'm sure he wouldn't mind. He's got quite a thing for serving customers now... He's fond of pacts, you know, and in one sense, the trade of a service for a good is almost exactly what a pact is.
no subject
[And something he would file away for future interactions with the demon. Maul picks up his package to take to Usagi.]
My thanks. I shall be returning if she likes them.
no subject
[...does darth maul have friends besides usagi? probably?? Lysithea bends over a ledger and begins to make a note.]
And so that will be... one gold coin for... -- hm. My, would you look at that!
[A great show of surprise!]
Why, you're the one hundredth person to make an order since I first began to bake in September! That means you've won our promotional item!
[And truly, she does actually slide over a box of twelve Weeping Wafers.]
Congratulations!
[..........She is not really feeling this all the time. But in a show of festive spirit, she casts some quick light magic that creates some nice sparkles in the air around him.]
Do share those with Usagi as you please. They have a remarkably calming effect on the psyche.
no subject
Hmmmm....
[He supposes he'll have to take her at her word. She did offer these on the network so they do seem legit.]
Very well.
[He picks up the two packages, putting the Weeping Wafers on top of the one, and gives one final nod to Lysithea with his horned head before he walks out.]
no subject
Lysithea gives a sturdy wave as he walks away. When he is out of sight, she breathes a sigh of relief that nothing terrible in particular had happened.
Perhaps the wafers would help.]
