[Good late morning, Trench. Have a REALLY excited Usagi (what else is new) who is finishing up wrapping something with a giant pink bow. She waves to the camera.]

NO! TODAY IS MAKOTO KINO'S BIRTHDAY!

YES! That's right! The amazingly beautiful, strong, talented, protective, best cook in all of Trench and I WILL fight you on that if you try to argue with me otherwise Makoto Kino has her birthday today!

So don't hesitate to wish her a happy birthday!

And for those of you who DO want to get her a gift... not that she expects one because she's Makoto and she's super humble like that, but if you want to get her something! Then she likes any and all cooking supplies, anything with pink roses on them, or hey pink roses themselves, or potted plants, and tigers!

Usagi-chan! You seem to be in high spirits.

Did you want to do something together for her birthday?

[Before he tries to whisk Makoto off on a solo date… If Atsushi was to be honest, he’d like to include Usagi in as much of the celebrating as possible. He’s sure that Makoto wants to be with her too, after all that has happened.]

How could I not be when it's one of my best friends birthdays!

And I was thinking just a small get-together, you, me, Rei-chan, Mina-chan, and whoever else Mako-chan wants to invite. But just something small like what we did for Mina-chan's birthday.

That way you can take her on a birthday daaaate~ [She grinned.]

A get together would be nice. I wish there were places to go ice skating here. [But he hasn’t found a rink, nor a lake that he would trust.]

It might be nice to do something with the three of us afterward. The house is probably warmer than anywhere else we could go.

Well, technically there is, but I don't know how romantic it would be to ice skate at the beach? But maybe we can find someone with control of their ice powers who could like, freeze an area for you two to skate on? [Someone HAD to ice powers here that could actually control them. Someone ALWAYS had ice powers.]

The three of us, are you sure you don't want to just be the two of you? [She wouldn't say no, but she knew Makoto had asked her about... deepening intimacy with Atsushi, birthdays tended to lead to bigger steps like that.]

[Atsushi, who has no idea this conversation happened, has concluded that Makoto isn’t ready for that. Even then, he knows that Usagi means and lot to Makoto and he respects that about her.]

It’s her birthday. It should be about everyone who loves her, I think..?

[But what would he know about birthdays? Atsushi has never had one. Most everything he knows about them is from Usagi.]

You mean a lot to her. We talk about it a lot.

[Usagi blushed and doesn't argue about how much she means to Makoto. Though... this is now the second time one of the girl's significant others has mentioned how much the girls talk about HER. Which only makes her blush harder.

But... it makes her chest warm and fills her with joy. It's always nice to be thought of lovingly, and she loves the girls so much.]

We'll let the birthday girl decide. But I certainly wouldn't say no.

Mm! And if we do need to get out of your hair, you can always ask us to go upstairs.

Well, the table needs to be set up, I don't know how many she'll want yet though. SHE'S NOT ALLOWED TO COOK!

Do you want dinner? I can try to make something... but with how limited fresh ingredients are, I make need some time to figure out a cake.

I've taken care of dinner. We're having crab. [Does she look a bit too delighted? Yes, she does. Because she hates those stupid things and any chance to make them suffer, specifically EATING them, makes her happy.]

It's too bad we can't make her a cherry pie, she loves those. I bought them this morning from the boardwalk.

Crab? Really? That sounds really fancy..!

[He's volunteered to help with cooking, but he's not sure how to top crab. Especially when fresh fruits are so hard to come by.]

I might be able to find a cherry jam or preservatives of some sort? If I can even find a little bit, we could make tarts instead of a whole pie... Mm. [He's thinking hard,] What else do we need for a party? Just the food?

We can do crab for your birthday too, Sushi-kun!

Well, I've got the decorations covered, a birthday banner and some table centerpieces. I wanted to keep it plant-themed since Mako-chan loves them so much.

But I won't say no to help with cleaning.

[He tries not to sound excited for that. The more you look forward to something, the more disappointed you will be when it inevitably doesn't happen.

It would have been in May... It's fine, though. I don't think it matters much in my case. I don't even know how old I am anymore. Am I still eighteen or did I turn nineteen in October..?

Why not get Mako-chan a matching rose ring or necklace or bracelet to go with her favorite earrings?

Is that sort of thing okay? It won't seem like too much, will it?

I don't want to overwhelm her..?

Then a rose bracelet! Just don't get one that's too fancy, but definitely not something cheap, either. But a bracelet is right in the middle!
