[Good late morning, Trench. Have a REALLY excited Usagi (what else is new) who is finishing up wrapping something with a giant pink bow. She waves to the camera.]

HEY EVERYONE!

[She grins wide and big, fang-free for those who might be aware of what she's been going through the past few months.]

Do you know what today is?... Don't say Sunday.

NO! TODAY IS MAKOTO KINO'S BIRTHDAY!

YES! That's right! The amazingly beautiful, strong, talented, protective, best cook in all of Trench and I WILL fight you on that if you try to argue with me otherwise Makoto Kino has her birthday today!

So don't hesitate to wish her a happy birthday!

And for those of you who DO want to get her a gift... not that she expects one because she's Makoto and she's super humble like that, but if you want to get her something! Then she likes any and all cooking supplies, anything with pink roses on them, or hey pink roses themselves, or potted plants, and tigers!

I am, yes. But I'm also particularly good at keeping secrets if asked. Or if it really bothered you and it wasn't hurting them? I'd stay out of it. Despite all the wrong things you think about me, I'm actually capable of staying out of a situation if asked.

Ah... so this is about the Lance thing. [She honestly figured it was. She just didn't have confirmation.]

That was considerate of you to leave even if it might have hurt you to do so. [It's literally the bare minimum but it's considerate all the same, people forget that the choice to make things worse is still an option for some people to take.]

I'm not going to ask about the situation with you and Lance, but if you want to talk about it with someone who about the whole thing, I'm here.

I don't trust you, but don't take it personally. I don't trust anyone fully anymore, and you might mean well, but well-meaning intentions still can mess things up worse than they were before. I keep my issues to myself.

[It wasn't that he anything particularly against her - except killing Maul - but he also tried to stay away from people who were as peppy as she was. They always had more skeletons in their closets than anyone. Or they were too perfect, and he disliked that.]

Despite what people think of me, I am capable of respecting the requests of others. Those kids deserve to feel safe. I won't take you up on the offer, but I'm certain most would appreciate that you did. I don't talk about the full length of my affairs with anyone.

[Which was also why he and Maul worked so well. Maul most often didn't even think to ask, so Reaper didn't have to spill much in the way of personal details.]

Sounds incredibly lonely.

Well-meaning intentions can make things worse, so can not doing anything at all and ignoring the problem or keeping it all in and not saying anything. Really, a case can be made for everything.

I've noticed.

Offer stands, regardless of whether or not you use it, it's there. [And Maul is too... prone to talking about Maul on the matter to notice Reaper likely doesn't share much.]

It's more protective than it seems.

[At least it used to be. Those who were close to him ended up dead, and he'd prefer to keep that from happening here. Old habits died hard.]

I'll give you that point, but nothing will be changed talking about it. I was asked to leave, so I left. I'm used to finding my own way. If anything, it's a good reminder to not get too close. Noted.

[She wonders how much it's actually protecting him.]

Just an honest warning: It might be more protective to at least share with someone of your own choice... rather than have Trench decide for you that it's time to share.

We've only been here a few months and plenty of people have had their secrets forced out of them.

I understand the risks of keeping to myself, especially where a meddling place like this is involved. Russian roulette is a viable high-risks game for a reason. Deerington was much the same. Trench has shown little difference. If I didn't humiliate myself enough in that place, I expect I can weather the storm here.

[She sighs as she reads his stubbornness, but there's literally nothing she can do. And to some degree, she doesn't want to. You can't force people to open up to you. She's offered him a listening ear, that's all she can do.]
