[opening up, amara is beaming at the camera. she's clearly in an alleyway of the willful machine, if the light and bustle a little ways off from her is any indication. she has a huge bag of popcorn in one hand, the other holding the omni-- her signature tattoos glow across her arms and neck, though right now they're a bright orange instead of the usual blue.]

Yoooo! This market has orange popcorn! You have no idea how long it's been since I've had some! [a truly unfortunate and very strange looking dog briefly pops into frame as it makes a lunge for the popcorn with a long, prehensile tongue. amara doesn't seem too bothered by it, responding by lifting the bag up and chiding it;] Not for you, Skag. This is people food.

[moving on...]

I'm Amara! I am known as the Tiger of Partali, the wisest cowboy to ever walk the land and possible brain surgeon! That last one involves a lot more metaphysical punching than you would expect. Anyway! That giant snake is an equally giant pain in the ass, so I'm gonna tear its head off and give it to the Hunters in lieu of a resumé. Anyone down to join? It'll be a fun evening out!

Sure am. [she's not surprised shiro is here. kind of glad on a level, too. poor guy would've been a wreck if he lost his family.] Miss me?

I slept on the beach last night! [she doesn't sound too bothered by it.] I wanted to stay there a little longer.

Michael is here, so I will be his roommate again. He does not have a choice in this matter.

Okay, well... I'm glad to hear that.

Michael? Ah - right, I think I spoke with him a few times in the dream.

[phaseflex]

He's a good dude. You'd like him, maybe. He's as old as time itself, so he's been around the block a few times.

[she just casually drops that in.]

Or something like that. I'm sure he'd tell you, unless he's trying to keep it a secret here for some reason, in which case... oops?

[she shrugs, unbothered.]

I'm surprised you two never met more in the dream, but whatever! How's shit here, Shiro? What's up? What did I miss? Tell me the good stuff as well, not just all the inevitable misery!

[All he can do is shake his head. Wow - you've been sorely missed, Amara.]

Well - the locals don't hate us anymore. They actually really seem to want to help us. It doesn't seem as dangerous as Deerington - there's still plenty to keep an eye out for, but overall, things haven't been as apocalyptic on a daily basis.

He'd let me off with a warning. He loves me. [she says with a smirk.] The locals in Deerington were questionably real, were they not?

[some parts of the dream she can't remember entirely, with everything that's happened between then and now.]

That's nice. I had to deal with an apocalypse when I woke from the dream. It was pretty fun, actually.

Hah - I think you'd find a lot of people here feel that way. [Space Lion Jesus he missed you, ma'am.] And yeah, yeah, they weren't... really people. Memories, we think.

These people are real. Or more than Deerington was.

[she is barefaced lying; it was terrifying but amara will not admit that. instead, she just sidesteps the topic.]

Good. Dealing with the metaphorical constantly was giving me such a migraine all the time.

Hah. It seems like it's a lot more literal here, these days.

Maybe that'll change. But it hasn't yet.

My thing is punching people very hard. Literal is my favourite. [she shrugs that off, then frowns.] Shiro, did I miss Peter or has he not emerged from the ocean?

[But... the good humor fades away. Rapidly. When he responds, it's quiet.]

He... was here. But he - couldn't stay. He went back to the ocean.

[it's strange to see her actually letting herself look unhappy-- like that expression doesn't belong on her face.]

Too bad. I was looking forward to kicking his ass.

I'm sure he's... disappointed he missed out on that.
