Hello, fellow Sleepers - [Ezra waves. Like a dork.]

Two things -

First. I wanted to raise meditation as another thing to add to the list of things that might be useful in combating the emotional, spiritual, and mental side of corruption. If that's not something you're familiar with, there are definitely some teachers at the School of Mutter that offer instruction and probably some Disciples with their own spiritual bend to it.

But if you prefer to stick with the Sleeper crowd, I'd be happy to do an introductory thing. As a group, or one on one, whatever works best. Let me know, and we'll work out when and where. Or hit me up with questions.

Second. I can't offer where I live as the place to do it. At least, not yet. Given the nature of this place, I'm thinking I could use a roommate. Or a few. Is there anyone who needs or wants one?

Uh...not sure what to say about me here, to get the ball rolling. So I'll leave it at that for now.

Well, my home has apparently become a stopover for wayward Jedi-- [Luke stays with him often enough for him to say that with confidence.] --so feel free to stay if need be. It is not as if I don't have the room.

[It's a big house even if most of the guest bedrooms are pretty worn-down. Maul's focused more on improving his and Savage's living space instead of focusing on those.]

[He is a Jedi. Emotion, yet peace and all, right? So, he doesn't burst into hysterical laughter. He doesn't.

There's some bewildered staring, though, before he collects himself enough to politely reply.]

Uh. Ok. Thank you for the offer, Maul.

Wha - What Jedi are crashing with you? Have I missed meeting someone?

Luke Skywalker stays with us on occasion.

[He tends to bounce around from place to place but is usually there once or twice a week.]

The clearly superior Skywalker in this city.

[Maul has made no secret of the fact that while he'd like to shove Anakin off a very tall cliff, he's grown rather fond of his son even after a relatively short acquaintance.]

Oh, Luke. Gotcha.

[He's not sure he'd go so far as to say that makes sense, but he's appeased.

And nope, he's not gonna be bated into commenting about Anakin on the public network.]

In my experience, if Jedi spend enough time being chill somewhere, we start baking serenity into the Force. Are you sure that won't make your teeth itch or something?

[Maul thinks about that for a long moment, his eyes closing as he reaches out into the Force himself as if confirming that the energy in his house is still that of darkness.]

The Dark Side whispers of constant action to its acolytes, to actively try to fulfill its will. That can grow tiresome when it never stops Perhaps I could use a bit of serene energy around me at this point in my life.

[Is...is that self-reflection and some sort of consideration for balance? Ezra isn't sure what to do with this, coming from Maul.

Wait, yes he does. Cautious positive reinforcement, and then keep an eye out for the possibility it's some sort of ploy.]

Why don't you give a demonstration on meditation? I assume the Jedi beat its importance into you in their cryptic way.

[Also, he saw Maul offering part of the house to a homeless Jedi and frowned. Oh well. Set the ground rules.]

Don't touch my stuff or our Lego project if you show up. [Savage actually doesn't own must stuff, so it should be fine. The Lego though...] And if you hurt Ruin, I'll break your arms off.

...no beating required? I worked out a basic technique before I knew the first thing about being a Jedi. I've learned other kinds, since, of course. Not sure a demonstration over the network would be all that useful, though.

No messing with projects is a pretty basic housemate rule, but it's always good to be clear, so cool. [He's not even being sarcastic.]

And I assume Ruin is a living being? I..guess I'll go with thanks for being clear again, rather than being insulted. Even if something is trying to eat me, I usually try communication before violent self defense.

You were meditating just for the fun of it? [That didn't sound right at all to him, but then again, meditation was not something he was particularly good at. He actually disliked it a lot.]

Humans tend to meddle in projects when they are curious. Same with kits. [He's not calling you a child, but he just didn't want his Lego messed with.]

Ruin is a rathtar. It doesn't use words. [So yes, Ezra might have a tentacle monster with teeth flying at him at least once, probably more than that. At least it's a stunted rathtar, so no bigger than a large dog at this point.]

Well, I didn't know what to call it, and it wasn't exactly for fun. I just knew if I could get a few minutes to sit still and picture my favorite flowers blooming, it made me feel better and stuff felt less overwhelming.

[A touch amused-] I'm an empath. I can communicate with a lot of animals without words. Granted, I've never tried it with a rathtar.

That does sound like flowery Jedi nonsense. It's better to keep your guard up where I'm from.

[Savage made an amused sound. Oh, this would be a good encounter. He was going to be home to see it.] Ruin gets to know people by chewing on them. [Ruin was, by no means, stupid. The rathtar was an intelligent hunger with a voracious appetite. It also didn't eat people Savage enjoyed the company of.]

I've never really tried it before but it looks kind relaxing. I wouldn't mind signing up if you've got some spots.

As for a spot I run a number of safe houses throughout the city. You're more than welcome to stay in one of those until you get yourself settled. Hold some classes there too.

It's a big city- I don't think one would do the trick if people needed a place to go.

But because it's a multi location operation we kind of always need a few extra helping hands.

Is a safehouse where you'd prefer to meet up to try out some mediation?

Yeah. I think that'd be best. You can host training for other people there too.

They're relatively quiet at the moment so they should be a good spot.

While I don't have the space for another roommate, there is a small rock garden on the property I'm occupying if you need somewhere to bring people to learn meditation practices. I don't think it's large enough for a group, but it should suffice for one-on-one.

Many Blades use forms of meditation as a way to sharpen their focus before a mission. Do you have a particular technique you prefer to use?

What kind of missions?

As for techniques, it kinda depends? Before a mission, I'd probably recite a version of the litany of the Jedi Code. Or do slow katas as moving meditation.

That depends on what's needed. However, all of our missions require focus and concentration. We cannot be caught unaware. Otherwise, it could mean death.

What is the Jedi Code? [The Blades had their own mantra. Perhaps it was similar.]

The Force...? Is that like quintessence?

I've never had a mantra or saying for myself. Though, the Blades do use the phrase, "Knowledge or Death" for a motto, I suppose.
