I think it is the consequence of how we manifested here, and is a consequence of us getting too close to the energies beyond the material planes.

All things considered, we were pretty lucky.

I am no expert. I will try.

As you know, there are worlds beyond the material. Most know of the Seven Heavens and the Nine Hells, but there are more. Like Arvandor, Asgard, and the Bleak Eternity.

And beyond that you have the Far Realm. It is here where creatures both fantastic and perverse reside. Aboleths. Mind flayers. Beholders. But the plane itself has its own desire and will, and seeks to fold all into itself.

It is those energies that have changed us into these forms and pulled us to this place. We, who by fate or by choice have brought too close to the influence of that which mortals are never meant to understand.

Like I said. I am not entirely sure. I do know that a friend of mine believed in Valhala, and he was a paladin of Odin.

He said that he always wanted to go there. After dying in glorious combat.
