Hey, all - I see there's some new faces. I'm Shiro, longtime resident here.
[He's seated on a sofa - well, seated is probably the wrong word. He's propped up by a lot of soft things, thanks to being a Warmblood this month.]
If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer - usually I'm on the Waker team, but ah, didn't get a chance this time around.
[Because of feeling like speaking, like moving, is too much effort.]
Anyway, I had a question. I'm pretty good in a fight, usually prefer hand-to-hand. [He is. Hilarious.] Weapons are a little more rusty, and this thing...
[He turns the omni to face a sword propped against the couch.] ... showed up at our house yesterday. And I could use a few pointers in swinging it.

If there was a number there waiting for him, he wouldn't be all that surprised. There have been several times, both in action and in times of slow darkness, where he though this might just be some extremely complicated and expanded train car. Like it scooped them back up or maybe they never left. Maybe they're trapped still or- even- this is all in Min-Gi's head and he's fucking cracked and locked up somewhere in a straight jacket.
Exxxxhale.
Breathe. Shiro says there's no portal. There's no train.
Try to believe him.
A hard swallow.]
I didn't see.
Maybe- Ngh, I should go. If something is after me I don't want to put you in danger.
no subject
[Min looks so rattled, so upset, Shiro just has to try and reassure him. He sits up a little straighter. Offers a hand out. Everything hurts in the process, but that's not about to stop Shiro.]
You're safe. You're okay. [He glances around, but there's no commotion from the rest of the house. No sound of huge animal thundering down the hall to protect them. No yells. Nothing.] If you really want to go... I can't stop you.
But you're okay. My Omen, or the Lion... they'd know. If something were trying to get in here.
You were doing a great job with the exercise.
no subject
[He shoots back, still looking like a rabbit set to bolt.
It's nice, though. The praise. That Shiro says he was doing good. The approval settles into a pocket to think about later when he feels safe. Fact of the matter is, now, that safety is gone- through not fault of Shiro's.
It is weird, though. He's right. The house is quiet. Not even Yeong has appeared..
So why did it happen? Why him? Why now? (And how is he supposed to focus on an orange when there's a portal trying to eat him that could appear at any moment?) A portal he didn't even see. Just Shiro. so he doesn't even have any...proof?]
no subject
[Min-Gi for #%@&'s sake. Give yourself some leeway here.]
Do you remember what you were thinking about... when it happened? Or - were you just trying the exercise?
[It'd be easier to figure out if it weren't the focusing attempt that did it. On the other hand. He frowns, thoughtfully, stalling the process of getting up off the floor for as long as possible. Floor is good. Floor is comfortable.]
[Min doesn't seem to be having any trouble moving, like Shiro himself. He's not hallucinating, like Will and Lance. There aren't any signs of ... transformation... like Eddie had. He's pretty sure Keith had been yelling about dandelions in his underwear or something...]
... what type did you say your blood was?
no subject
Min-Gi doesn't have to think too hard to remember what he was thinking about before Shiro tackled him, he was thinking about being embarrassed about how good Shiro smells and how absolutely inappropriate it was to think about. So he was thinking about thinking and being upset about it because thinking about these things is wrong and stupid and probably illegal or something and-]
Huh? Oh- uh. Darkblood.
[He gives a half shrug.]
But I don't have any powers, so I'm a dud.
no subject
[Min is a darkblood. Who thinks he has no powers...]
[Shiro exhales. He's not terribly familiar with darkblood power. But Will's boyfriend had been using it, too. He'd moved things around with his mind. Manipulated things. Maybe, therefore, Mike would know if Shiro were onto something here.]
I... think maybe you're not. [He says it delicately. Carefully.] You might just need that calm we were working on to tap into it.
But I'm not familiar enough with darkbloods to know. [He chews his lip.] I might know someone who is, though. If you're willing to talk to him?
no subject
[He's processing.]
wait, what do you mean you think- No no okay, forget me, back up.
[Not to say he isn't interested in that thread, because he very, very is. We'll revisit.]
What does any of this have to do with helping Ryan? Describing oranges and- breathing. What's it supposed to mean? Do you know what's going on? Has he told you?
no subject
[He's hauled himself into sitting upright, now, knees drawn to his chest, arms looped around them.]
It's a grounding tactic. [And he can't leave it there, as much as he wants to. That doesn't explain anything at all, really. So he goes on, after a moment, his eyes on the floor.] Helps you focus on what's real around you - touch, smell, sound, sight. List off as many as you can, as long as you can. Focus on the real world.
[Another beat or two of silence, before he says, quietly:] It helps when you're seeing things. Or stuck in your memories.
no subject
That's smart. All five senses? I don't know..what you would taste, though.
[Min crosses his arms over his chest.]
That might be weird.
no subject
[See, you could taste the orange!]
But - they're optional. Trade them in and out. If you don't have anything to taste... you focus on a different one instead.
[He's quiet again, for a few moments.]
We - we usually had tea around, though.
no subject
I should start carrying around candies or something.
[That will definitely help if Ryan is freaking out. Open mouth, insert candy, avoid panic attack. A perfect plan. Probably said by no one ever. Right? Maybe? Moving on. He scratches the side of his nose. There's orange oil on his fingers. It smells nice.]
Are you at home at lot right now?
[Because, you know. Moon Sickness or whatever is kicking Shiro's ass this month. Sounds kinda hopeful though.]
no subject
[He really just hopes it helps. Gum would probably last longer, less... choking potential. Ice cubes had the shock of cold on their side. Or so he'd heard. Like he'd said, tea was usually on hand when he was run through the sensory trick.]
Hm? Not... really any more than usual. [He should be. He absolutely should be, feeling gross like this.] I've got shifts at the orphanage I can't forget. And I told some of the others we'd go check out the... "Sleepy town".
no subject
[His shoulders drop.]
Yeah, no, that makes sense. Busy guy.
[Abandon that hope, then.]
...so. What's Sleepy Town?
no subject
[In the tone of please talk to me. Not demanding. He's frankly too weary to be demanding.]
It's - we think it's what's left of Deerington. The dream world.
no subject
That sounds pretty important. I've heard a little bit about it. The dream world. Were you there for a long time?
no subject
[HAH. Beat that, buddy.]
no subject
Nnngh!
[Okay. Sigh. You win.]
It's just, I've got work and I was hoping if you were here then Ryan would have someone he knows is safe to look out for him while I'm gone. I hate leaving him alone.
no subject
[He sighs. Rubs a hand down his face.] Adam's here. He's more homebody than I am. But - I can see if he'll swap shifts with me, at the orphanage.
[Contrary to popular belief, the salty man has a soft side.]
He probably will, if I give him the look.
no subject
I'd appreciate that.
I mean, it's not like he's a vegetable or something, but this month has him all kinds of messed up. If I don't have my hair the same way or I change my clothes he doesn't recognize me.
no subject
[Honestly, even if he didn't show up for his shifts, it probably wouldn't be an issue. But Shiro just can't walk away like that.]
You're welcome to stay here too. As much as you want.
no subject
[He couldn't impose, but it's a kind offer and he's clocked on now that he can't refuse (even politely!) out loud without Shiro kicking off.
Min-Gi watches Shiro for a moment, almost like he's looking through him. Like he's looking at something else all together.]
Have you tried a saltwater bath? Or apple cider vinegar? For your joints.
no subject
[You're welcome.]
[He frowns, slightly, shaking his head.] No, I haven't. I... don't think we even have apple cider here. Let alone the vinegar version.
And salt water...? [He holds up his right hand. The metal one. Wearily.] I'm having enough issues with this thing already.
no subject
..
[And he sure doesn’t want to be rude but man he has so many questions about the arm.]
Well, when I was in middle school this kid in my class broke his arm and he said he taped a trash bag around it while he was in the bath.
I only say because I know it helps relieve inflammation and you’re all lit up like a Christmas tree.
no subject
Oh, oh man... I - you know? That never occurred to me.
[And then? What? Lit up? He looks down. Then at his arms.]
What do you mean, lit up?
no subject
I mean I can see it.
[He gives a vague gesture in Shiro's direction.]
I've been seeing things lately? Since the beginning of the month. Auras, I guess.
