( The feed opens to a woman who's clearly seen better days, hair a mess of disheveled layers and eyes circled in dark. Fellow Warmbloods might be able to relate to the way she moves β as though hardly daring to, even the most subtle shifts of her body resulting in little stabs of pain.
Despite the wince that flinches across her features as she settles back against a nest of pillows, the woman offers a quiet laugh. )
This is probably the worst time to show my face on here, huh. But I hope the rest of you who have this flu, or whatever it is, are taking care.
Anyway, since all I can really do is sit here... ( βa wry little smile; it's been weeks and she's still not too thrilled about being home-boundβ ) ...it's been giving me a lot of time to think.
( She reaches very slowly for something that was just off-screen, drawing it gingerly into her lap. It's a brown teddy bear. )
This is something from my home that ended up here with me. It's my daughter's. When she was little, she had a very hard time with sleep. ( An understatement to be sure; the progressively dangerous sleepwalking spells are what she now knows were supernatural callings to her daughter's fractured soul. But Rose won't divulge that quite so openly. )
This guy brought her comfort, so in turn, he brought me comfort, too. ( She can't quite hold the stuffed animal to her chest the way she wants to, not with physical contact being as painful as it is, but one arm dares to loosely curl a bit closer around it, protective. )
Do you have anything here with you, from your home? If you don't mind sharing, what does it mean to you? This sick old lady would love to hear your stories.

[Honestly? It felt good to hear Sharon again, and she was happy she managed to make her friend's day a bit better. It was pretty sobering to know she was sick and that she might be alone and just laid up with no company].
Oh, I will. Back home I have a mountain of stuffed animals, and they're pretty much a comfort thing for me. But since I don't have them, I'll still stick with this guy.

My daughter's here, too. Maybe we can have a nice little girls' night.

[What was the name of that other guy in the film? He was ok too, probably. It had been a while since she'd seen it].
Oh, cool, Sharon! Is that her style too, the rom-coms?

( She never thought she'd be talking about Never Been Kissed with someone here, but she's delighted. It sparks something quiet and familiar and happy within Rose, like greeting an old friend. Little glimpses of normalcy amongst all that's so strange here.
Though the question gives her a pause for a moment, considering. It's a strange thought, but there's still so much she has to learn about her daughter at this current age. )
You know... I'm not sure what kinds are her favourites. I'll ask her, though. Maybe we can find something we all enjoy, or marathon a few!

[She would have to see it again, it had been some time and, well, things had happened].
Oh, that would be great! I'll admit, I think I might favor Fantasy a little bit! That's kinda my jam!
[Not to mention now elves made her think of the Boiling isles, among other things].

( Rose gives a soft laugh. Oh, there's nothing quite like the horrors of high school..... )
Oh, fantasy, huh? Like... Lord of the Rings type stuff? ( Rose isn't as in the know regarding things like that, but she's certainly willing to try. She'd love to sit and have some nice movie time with her girls, and the thought of letting Luz and Sharon pick some faves to indulge in makes her feel a particular kind of happiness. )

[She would know, considering she'd dealt with them on Earth and in the Boiling isles].
Like that, yes! But there are also plenty of decent fantasy epics before that time! They...don't always hold up the best though.
[Looking at you, Ladyhawk].

( Watching rom-coms about it in which everything ends up fine and happy is one thing. The reality.... so much worse.
And she's very interested to hear more about Luz's likes, eyes brightening as she comes to attention about it. )
Are there any you especially like? Even if they're maybe a little outdated, now. I have some old favourites like that too. ( She understands; sometimes the originals of things are kind of problematic, but it's interesting to see what inspired later things. )

[She spent three months in a magical school, and the rest was Deerington/Trench living. It was like a long, horrifying sabbatical].
Oh, well! For me, I do like some of the classics. Dune's fun if you know what you're getting into, and I love Labyrinth because its fun and Muppets! Who doesn't like Muppets?
[She also liked Dark Crystal because serious muppets].

( Rose has to wonder. She doesn't have much experience with the School of Mutter, apart from wandering through it a few times when she'd still been searching for Sharon. )
Ohβ Labyrinth! That one was big in my time. ( ...And a sixteen-year-old Rose might have been a little sweet on David Bowie, too. )
We should definitely add these to the mix. Live on the wild side and pull an all-nighter.

[When Eda was watching over her and she didn't feel like she needed to have a job].
Right?! It was the eighties, and probably the first time I saw anyone cosplaying their own LARP! [And a certain bright-eyed Latina might have wanted to BE Jareth, because he was just so cool].
Oh yeah! Popcorn and...hey, what would you drink?
[Oh, she was sick, so probably tea].
no subject
( She's giving a brighter grin at Luz's enthusiasm, though she's cocking her head at the word. )
LARP?
( Sorry, Luz. Rose is not in the know when it comes to Nerd Culture. )
I have a few things, like tea and some hot cocoa. ( Rose gives an almost sneaky little smile. ) I might be a little bad and sneak some of that.

[Please, please get that reference Rose, Luz is begging you].
You should! Lysithea makes the best stuff!
LARP! Live Action Role Play! Basically Sarah is playing out a fantasy game she made all by herself! It was the eighties, so she pretty much had no choice, but there are lots of options for playing games like that now!
[Like that would ever happen in Trench. They had plenty of crazy things happening all on their own].
Ooh, you should! Hot cocoa is not a sin, as far as I'm concerned!
