[ The feed opens to show Ozpin within the sitting room of his manor in Gaze, hands folded over his filigreed walking cane. The glow of the moon combines with his overwrought wallpaper to make the background luridly green. He smiles thinly over his tinted glasses; he seems tense about something offscreen. ]

Good afternoon, everyone. I recognize it has been some time since I last discussed my services on this network... and so I wish to put out a call once again. For those who wish to hone their skills in combat, my name is Professor Ozpin, and I am glad to welcome students new and old.

As it happens, I have met with [ and here's an obvious flicker of annoyance ] several other combat instructors in town, and we have devised an event which all might enjoy. [ He turns his attention to the right, and the camera pans with him, to another silver-haired man. ]

Thank you, Professor Ozpin. [ He nods, turning back to look at the camera with a warm smile. ] Hello, everyone. I'm Terry Silver.

We'll be holding a martial arts tournament with both armed and unarmed divisions. We hope to hold it sometime in May, just for some friendly competition and a bit of motivation to learn and improve your self-defense skills. [ Will it stay friendly? Probably not. ]

All three of us will be offering lessons separately, and if you're a teacher with at least one student you can sign your own school up as well.

[ He looks to his right, clenching his teeth as he tries not to look too annoyed with Johnny. ] Anything you'd like to add, Sensei Lawrence?

[ Johnny moves in front of the two men who tower over him so he’s the prime focus of the feed from here on out. ]

Listen up, nerds.

This tournament is going to have some ground rules for anyone who wants to participate.

Rule number 1: No powers, magical bullshit, or any other crap like that. A real badass doesn’t need those in a fight. He- Or she beats the crap out of her opponent with their own two hands or a weapon in this case.

Rule number 2: These fights aren’t an all out brawl. This is going to be a test of skills. You’ll be awarded points in a match. You need three points to win. You’ll be awarded points for a clean hit to the head or body.

Rule number 3: No murder. This should go without fucking saying. We’re here to kick ass and take names. A real winner knows when he’s won.

[ The camera shifts slightly as a human-sized stuffed ninja wearing a “Super Awesome Ninja School” t-shirt is thrown into frame. Johnny leaps up and kicks it in the chest and out of frame before landing on the ground in one solid motion. ]

This is an open challenge to any of the other combat schools looking to start up. Next month, be there or be square.

[There's the announcement. Hayato will chime in before things get too out of hand in the comments since, well, he knows what all of you are like by now. Still, he's pretty excited about the tournament! This place could use somewhere to aim all that aimless, chaotic aggression everyone seems to have. Ah, how nostalgic.]

To continue off from what Johnny's said, there will be rules, and there will be a referee. Ichimonji Hayato at your service. You can expect both unbiased fair judging and extremely accurate calls. I have a long history with martial arts and personally hold a Fifth Degree black belt in Karate and a Sixth Degree in Judo.

I also can't be bribed and if you start something with me, you will wholly and utterly regret it. So lets all get along, yeah?

I'm just happy to be involved. I'm really looking forward to it! I think it's exactly the sort of thing this place could use.

[Regardless of how much chaos it might create. Eh, it's good for the youth to expel all that energy, right? What better way to get the blood pumping than beating the snot out of each other.]

Yeah. I think getting the chance to fight without it being life or death or shit like that might be refreshing. Give the kids here a chance to learn how to compete.

[Look. You can't have a good karate tournament without someone getting their face kicked in.]

The best part about it is the kids are the ones who are going to write it. We get to guide 'em along and watch them do it.

[ Midoriya bows enthusiastically where he's sitting. He's in good spirits. ]

Looking forward to working with you, Hayato-san! Not sure how I'm going to participate undercover, but I'll figure something out. Maybe we just need extra security...

[Ah yes, he knows that Deku is keeping a low profile because of some ...people around. There is certainly a special~~dangerous~~ kind of gleam in his eyes when he replies to Deku.]

Don't worry, Deku-kun. If someone has the balls to start something in the tournament I'm reffing, I will personally make sure they regret crawling out of the ocean.

[ He's seen that gleam in more than one friend's eye. More like most of the people at school back home, in fact. Cool, fine, totally normal. ]

My school held a tournament even after an attack and beefed up security for it. I'm not really too worried about an all-out attack, but if something gets past by stealth... Well, we've got some time to figure that out. Count me in.

[Don't worry about it! Hayato is a totally normal guy with no weird secrets!]

We do, and if you'd like, you can give me any written descriptions you have of the people you think we should look out for. I can distribute them to the others running the tournament and we can keep our eyes peeled, just in case.

[But he is glad to see Deku willing to try, anyway.]

I'm glad to hear it. I look forward to seeing you compete, Deku-kun.

Unfortunately that would start something. I mean, the second someone looks at an enemy of mine and recognizes them, they'd know it was me who said something. Let's just do our best to make it a safe place. I'll be rotating my practices between schools too.

[ Alright, the last measure is also just because he likes hanging out with his friends. Trouncing each other in the sparring ring counts as hanging out! ]

[He doesn't like that answer, but Deku's clearly thought it out, so he doesn't protest or push. He just resolves to be watchful on his own. With luck the worry is for nothing.]

Alright. Then, we'll just be vigilante in general, just in case, and I'll take your word for it. If anything changes, please let us know, okay?

[Also trouncing friends is a perfectly normal way to hang out, Hayato approves. also ...after a moment, he adds:]
