[Hey, look who has a face again! And he looks like he's actually slept recently.]

Uh. Hi. If you don't know me, I'm Kyle. This is like, extremely awkward feeling, but I'm gonna do this anyway.

It's Passover season. You wanna come for Seder? You can come to my place in Gaze. It's uh, behind an empty storefront called Bi the Garage, just take the stairs up to the second floor. Open invite to anybody, just like... don't show up and try to kill anyone 'cause I absolutely will kick your ass. And if I die, my boyfriend will destroy you so like, don't even bother.

Obviously the menu might be uh, a little different? Because we live in the fucking mushroom kingdom and stuff. Also I'm not orthodox so don't expect this to be like... hardcore. But I'm gonna do my best. Show up on Friday I guess anytime since it's ALL after sundown now, so... yeah. If you show up early I'll put you to work, though.

So. Yeah. Use this space to introduce yourselves to each other and stuff, I'm not your mom.

And everyone else may be like....why is the guy from space where there's no Earth going to the Seder?

[He raises finger.] But I do have memories of growing up on Earth. They're technically not real. It's a long story.

And in those memories, our dad's side of the family was Jewish. Which according to the orthodox view would not make the Earth version of me Jewish, unless I converted. It's your mother's Jewishness that matters. But there's also Reform Judaism -

Anyway, I remember. There's stuff that resonated with me. I want to celebrate, and Kyle's been supportive. And I want to support him.

Dude. Thanks. It's like... ugh. I'm bad at talking about this stuff. Not because I'm ashamed or anything - I'm not - but my upbringing has left me with like... weird expectations of others.

But regardless of your religion or background, I think we can all get behind the ideas of like, freedom and remembrance.

I admit I don't know much about religious traditions. Androids aren't permitted to practise religion of any kind in my home universe. [ To nobody's surprise. They're not even considered people, after all. ] But I'd like to learn.

Anyone's welcome? I'm more than willing to help you with the set up, too.

I think the traditional gifts will be hard to come by. Is there anything you'd find useful?

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what Passover or Seder are. I do love a get-together, but I like to know what it is that I'm celebrating so as not to step on anyone's toes.

[Although he's not particularly religious, Kyle would probably have nightmares of his mother's disappointed face if he just ignored the holiday.]

Dude, I don't know if we're gonna do anything traditional, to be totally honest. I think we're just gonna do the best we can, which let's be real is pretty much in the spirit, don't you think?

Although... Oh, gross, we could make gefilte fish.

[He is immediately jealous of that nook.]

Oh, yeah, no problem. It's a Jewish thing; it celebrates our escape from slavery. Basically you come over, we retell the story of how that went down, drink four cups of wine, and eat a bunch more food and lay around. I'm obviously simplifying, but that's pretty much the gist.

It's religious, and I'm partly doing this 'cause it can be really lonely thinking you're the only one of your people around, but I feel like a lot of people here can relate to the holiday. So I'm not going to turn anyone away who wants to come as long as nobody's a dick about it.

I suspect most of humanity prefers us to view them as our gods. [ It's a dry remark.

If K ever has the misfortune of meeting the head of the corporation that manufactured him, Niander Wallace, he'll find his god complex theory is absolutely correct to a disturbing degree. ]

I've never participated in something like this before, I'm really looking forward to celebrating with you. [ He's smiling as he adds: ] From everything you've told me about your mom, she'd absolutely be proud of you for making this effort.

Guests are meant to bring offerings?

[ He's already started looking up information through the Omni network. But it's unclear whether traditions are universal across the various versions of Earth, so he's seeking confirmation. ]

[ Kyle's got him there, and Ford chuckles in response. ]

Right you are - and it's not as though Trench has any traditions to contradict.

[ The family has been straight up making dates up for Hanukkah. He doesn't think they can get much more irreverent than that.

Though at Kyle's suggestion he just looks thoughtful. ]

I don't doubt that you could, though eating anything from Mariana's sea always struck me as a bit risky.

[ What if they accidentally eat a Sleeper squid? ]

Still, the texture might actually be more appealing than some of the meals Trenchies come up with.

Ugh. Dude, I'm sorry humans are the worst.

Please do not assume I am doing literally any of it properly, okay? I am like... NOT the poster child for proper Judaism. At all. I am positive someone is watching this being like, "Kyle. Kyle, you are fucking up so hard."

If my mom was here at least you guys would get really bitchin' desserts. She makes flourless brownies that are so fucking good.

You don't have to. But if you want to, sure. Just like, uhm, if it's food there's some restrictions and crap so, uh. Wine? Wine is good.

[ Ford is a passable cook, but he tends to lack both the patience and finesse for any recipes more complicated than 'apply spices to food, then apply food to heat', unless it's something he happens to really enjoy. ]

But if I explain how it's made to one of the fishmongers in Darcmouth I suspect they'll be able to produce a close replica. If they can handle the more labor-intensive steps I can finish the job.

Oh. [ "All the time" is about the same as Konoha, this raises no alarms, which is an alarm in and of itself, man. ] I see.

And this Seder helps you to celebrate that moment?

Not that I ever saw. We had... festivals. Though I don't know if any focused on slavery. Normally they were to celebrate the changes in the seasons or to honor our ancestors.

Okay, that makes sense. And escaping slavery, that's certainly a reason for celebration.

[and she smiles self-deprecatingly] I'm not from Earth, so I don't know most of their religious traditions--Earth has so many religions!--but I promise I wouldn't be a dick.

I mean, this is definitely about our ancestors and what they went through. Just focusibg on one story about them.
