( Peter waits obediently for Clarisse to return from the assumed Ant-Blocking Expedition. It might take awhile and he's in no rush, so he starts doing his favourite activity: sitting there and zoning out.

He's just starting to blur into dissociation when his Omni alerts and he looks down to see—

—something he never thought he'd see coming from her. It shocks him, but maybe at first his mind defaults to thinking it's a joke or something. )

[ She doesn't want to actively encourage Peter to, like, call forth Paimon and have him take over his body, or anything. But she's pissed enough to feel like she needs to say something, and waiting patiently isn't her strong suit. ]

( As much as Peter might have once struggled to process and accept something like this before, now things are different. Now, he knows his demon does things like that. Exactly like what she says — "making me see shit that's not there".

So it's not even the usual panicky kind of horror that's coming in, the kind where he can't make sense of what's going on, but more of something slowburn and deep and real. )

[ Clarisse has spent months purposefully not telling Peter about her weird, ongoing hostilities with his demon, and later she's going to be pretty pissed off with herself for giving it away like this. But right now she's still pissed off about the bug situation and figures Peter might as well know everything, if he's going to find out the truth. ]

he more than made me see them. he made me feel them. [ She can still remember the sensation. Bugs in her ears, in her throat, choking her. ]

( He has to sit down. Peter feels like he's going to puke, and he's imagining all the horrors that this could involve. Made her feel them....

( Because he and Paimon were some weird fucked-up mess that went around being violent to people, those months ago. Not that it makes it any better, but... if he was Corrupted, at least it isn't the same as if he wasn't. )

[ Annnd now's the point where the anger starts to fade off a bit and Clarisse is suddenly realizing what she's done. Not enough to make her shut up, just enough to make her feel a little bad about what she says next. ]

( Paimon hates her. Suddenly, all those drawings with the angry-eyed girl and her spear take on a different light, a more horrifying one. Peter knows what the demon can do to people he doesn't like.

This is all so much, but something to that next part sobers Peter long enough that he can actually stop twitching for five seconds, just sitting there wide-eyed on the edge of his bed. She was trying to protect him. )

[ Is that weird? Why is she getting the vibe that that's weird? She couldn't have told anyone, because it would have stressed them out and/or made them try and fix it, and she doesn't think this is a fixable problem. Last thing she wants is for someone she cares about to get on Paimon's bad side trying to defend her. ]

( Peter's not about to start lecturing or something because like, he gets it. It's the kind of thing he probably would've just kept to himself, too. Way back when Fern started antagonising him so badly, Peter didn't tell a soul. )
