[So in the later part of the month, Luz has been through some rather troubling situations, ones that had her fighting friends/WITH friends in blood arenas, seeing dead bodies of people she had unresolved issues with, and of course, the lack of sleep. That is always a factor. It is, in fact, the primary factor for this video.

The video is out of focus for a moment, but you hear little shuffling, and subtle crashes for a minute before Luz finally appears, slowly, as if peering out into the world].

Heeheeheeheehee....

You guys thought it was still a work in progress. That I wouldn't have the time. (Literally no one said this)BUT! Against all odds and sleep being a thing for UTTER FOOLS I finally have it done! What, you may ask?(No one did) I'll tell you!

Ooh, wow, that is a pretty night outs-ah! Anyway! Yes! Back to this! Feast your eyes, mere mortals and assorted others!

[Luz was off camera, and shifted the view to give a look at the left side of her new room, having made full use of its woody-ness for lanterns and hanging lights. This is even more present in her actual bed space on the right side of the room, and all of this would not be complete without Luz's assorted artwork and many stuffed animals adorning the place. You can see Tempest, her omen, choosing to sleep at the foot of her bed, and Owlbert, perched peacefully on one of the bed posts. It's clear these two were Luz's moral support during her cleaning and sorting and they are now SO tired they will let their charge gremlin out as much as she wants.

All in all, it was a hodgepodge of all things Luz, from the witchy potions and ominous lighting to the outdoorsy aesthetic she'd immediately loved, topped with her touch of cuddliness and art that she'd framed and put up herself].

Ha! See! I finally have the room looking like a place for sleepovers. OMINIOUS sleepovers! Or not, they could be regular. But! Now its a space for a new world, with new things to think about and intriguing ideas about my personal growth I don't dare to delve into yet!

So you know. If you guys ever want to hang, just say the word! But I'm open to new ideas! What do you all think? Other than "she really needs sleep." THAT JOKE IS GETTING OLD PEOPLE!

Yuuuup. I don't- really know how, I don't watch him do it.

[Look, everyone needs a hobby. Varian likes to mix up questionably dangerous chemicals and creates death robots. Fern kills stuff and displays their bones like creepy monster trophies. ]

Okay. I don't know a lot of Halloween traditions, but whatever you want to do, I'm behind you.

Right. I'll have to file that in my list of things you guys do that is slightly creepy but strangely compelling.

[Luz was starting to have an appreciation for the natural, rustic look. It reminded her of Margot somehow].

Oh, I wasn't just talking those, though I'll be sure to do that! I was more talking about preparation for ensuing craziness.

I am neither surprised nor offended that such a list exists. That's- that's fair.

[it's super fair, they're so weird and she's come to rescue them from at least some of that like some sort of angel. ]

Oh...right. That. Yeah, we- uh- we definitely need help with that. I can get some extra defences set up at least. I think our best bet of surviving is to get as many supplies as we can and pretty much hunker down until the month's over.

We all have such complicated histories, our oddities were bound to come up!

[It's both strange and endearing to Luz, which you've probably figured out by now Varian].

Uh huh. With you there. I know you're skeptical, but I'd be willing to try a shield over the house too. Just in case.

Yeah, that's true. It was kinda inevitable.

That might be a good idea, actually. Would you be able to do one without causing you too much trouble? Magic...energy wise? I'm not sure how it works.

There'll be more stuff that probably comes up the longer we stay together!

Can I whip one up? Yes. Will it be stronger with other people involved? Also yes!

Okay, that's cool to know. So having other people helps? Do we need to...uh know magic to help with it?

[imaglyphwitch]

No, the person who's casting has to know how to do that, which is me. What I need from you guys is just being there, because it helps me to cast it better. It's like...when people ask you to pray for them, except that this is helping me to actually put that to purpose.

[droptheious]

Huh. So it's like... emotional support to help you construct the spell? [He nods firmly.] Okay, I can definitely do that. I'm sure we'll all be fine with helping with that.

More like having you guys around strengthens my resolve to protect all of you, but yes, pretty much that.

[It was a fair comparison].

Thanks. I want to put everything I can to making sure that nothing bad happens to us next month. I hope the Pines do the same thing.

Oh, okay. I... think I can just about understand that.

[He's trying his best, Luz, he really is. Because as much as he doesn't like magic, he loves Luz infinitely more. She'll always win out over his magic prejudices. ]

Thanks, we appreciate it a lot. And I'm sure they will, they'll protect each other.

[Luz figured he would. She even gives his hand a gentle squeeze to reassure him].

I'll try to make it as quick and painless as possible. I know this stuff is still weird for you. But knowing you're there will make me want to focus more, and the protection will be that much stronger.

Now that I think about it, don't they have all very different blood types too?

[He gives her a fleeting smile, returning the hand squeeze. ]

I know you will. I trust you with it.

[Which is not a thing he can say for a lot of magic users.]

Yeah! I think we've got pretty much all but one of the blood types living under our roof. Wild, right?

[Luz returned the smile].

This is house is going to be SO protected. Between, science, magic, grass power and fish energy we will have the strongest house IN ALL THE LAND.

Yeah, seriously! Who knew we'd all wind up with completely different blood types? Have you figured out what they all do yet?

[droptheious]

[Oh, Luz. That pulls a laugh out of him. ]

You better believe it! We'll have this covered like pros!

[Also more likely to completely fall apart because every single month something is going to happen to one of them- without a doubt. ]

I'm not sure, I'm still trying to work out how my own functions. Eddie's been studying them.

And whatever doesn't work, we'll make sure that we take care of it for next time! It won't be a perfect October probably, but I'll be sure it's at least a relatively safe one!

Eddie is? Oh good. At least we know that's in good hands!

Exactly! We just have to run this through trial and error until we get it right.

[He nods, waving his hand airily. ]

Yuuuup, anything body-related is Eddie's domain. He's good at it. I'd really rather...not.

Yeah! And extra precautions won't hurt.

Well yeah, medical stuff is not the same as science and stuff...or rather it is, but a different subheading. Not everyone likes biology.

Of course not! You can never be too careful in October.

[And when October is relatively tame they can all be so very confused by it.]

It's never really been my area. I'm not a super fan of blood- and yes I know that's hilarious given where we are now - and I dunno. I like my science to be on the outside of my body.

After all the stuff you told me? I believe it and am not about to take any chances!

No, no, I hear you. I like scary stories, less so when they involve, you know, gore and such. You remember that whole incident with us and Darth Maul.

That's good, I'm really glad to hear it. I don't want you to get hurt if we can help it.

[If they can aim for ZERO deaths in the house this month, that would be amazing. Moreso if they can avoid any body parts being torn off.]

Yeeeaaaah I definitely remember that. But hey, a good ghost story is okay! That said ghosts are very real back home, so-

Likewise, Varian. I don't want any one of us getting hurt. With all those stories I heard about October, well, you can't help but start to be cautious.

[Yup, Luz is not even going there with thinking they'll be "lucky" if they don't lose a body part. No one was getting dismembered here, please and thank you].

Great! I'm...no, actually, I'm a little surprised at that? Somehow I thought you might be skeptical they exist.

You really can't. I only went out for one day, for like... a couple hours, and look what happened.

[He lost a leg is what happened.]

Oh no, they definitely exist back home. You usually have to try and figure out what's keeping them on the mortal plane. Rapunzel dealt with one in the pub a while ago- Ruth I think her name was?

Ugh. I'm really...I don't want anything like that happening to any of us.

[She's specifically thinking of Luca here, but obviously this applied to all of them].

Ah, unfinished business ghosts. I feel like a lot of worlds have those, even my own.

[droptheious]

Trust me, I don't want it either. I want the whole house to stay as safe as possible. Fern's antler should keep monsters from getting inside the house- so we just have to be careful when we're outside of it.

[Luca must be protected AT ALL COSTS.]
