Video: UN - JustD
[The video isn't of D, but instead a carefully drawn map of Trench and its close surrounding areas with rough lines indicating the tunnels. The video zooms back to show a rough outline of a path leading from Trenchwood further inland, denoted as '30 miles' and then a point circled and labeled as 'outpost lantern'.]
Earthquakes and underground tunnels last month, and severe storms this month. If this city sinks into the ground or is washed away, there's nowhere to go.
[D puts another sheet of paper down in front of the video, this one showing a rough outline of ruined building and some sketched in structures and a perimeter wall.]
Last month, Manabu Yuuki led an expedition, this lantern point is as far as we went before we had to return. The wilds are full of aggressive plants and animals, high levels of corruption, and even the plants that don't attack will probably kill people.
But this is a chance to make an outpost. Every time I've gone out there I've come under attack almost immediately, but if we made it that far, we can make this work too.
I'm looking for anyone who can and will fight, anyone who can aid in building fortifications to make defenses easier, and anyone with the ability or knowledge to provide magical protection and reduce corruption, or who can provide supplies and support.
I'll provide food and shelter or items for trade to anyone who works on turning this outpost into a haven.
My name is D. I'm setting up a staging point for people and supplies in the house near the Watch Tower with the red door and cloth banners. Contact me here, or look for me there between mid afternoon and sundown.
[OOC: Plotting post for this open and approved player plot here and location post and information here. An open log post will be going up sometime in the next week.]

I can fight. I also have a tendency to kill plants within a radius around me.

[D is not at all put off by that statement and doesn't seem to think it's strange at all. They might as well be making pleasant smalltalk.]

But this is intriguing, I'll admit. [the attitude of the natives this month makes him. hm. concerned.] If the working conditions can be made safe I may be able to help on a few matters. Defenses, general construction matters like lighting, even heating or cooling.

[Going back to blood capsules is enough make D sound relieved. He spends a few moments considering his options, or perhaps just deciding if he wants to continue talking over the network.]
Aside from defenses, those are all luxuries that can wait. I have something to show you.

[Fuck the ocean, and weather, and also, fuck everybody who does bad shit on the ocean and pisses off Mariana, amen.]
I know my way around a ward, protective and otherwise. [...and,] Don't trust me with actual construction, I don't know anything about fortifications besides how buildings are supposed to look; but if you need darkblood to move the pieces around, I've got that, too.
no subject
General protective wards and wards to reduce blood pollution during fights will be very helpful at this stage. I'll take whatever help you can offer.
Do you have a weight limit or distance limit for what you can move.

What kind of heavy lifting are you talking about?

I can fight, but I also have a fairly large shield technique I can provide for limited amounts of time before it drains my chakra. It lasts for a few hours, depending on how heavy the attacks are, but it should protect those who are working so they can get work done with less distraction.
voice; un: JustD
I'd like to see this technique to get a better idea how to use that time best.

[ Because if you're fighting to hold a new location we are still fighting to save Beasts, right D? If not and it's just outright killing them/hit and miss Allen will have problems otherwise. But he's fine taking on the main responsibility of Beasts as well. ]
I'll try to come by there myself regularly too. My eye can let me detect Beasts from far away before they get near anyone else.
Video: UN - JustD
They may be more like the nightmare creatures, too far gone to be restored, or something else. I'd like for you to be there when we set up wards.
[Even if they are, D is going to place creating the outpost and the people guarding it above the lives of the beasts that will attack almost constantly. They can't save anyone if they get wiped out, and beast rescue operations can happen once the outpost is established enough to contain them.]

I can bring my guardian with me. He should be able to deal with anything out there without too much trouble, especially if I’m there.

Provided the threats can be shot and slashed with the sword effectively, I can help in maintaining a perimeter and building. As you said. If we can build fortifications and then if those can be enchanted to strengthen them against harm, a bulwark could be established. If others had lanterns available, they can be positioned further and further out. Creating outposts...

Let's focus on this outpost before we go further than that.
[It's a plan D likes but it's also one he has concerns about.]

When do you propose to start?
no subject
We'll start as soon as I can coordinate and finish everything that needs to be done before construction starts.
[Which is a growing list as people provide more skills and resources and magical barriers that need large blocks of stone carved and enchanted.]
