[The video isn't of D, but instead a carefully drawn map of Trench and its close surrounding areas with rough lines indicating the tunnels. The video zooms back to show a rough outline of a path leading from Trenchwood further inland, denoted as '30 miles' and then a point circled and labeled as 'outpost lantern'.]

Earthquakes and underground tunnels last month, and severe storms this month. If this city sinks into the ground or is washed away, there's nowhere to go.

[D puts another sheet of paper down in front of the video, this one showing a rough outline of ruined building and some sketched in structures and a perimeter wall.]

Last month, Manabu Yuuki led an expedition, this lantern point is as far as we went before we had to return. The wilds are full of aggressive plants and animals, high levels of corruption, and even the plants that don't attack will probably kill people.

But this is a chance to make an outpost. Every time I've gone out there I've come under attack almost immediately, but if we made it that far, we can make this work too.

I'm looking for anyone who can and will fight, anyone who can aid in building fortifications to make defenses easier, and anyone with the ability or knowledge to provide magical protection and reduce corruption, or who can provide supplies and support.

I'll provide food and shelter or items for trade to anyone who works on turning this outpost into a haven.

Mm. I'm sure I'll be able to.

[If D weren't so miserable he might put that to the test, but he doesn't want to be out with all this miserable weather more than he has to be.]

[And D hangs up, because what is a goodbye anyway, that was close enough.]

[ Goodbyes are for suckers and he hates unnecessary things anyway. Sasuke doesn't take long to make it out to their meeting point. It's not exactly a crowded space so he's assuming that the only other person in the vicinity is the man he's supposed to be meeting.

But assumptions make people look like assholes, which means he has to ask. ]

Are you D?

[All this rain is awful, but D hides his weariness from the combination of rain and daytime very well, just a slight dip in his otherwise perfect and crisp posture.]

I am.

[This young man feels very different in a way D can't quite describe, but this place is full of people his supernatural sixth sense doesn't quite know what to make of yet.]

Is there anything you need other than space?

[ He shakes his head. At least he wasn't here to demonstrate any of his fire techniques or else they'd both be in for a very disappointing show.

Sasuke closes his only visible eye for a moment, opening it again with the red glow of the Mangekyo Sharingan activated. A purple glow of chakra surrounds him, before rapidly increasing in size. It eventually takes the shape of a large, skeletal warrior, clad in armor and holding a fairly giant sword. Sasuke keeps it half-sized rather than full-size, the warrior's ribcage being what ends at the ground, wrapping around the both of them in a protective barrier, one that could easily cover a few dozen people at once. ]

... He can be bigger, but this is easiest to maintain for long periods of time.

[The red glow of that eye almost startles D into drawing out his own aura, but not so much as a faint glimmer of red appears in his eyes and he keeps his eldritch presence locked down as deeply as it usually is.

For a moment, he thinks it's an advanced application of an aura technique for defensive purposes, but that quickly passes. This is an extremely advanced technique, reminiscent of what that guy can do with his shades and projections but also very different.

D turns away from Sasuke and lifts his left hand and calmly moves it around inside the ribcage, focusing more on his sixth sense than what the rest of them can perceive.]

This is much more complex than a defensive aura... What do you think?

[A small, hoarse voice comes from D's left hand, the face on it studying the ribcage and tasting the energy in the air. "It's worth an attempt. At the very least it won't hurt."]

We're on the same page, then.

[D lowers his hand back to his side and turns around to face Sasuke once more.]

My Left Hand can generate and share life energy. He could extend the time you can keep this going if your chakra is similar enough to our reality's energy.

[ Well, at least knowing people like Deidara prepared him for weird as fuck hand things. He still stares at the hand when it actually talks, because that's still new, and still a little strange.

But he lets it go quickly and nods at the explanation. ]

We've jutsus like that back home. [ He releases Susano'o and the purple giant fades away as quickly as he appeared. ] I'll appreciate the assistance.

We can check now if you wish with just a small amount.

[Better now than in the middle of combat. D lifts his left hand, and holds it out, but there's no longer any face visible on his palm.]

[ Sasuke hesitates, not always the keenest to let other people test out their powers on him (something about working with Orochimaru always makes him wary now) but he finally nods, because it's true. Checking in the middle of battle would be a lot worse.

So he takes a breath, before concentrating, and he brings back up the purple giant. ]

[D doesn't know enough about this place and other people to be fully confident on how his abilities interact. This isn't like home where he knows if something will work, and it's not just his own life on the line to risk in the heat of the moment.

He reaches out slowly to place his palm flat against Sasuke's arm. The energy that flows out from his left arm has a raw and primal quality to it. There's not a large amount of it. At first it's not quite right, imbalanced compared to Sasuke's energy, but a moment later the Left Hand gets a better grasp of what it's doing and levels that out to better match the flow of chakra.]

[ Sasuke can feel the awkward moment of adjustment, but once things have settled, he gives a small hum of interest. It feels similar to Sakura's chakra support, but there's something slightly foreign about it to make it clear it's not quite the same. ]

Seems like it works.

[Once Sasuke answers, D pulls his hand away with a nod.]

Good. The more time we can work without interruption the better.
