how do you do magic if you're not a mage

fake magic for not mages?

where do you buy meat for dogs

[These are not, in fact, incorrectly-aimed omni searches, this is simply how local not-a-mage Carver Hawke chooses to communicate. He has all the grace and poise of a preteen trying to google puberty, when it comes to Doing a Magic, but he also doesn't know how to be anonymous, so here he is.

Also if you've ever received a message from a one Palamedes Sextus and are wondering what's up with this severely different un: warden post, oopsie doodle? The click-through userid is different, if you make the effort to check.]

A pleasure. Oh, is there blood magic in your world? I apologize. It might be best to just think of these as 'powers.' I doubt it works the same.

We aren't sure. We've only been here for around a year, and those who were here before in the nightmare were here for only a few years beyond that. I would not have noticed the difference myself. I suspect, though, if you expect to grow up? You will.

There are fourteen Pthumerians or half-breeds that we know of, and one who is deceased. There are most certainly others, but we don't know them for sure yet. I can list them, if you wish, but you will want to know most about Mariana. She is ascendant in the next month.

The Pthumerians are creatures of another world, who came to this one in order to rule over it. They have immense power, but their way of seeing this world is in absolutes, in focuses upon things that only they seem to understand and see. For some? They are easier to understand. The Doorway, for example, focuses all of her power upon relationships and bonds between people.

Mariana, though, is vastly difficult to understand. She rules over the ocean, which comprises much of the world. She resides within the dark, lightless depths where only the dead and the strange and surreal and monstrous of the world reside. She is a force of nature, and like a typhoon she is without pity, without mercy but also without malice. She simply is, and in 'being' she is as dangerous one day as a calm sea, and another as a raging wave that threatens all on shore. She is capable of being a force of great destruction, but a vast amount of the meat people eat in Trench is her bounty.

I would never call her a 'god' as some do, but hers is a force that transcends mortal understanding, and trying to pin down her motives is nearly impossible.

On the one hand? You're right. She is, and it's better to just know what may happen because of her.

On the other? "What may happen" includes giant monsters rising up from the depths of an insane, unpredictable ocean, so...

The corruption is something intrinsic in the world, in the state of all of our blood. I do not believe any specific Pthumerian is associated with that.
