My mother, Rose Da Silva, has returned to the ocean. I know she was close to a lot of people here and I thought it was important to let everyone know.
[ She hadn’t wanted to tell anyone, truth be told, but she knew she couldn’t selfishly hold onto the information when Rose knew and cared about so many people in this place and vice versa. But even this small amount of public acknowledgment cuts her to the bone. ]

[ it takes her a bit longer to make it to the Gate. she looks worn, blue eyes puffy and pink, and her normally messy hair is flat and lifeless. she’s made sure to wear her protective leathers even if she wanted to come in her pjs. strapped to her back is her spear and her pistol is on one hip and a knife on the other.
when she spots him she offers a half hearted wave. ]

Losing someone isn't easy, even if they just went back into the sea. He doesn't know if Sharon's mom has anything to go back to, having heard a little about her life. Mothers of witches don't tend to fare well either. ]
I already asked them to set aside some monsters for us. We can go in whenever.

[ she asks as she rolls her shoulders. she’s trying to get into the proper mindset for this; she knows it’s important.
already, her mother is at the back of her mind. a whisper instead of a scream. ]

[ To regroup or just stop. This way, Sharon won't feel they absolutely have to finish them all off if her focus isn't there. ]

she sucks on her teeth. ] After all the shit we dealt with at the Outpost, this should be easy.
[ she tries to force confidence into her voice the same way she tries to force the stiffness from her muscles —— she accomplices neither perfectly but it’s adequate enough. ] Let’s fuck some shit up.

Yeah, this will be a cakewalk.
Let's fuck some shit up. [ He heads in first, scanning the arena to see there are five dog-like monsters waiting for them. ]

they pad forward, their sickly heads bowed like a wolf stalking its prey. Sharon shifts her stance but doesn’t engage just yet, waiting for them to make the first move.
it’s not a long wait.
one of the beasts gets bold and bounds forward, leaping into the air, jaw extended wide revealing a maw of razor like teeth that travel all the way down it’s throat. before it reaches her, she jams her spear forward and buries into the hounds chest and then flings it sideways. it lands on its side with a strange warbling cry as the blade is pulled out. ]

When the second one tries a pincer attack, that's when he makes his own move. Blade twirling in his left hand as he takes several steps towards it to intercept. His black sword is aimed at the neck, slicing it only an inch.
An inch is all he needs, as the sword sucks up the energy of the beast until nothing is left. Neutralizing the threat entirely as Nico steps back to back up Sharon. ]
