video; un: ushiromiya (cw: mentions of house fires, arson, murder)
So for those not in the know, our house burned down last month.
[ What a way to open a post, right. And yet Ange manages to say it with something very close to a pokerface. Those who know her well may see something at its edges though. An annoyance that starts to bleed more and more into the girl's tone as she speaks on. ]
And not in the 'dumb accident' sense. No, it's because apparently it's socially acceptable in this place to come to someone's house and set it on fire, before bringing your friends inside to start murdering its inhabitants. [ Okay, yes. At this point it's not thiny veiled annoyance anymore. This is obvious annoyance that she doesn't bother to hide. ] And before anyone asks me if I'm alright— I'm fine. Totally fine. I mean, I half-turned into a beast back there, but it's clearly cool. It's fine.
[ It's clearly not fine. The sarcasm is thick.
Though Ange seems to realise that's not why she was supposed to make this message, and manages to snap herself out of passive-aggressive-ville for just long enough to sigh and sound a little bit more neutral as she speaks on. ]
Anyway, we want to rebuild the house, but that's obviously something we need help with. None of us are exactly architects.. I think. I've learned to not question weird Remnant hobbies. [ You never know what those Remnant people are capable of. ] Not to mention we'd need help with the actual physical rebuilding itself too.
We could use help from a lot of people, so if anyone would be willing to help, that'd be great.

And it's something she feels pretty vulnerable about. The memories of everything that happened still kind of make her feel sick when she thinks back on them even just a little bit. But there's no way Ange likes discussing that sort of stuff in public, so she bites it down, focusing on the other half of what her cousin is saying. ]
Honestly, it's probably better if some stuff is done by hand. You never know what to expect in this place. [ If last month proved anything, it's that.. ] I don't want the entire house to just suddenly disappear or collapse one day if magic happens to stop working in this place for whatever dumb reason.
[ Ange sure wouldn't put it past Trench's weird, weird whims, anyway. ]

Yeah, good point. You never know when something like that might happen. [ She sighs, nodding. ] I'll do what I can, okay?

There's no need to overwork yourself in the first place. There's a surprising amount of people who have volunteered to help.
[ Mostly surprising since.. well, even though Ange has been away from their world for a long time now, she's still not quite used to the difference in people's attitudes towards her. Back home no one ever helped her out of her crappy situation, and here it sometimes feels like there's floods of offers instead. ]

Yeah, it looks like it! My little cousin has so many people on her side.

[ Ange slows down in the middle of that sentence, suddenly starting to sound a lot more embarrassed. It's not even like Jessica is wrong, and it's not even like it's something Ange dislikes..
It's just so overwhelming, the idea of this many people wanting to help her, that she doesn't quite know how to deal with it. She isn't used to it. ]
I mean, a lot of people are probably volunteering because of Oscar and Ruby, you know? Those two are super social. I bet a lot of their friends want to help build a house for them, mostly.. [ Sure, Ange.
Whatever you tell Jessica that makes you feel a little less embarrassed. ]
