So for those not in the know, our house burned down last month.

[ What a way to open a post, right. And yet Ange manages to say it with something very close to a pokerface. Those who know her well may see something at its edges though. An annoyance that starts to bleed more and more into the girl's tone as she speaks on. ]

And not in the 'dumb accident' sense. No, it's because apparently it's socially acceptable in this place to come to someone's house and set it on fire, before bringing your friends inside to start murdering its inhabitants. [ Okay, yes. At this point it's not thiny veiled annoyance anymore. This is obvious annoyance that she doesn't bother to hide. ] And before anyone asks me if I'm alright— I'm fine. Totally fine. I mean, I half-turned into a beast back there, but it's clearly cool. It's fine.

[ It's clearly not fine. The sarcasm is thick.

Though Ange seems to realise that's not why she was supposed to make this message, and manages to snap herself out of passive-aggressive-ville for just long enough to sigh and sound a little bit more neutral as she speaks on. ]

Anyway, we want to rebuild the house, but that's obviously something we need help with. None of us are exactly architects.. I think. I've learned to not question weird Remnant hobbies. [ You never know what those Remnant people are capable of. ] Not to mention we'd need help with the actual physical rebuilding itself too.

We could use help from a lot of people, so if anyone would be willing to help, that'd be great.

.. I know you won't. [ That was definitely a tiny pause because it's so much to hear Ruby say this stuff. In a good way, though. It reminds Ange exactly of just why she cares so much about the other. Of what she sees in Ruby, something that burns so brightly in this moment.

She could say so much here too. She's a little tempted to say that even if Ruby might not let anything keep them apart, the stuff in this place is sometimes a little too powerful for either of them to do anything about.

But she doesn't want to say anything that pessimistic in the face of Ruby being so sweet. ]

You're really cool when you say stuff like that, you know. [ Ange's voice is soft and relatively gentle. In that sort of way that makes it very obvious she means what she says here. Ruby may be a little ditzy, but she's also so strong and cool and sweet, and Ange loves her so much for it. ]

[Ruby is aware she only has so much control in the matter but it wont stop her from fighting every step of the way. That's just who she was and she wouldn't give up for the people she cares for. Not in a million years, especially not the person she cares for most around here.

Still she hears the softness in Ange's voice and she can't help but get a little wobbly in her step. She also was incredibly weak to Ange when she got like this.]

Cool, huh?

I guess- I mean- I'm just trying to match up to the coolest girl I know around here. You know?

[ Ange lets out a soft breath. ]

I can't ever compliment you without you hitting me right back with it, huh?

[ Not that she minds. It's just the way things are between the two of them. It's just how things work when you're.. well, completely crazy about each other, even Ange has to admit to herself. It makes her chest all tight and threatens to only embarrass her further, but she tries to accept that feeling this time. ]

I'm not even the one who's going around here and making such sweet promises right now. [ Not that Ange wouldn't do the same for Ruby. Of course she would. She also doesn't intend to let anyone tear them apart.

But it's definitely a little easier for the other girl to say out loud than it is for her. Ange figures Ruby just knows the same counts for her. ]

[Ruby just gives Ange a little smirk.]

If you're going to come at me, you better come at me strong.

[She knew that Ange would go as far as she would for her. She didn't need to see it, she had known Ange long enough to have a good idea of where she stood on things.]

No- But there's nothing stopping you from starting.

Oh, hush! You totally know the same counts for me.

[ There's no way they don't know that about each other by now - especially with how often they've done their best to try to drag each other out of dangerous situations. If they hadn't been so unfortunately separated last time around, then surely they would somehow have managed to get out of the burning house together, Ange just knows it. It's why she didn't give up looking for Ruby until she was absolutely sure the other girl wasn't present in that burning chaos - either because she was gone, or because she was dead. ]

I might have said I'll hold your hand in public, but I haven't said a thing about public declarations of undying love, you know! [ A loophole!! ]

[Ruby certainly did know that.

But she also knew Ange had given her the perfect weapon to use against her. That loophole was actually just what she needed.]

Ange- Did you just declare your undying love for me on the network!?

My gosh!

[entreats]

W-What?

[ That sounds genuinely surprised for a moment. It seems that Ruby managed to use that against her very, very succesfully..

Especially since she definitely does not recover after that moment of silence. ]

I.. I didn't say anything like that! Did I?! [ God, w-wait, did she?! ]

You did! You totally did!

At least you're openly talking about them in public.

[Ruby is absolutely just razzing her at this point. But it's totally adorable to see Ange like that.]

I think that in itself counts as a public declaration of love.

[entreats]

I'm just mentioning the words. The words! I didn't even say anything that could be considered a declaration of undying love! [ Not in public, anyway.

Ruby should know, considering how often Ange does say sappy stuff when it's just the two of them.. When her heart can actually handle it..

Though Ange is too far gone in fluster to really consider the fact that Ruby is just teasing her here. ]

It doesn't count unless I at the very least say "I love you"..!! And even that's too simple! Much too simple! [ Sign #1 that Ange is flustered: rambling. ]

[ Ruby is just a little bit too good at this.

Good enough to make Ange let out a gutteral growl. ]

Ruby Rose! I know where you are!

[ Upsides of being in the same house, even now they've been forced out of their old one.. ]

I'm coming over to throttle you right now!

[Ruby let's out a yelp. She has pushed her luck too far.]

You'll never catch me!

Even if you do! You love me too much to kill me!

Do I, Ruby?!

[ Hey, guess what, Rubles.

Ange is standing up.

Maybe she's really coming for you. ]

Do you want to put that last part to the test? [ Please, Ange. As if the other girl isn't 100% right in this case. ]
