[ Rey looks awkward in front of the camera, this is not her natural element. She doesn't enjoy calling attention to herself, and this feels very self-indulgent, but save walking around and polling anyone she comes across this seems like the most efficient way to ask her questions. ]

Hello. For those of you who don't know me which is- probably a lot of you, my name is Rey.

[ She pauses, chewing on the inside of her bottom lip briefly as she tries to think of how to proceed. ]

I'm wondering how those of you who are used to running for your lives, or fighting every day to survive have settled here. How you found things to be useful to the community.

I was a pilot and a scavenger back home, there doesn't seem to be much call for either of those things here.

So I was just wondering how others adjusted.

"Control" is a bit of an overstatement.

[ Because really she couldn't control it, not entirely. She had learned what it felt like to open her mind and her heart to him and the ache it caused every time that wound started to rip open again reminded her to block it out. Lock it down. ]

I can block it to a certain extent.

And so you've blocked me out.

[ their connection had felt so right, as their alliance however brief had been in Snoke's throne room. And then she'd rejected him, not once but twice. By refusing his proposal and shutting him away.

He almost takes his lightsaber to the walls right then and there. ]

[ She doesn't need to be open to him to know he's hurt. Part of her thinks good, but it is overshadowed by that ache that was just as present even when she was pretending everything was fine. ]

You sent bounty hunters after me. Maybe I don't trust you with my mind. But you know where I live.

[ Which had been a foolish move in retrospect, bringing him to her home. She seemed to have a blind spot when it came to him, no matter what she did to minimize it. ]

Don't worry, I have no intentions of showing up to your house unannounced.

[ ... ]

Though, need I remind you, that you invited me in.

[ maybe it would be of some comfort to tell her where he lives, put them on more equal footing. but he's not really feeling all that comforting right now. ]

[ She gives him a hollow look, before reciting (because she clearly had memorized it): ]

"Wanted: for the assassination of Supreme Leader Snoke and seditious crimes against the First Order. Considered armed and highly dangerous."

I know what I did.

[ huh. so he pinned Snoke's death on Rey. obviously, that makes sense given he was still ranked within the order. ]

The second part of that is true. Tell me, how many of them actually tried?

I appreciated your help, it won't happen again.

Five, so far. Five people I had to kill because you chose power over me.

[ She bristles, not acknowledging his appreciation. ]

[ Kylo grits his teeth, steels himself - to him the rejection was only a short time ago, and still... fresh. ]

I offered you my hand. A place at my side as an equal and a chance to make your own place in this story. You chose a dying cause.

[ Rey scoffs, heat rising to her cheeks as she tears her eyes angrily away from the screen for a moment before looking back at him. ]

They were only dying because you wouldn't order a ceasefire. I would never be by your side while my friends were dying and you could have stopped it.
