[ Rey looks awkward in front of the camera, this is not her natural element. She doesn't enjoy calling attention to herself, and this feels very self-indulgent, but save walking around and polling anyone she comes across this seems like the most efficient way to ask her questions. ]

Hello. For those of you who don't know me which is- probably a lot of you, my name is Rey.

[ She pauses, chewing on the inside of her bottom lip briefly as she tries to think of how to proceed. ]

I'm wondering how those of you who are used to running for your lives, or fighting every day to survive have settled here. How you found things to be useful to the community.

I was a pilot and a scavenger back home, there doesn't seem to be much call for either of those things here.

So I was just wondering how others adjusted.

I always liked building things. I once fixed a ship that had been under sand for almost thirty years from junk back to spaceworthy.

[ She's proud of that, even if it was a bittersweet memory, the first time she thought she had friends. ]

[ Even in his tone there's something genuinely impressed. Sure, the spaceship angle of it is totally foreign to him, especially when it's being discussed relatively casually, but when he tries to think of it like a boat or a car, it's a lot easier to process. ]

That's amazing! [ Hey, Daniel can appreciate a good vehicle restoration, especially to that extent. ] It sounds like you've got a real knack for it. And I definitely think that sort of talent could come in useful in a place like these. There's so many things that could be built here to make life a little easier here, you know?

[ Especially since this place - at least for him - seems to be very, very backwards. Like it's from a much older time. ]

[ That idea makes Rey smile a little and she nods her head. ]

I could see myself building things to help improve this place. I've already got a work shed.

[ There's a tiny pause, and then a hum - as if he's considering something. ]

Have you ever worked on cars?

[ She said 'ship, after all. And while spaceships and cars are pretty different, they're both vehicles, right. There's at least some stuff they've got to have in common, even if Daniel has no idea what spaceships are like where she comes from. ]

Y— no. Not the kind that I think you mean, anyway. The design might not be too far off from speeders though.

I figured.

[ He at least sounds understanding about it, since - well, he did figure, like he says. ]

If you want to check out their design sometime, I have one here with me. It just washed up after me on the beach. [ A sentence that would be ridiculous to say in any other context, but.. well, this is just the regular Trench nonsense that Daniel is slowly starting to get used to. ] It might give you more ideas for tinkering.

[ Just in general. Seeing technology from another world could be inspiring, right? ]

[ Rey smiles, nodding her head. ]

My old speeder washed up the same way. It's funny how that happens. But I'd love to look your car over!

[ Thankfully the same thing happened to her. 'A vehicle washed up from the sea' is a slightly less weird story when someone else has seen the very same thing happen with their own eyes, after all. ]

And I sure wouldn't mind seeing your speeder either. I'm sure it'd be fascinating to vehicles from another world. It's not exactly a chance I've had yet. [ Considering that Trench doesn't exactly seem vehicle-heavy.. ]

Of course, I'll bring it with me when I come by. I don't love traveling by lanterns so I'd be riding it anyway.

Sounds good to me.

[ Sure, Daniel has gotten used to the lantern travel and all, but.. he can see why it's kind of weird, or why it might be even uncomfortable to other people. Especially since he comes from a world without anything even remotely like it.

So there's absolutely no judgement on his end. Instead he keeps his tone warm, amicable. ]

Let's see each other with our vehicles sometime soon then. I'm looking forward to it.
