Greetings to the city of Trench, the survivors of the Nightmare, and any of you that just apparently washed up here with no connection to any of this. My name is Dipper Pines and I have a few very important questions for everyone. Firstly:

I have but I actually need to ask you something about it. Did yours uh …change back? Because mine did somehow. I haven’t figured out what’s triggering the change between the weirdly glowy state and the normal state of our blood. No one else in my family’s blood seems to do that, either.
Which is to say, the four of us have checked and we all have different blood. SUPER WEIRD.
If you get the reference then you are definitely also a huge nerd. Anyway, it’ll just be on the network. I’m not changing my actual nickname. That would get confusing since Alcaid is my Omen’s name.

It did, but...maybe it depends on the when. I was thinking a lot about it, since there's not really that much to do right now. Maybe it matters when we do it? We were thinking it was strange for our blood to do it at all, right? What if it has to happen at a specific time? I haven't experimented on that yet, I'm just guessing, but still. And no one else in your family has it either?
Man, I'm getting more curious about this stuff. I better ask Varian and Fern about THEIR blood too. Luckily, we're all in the same place so that won't be too hard.

Yes, actually! We talked about it before I came here: Vira was going her own way, and I figured I ought to too, do something different. What better place to go then with the guys I care about who are closer to my age?

That’s legit. They could probably use someone like you around the house, honestly. I’ll see you all the time, too, since I’ll probably be over there a lot.
[Coping!! Anyway, Alcaid chirps but in a weird kind of echoey way. Spooky. They flutter up and perch on Dipper’s head.]
They kind of look like Mothman? But small and round and pocket sized. Other than that, they seem pretty original.

Since you brought up Cynthia and that maybe being the connection with our blood …what um. What did you do in her vision? What decision did you make. When she asked to- you know.

I think they could to. I'm not one for spewing gender nonsense, but they're teen boys, they're probably not super into being tidy. If Varian wasn't a genius and Fern a plant with a warrior archetype, that might be OK. But they're also like my big brothers, so no way are they going to be living in a junk heap where Varian'll probably be sleeping with his work and Fern is stabbing himself with swords everywhere, you know?

Dipper, she wanted to be free. So. I freed her. And hopefully that's the last time I have to do something like that again.

[What Dipper thinks, but does not say, is that he’s glad, too, that Luz has somewhere to go where he knows SHE will be looked after, too.]
[His voice drops into something soft and wry when she answers.]
Understood. I just wondered if maybe …our blood might be connected to that decision. You and I made the same choice.

If it is connected, then blessing. That decision was …maybe one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do, but I stand by it. Sometimes to help someone, you have to do something terrible.
Everything we saw of her after that choice reaffirms that, I think. She’s happy now, she’s free. I don’t think she would punish us for that.

Yeah, you're right. I'm not sure how that really works, but maybe what she needed was to be free of what...Deerington was? Actually, saying that out loud, that makes a lot of sense.

That's definitely an interesting question. I think there is a lot for us to find out here. Whatever we knew back in the dream, we're going to have to toss it out because the way this place works? It's a whole different world with all different rules. It's exciting, but at the same time, it kind of gives me the heebie-jeebies.
