Yeah kinda! I couldn’t think of anything better than just “Dipper” before but Alcaid is my Omen’s name and it’s the name of a star in the Big Dipper constellation so it seems fitting?

I have but I actually need to ask you something about it. Did yours uh …change back? Because mine did somehow. I haven’t figured out what’s triggering the change between the weirdly glowy state and the normal state of our blood. No one else in my family’s blood seems to do that, either.

Which is to say, the four of us have checked and we all have different blood. SUPER WEIRD.

If you get the reference then you are definitely also a huge nerd. Anyway, it’ll just be on the network. I’m not changing my actual nickname. That would get confusing since Alcaid is my Omen’s name.

I haven’t tasted the blue blood yet but I will say mine had a sort of …sour taste to it maybe? Definitely different from the standard tinny flavor of normal blood.

My blood is blue, smoky, and it solidifies as soon as it's out of my body. It seems to be blue both inside and out, and it was able to crystallize into ice on the pirate ship I got trapped on. It reacts to metal that way and freezes it.

I'm guessing it has something to do with the fact that I make ice now, which shouldn't be possible. What's yours doing?

Mine uh. I’m still sort of figuring mine out? It doesn’t seem quite as obvious as some of the others. It turns kind of white and glowy sometimes and so far I’ve gotten weird moments of ESP.

I'm not exactly in the game of forcing myself to bleed and tasting it, but I did notice when I got cut earlier that it was blue and smoky. Seemed to solidify fast too. If you want to do some testing though, I can cut a hand open for a moment. It'll heal.

That everyone has really funky blood, like I suspected, and that so far there’s only about four kinds? Maybe more but I have a large number of four distinct types of blood.

Alcaid is the name of a star! It’s one of the stars that makes up a constellation I get my nickname from.

I discovered early on that my blood has turned greenish from its usual healthy red. This has had an interesting effect on my complexion, giving my usual Northern European beige complexion a greenish tint in the shadows. (Side note: Wasn't there some space opera TV show which had an alien species with greenish blood? I recall my medical school dorm mate watching something like that on full blast on his thirty pound 'portable' TV. This was the 1970s.) Also, it smells of especially strong and poisonously sweet lilies, reminiscent of the scent from a variety in my world of origin, known as the Stairway to the Sun Lily.

I had traces of genetic material from that species in my system, due to having been exposed to a pathogen which lives in symbiosis with this plant. I've wondered if this has any bearing on this particular transmutation?

It's a kind of Greenish black color and it has a pretty strong floral scent, like a bouquet of roses. I haven't noticed it do anything strange, though the area did kind of go numb, but I figured that was from the crab bites.

Anyway, mine's blue now- kinda smokey, too. Within a few seconds of it being exposed to the air, it freezes solid. It doesn't freeze inside my body, at least? Though people have told me I'm really cold to the touch but I don't feel anything.

I think so. I’ve been thinking that over actually and trying to reconcile it with some of my early theories from before we left the Dream. (You know, after I remembered them.)

I think the blood is a direct result of what we’ve been reborn as, and the squid thing was like …a transition, maybe? Because when we were in the dream, I don’t believe we were corporeal. When we woke up we needed somewhere physical to go, and the choices we made at the end determined that.

This is all just me theorizing of course, I have no idea if I’m right, but, it seems like its all related! It does beg the kind of existential question of what we are now, though, right?

MILK, that’s what it was. I have been trying to put my finger on that smell for a few days. That’s what mine does, too, so it looks like we have the same blood. That’s four, possibly five so far for Glowstick Blood.

Sure! I’m still gathering data but it looks like there’s so far four distinct different kinds. There MIGHT be a fifth but I need to gather a few more reports of it first before I lump it in with another type. It seems like each blood has it’s own properties and the Blue Blood is heavily elemental.

Our blood seems to lend itself to uhh mental stuff? Empathy, visions, and some mind reading.

There is only a little I can add to your data that you don't already have. Mine is another blue blood that hardens when it leaves my body. I can use it to manipulate ice and call it forth.

When I was on a pirate ship, their armory kept vials of blood. Some of their weapons had elemental traces. I saw only three elements - fire, ice, and lightning.

I’m not asking for people to bleed EXACTLY, I am just inquiring as to the state of ones blood currently. They just might have to bleed in order to tell me, that’s all.

Anyway, it’s because everyone’s blood seems to have gotten super weird once we came out of the ocean and I’d like to understand why. Collecting data in a situation where we really know very little about our setting!

A lot of us seem to have gotten powers that are difficult to control. If I can share information that helps people, then it can probably do a lot of good.
