O-Oh, it's not like a real heart. It's more like a magical heart.

Why didn't magic just heal the heart?

It's more like the pieces were lost. And I had to find them to return his feelings to him.

How does one lose pieces of their heart?

It's magic. When he broke his heart, the pieces, the feelings spread all over.

That seems like a fatal flaw of the magic where you're from.

I guess? Magic doesn't really follow rules.

What makes you say that?

Anything with meaning or structure has rules. Things you can and can't do with it. Gestures, words or personal energies you have to put into it to make it work.

Energy itself may be unrefined and chaotic, but to use it, I expect there has to be structured rules.

The person I got this from . . . he could make stories come to life. And stories don't usually have rules.
