Greetings, hello, salutations. My name is Ianthe Naberius. I’m new in town, twenty two, a princess of Ida, unfortunately single and dreadfully bored!

Now, I come to you today, not only to introduce myself, but to ask something of all of you.

Who do you hate most in Trench and why? I’m trying to meet people, network, but it’s so hard and overwhelmingly positive! So consider this an open invitation. Warn me about that dangerous scoundrel who kicked your puppy, seethe about how much you despise me for whatever reason, tell me about your parasocial hateful fixation on one of the local divinity. It can be a minor slight you want to complain about, a friend of yours who owes you two perfectly intact human skulls, or it can be an actual danger to this lovely little community of ours.

Now, before you try to say “this is childish and stupid!” You’re absolutely right, but it is a necessary part of self care to allow oneself to be an absolute cunt once in a while. [Or all the time, if your name is Ianthe.] So let’s not make any grand claims to being above something like this, mm?

Feel free to use the anonymity feature. Or the privacy feature, I guess, if you’re shy or worried about being fileted like a fish.

[He wonders if Ianthe is serious or just being a troll. He's well-acquainted with the latter habit. As for Maul, he's not going to take this too seriously himself. He asks in a dry tone with a bland look on his face:]

Do you want the short list or the long?

[Finally, someone who has their priorities in order.]

My good man, I want it all.

Oh good!

[Really, Maul's a shameless gossip and he's interacted with a LOT of Trench by this point. This really is going to be a long list. He begins ticking them off on his fingers.]

Let us see....from my own galaxy there is Anakin Skywalker. A whiny, arrogant, selfish boy who is constantly dragging everyone else down around him into a state of drama. He's very good at inflicting pain on people he claims to care about. Small wonder considering he has about five braincells. I hate him with a fiery passion. Another calls himself Kylo Ren. Also arrogant and easily riled up, for he has a quick temper. Not nearly so odious as Skywalker and I don't quite hate him but he irks me too much to enjoy his presence.

There is a witch named Willow. She is one of those I hate the most. She's completely two-faced. She'll claim to be all sweet and innocent until her true colors show. Then she'll massacre people and enjoy it with a smile on her face. The latter trait would not bother me so much if she had not killed my brother trying to gain revenge on me for killing her at some point before. She claimed to be his friend and then killed him without a second thought. For that, I'll never forgive her. Only finding the true culprit responsible for it saved me from killing her again. People just gave her a slap on the wrist and a pat on the head going 'Poor you' for going on a killing spree. But do I get the same courtesies? Of course not. She has an ally, a woman named Faith, who is a hypocritical mess. She wants to do better but can't seem to rise above the mud she finds herself mired in. But it is a good place for her to be at. Someone like that deserves to be where she's at.

Let's see....among the Pthumerians, there is Mother Mercy. Never trust her, for all she cares about is the power she can receive from the Sleepers. She was in the dream before this one as Mother Superior. She claimed one moment to care about Sleepers while having no trouble putting them through agony the next as long as it gave her what she wanted. She was reborn here after a sort-of death but I have no doubt she has not changed her ways. In fact, I'd say trust none of them. They enjoy causing us suffering far too much for me to believe any of them ever to be benevolent. The worst of them is the Reckoning. They have a warped sense of justice and will go after anyone who fits their rather broad parameters of needing to be killed for what they've done in their past.

Now, getting back to the Sleepers....there is a young man here named Lance. I despise him quite a bit for he killed my husband, and much to my eternal ire, I was unable to kill him in return. A revenge left uncompleted like that leaves a bad taste in my mouth. He's a complete idiot and I've no doubt he'll blow up half the city at some point because of his immense powers.

There is a witch named Luna who I hate quite passionately as well. She, along with Willow and a wizard who has since left, placed a curse on me ostensibly to make me "become a better person" and "make better choices" but really it was out of fear and a sense of their own need for revenge. She always seems to be ready to punish me for anything I do purely because she despises me for things I've done in my past. For someone who claims to be a good person, she is quick to pass out punishments.

[Then his voice, which has been steadily growing more angry, reaches peak fury. The look on his face grows full of hatred as well.]

Then there is the one who calls himself the Emperor. Emperor of what I do not know or care. But his selfish meddling caused Willow to come after me, so I blame him entirely for my brother's and my own death. For that, I hate him more than anyone else here, and will never forgive him for what he's done. Revenge is tough to gain upon him but I'm satisfied those I sent after him got the job done. [He really needs to send D a meat basket at some point in thanks for that. Reaper, well, Maul's already shown his appreciation for that right in the bedroom.] He seems content to just run roughshod over everyone around him and mess with things he has no business doing so with as long as it gets him what he wants. Then has the audacity to throw a fit when people tell him how much of an idiot he is and not fall down in worship at his feet. He claims to be a god but gods don't bleed or die in my experience. He's just an arrogant little man who likes to pretend he's far more important than he actually is.

[And with that, he's finally done. He did say it was quite a long list and so it was!]

[She listens to all of his ranting without reacting at all, all with the small smile of someone blatantly loving this. Willow sounds delightful, she does love a girlboss. From the sounds of all this whining, she thinks it's probably more complicated than he's making it out to be, but she kind of hopes not.

It's only when his face grows more severe that her interest turns the slightest bit less passive. The Emperor died, hm. Which means he must have been significantly weakened, or just holding back for whatever reason.

There's even the slightest hint of irritation at this strange little angry man for speaking so flippantly about John when she's had to tiptoe around him and bear the brunt of his anger for the past six months after all his duplicitous sluts left him. She's curious, though, her lips curling into a smile that shows no feeling other than a hollow interest.]

Well! What a way to kick things off.

You said he sent her after you? This Emperor character?

There's a yowling cat of a flesh mage that may or may not be living in the sewers. Do NOT offer her tea and biscuits-- that is offensive to her and she will go for the kill.

She is a difficult opponent don't try to fight her.

Also: were I not a taken man, Duty is easy enough on the eyes that I would consider pursuing. In a different lifetime, of course.

Oh yeah, definitely. With all the weird stuff that changes every month and the monsters and stuff, it would make it a lot easier if I didn't have to worry about not getting too upset about all of it.

Fuck every single Pthumerian in this place but there's a special place in hell for the one called Riteoir. If I ever figure out how to kill one of these motherfuckers, that's the first one I'm gunning for and I'm gonna make sure it hurts.

Can't help much on the hate list though. I don't claim to be above it or anything, it just takes a lot for me to dislike someone enough to make a particular note of it.

I have heard of something called Mother Mercy being pretty bad news, but I'm getting that secondhand. Better safe than sorry though, right?

[Jin Guangyao is not alone in this strategy. He can't take everything spewed here at face value, of course, but who knows when a little bit of information might help nudge hearts and minds?

A lot of the people who came here from Deerington might call her Mother Superior. She says she's reformed but she is Very Bad News and did things that are unforgivable.
