[reading all of this several times, a churning of many feelings, a brewing storm that's trying to settle - because it's a change of tone from the jinx of weeks ago, and she can't feel the malice she'd felt then. of course, they've talked about this at length. none of it's easy, but she hopes that some of what she'd said has taken root, sunk in beneath whatever voices might whisper. there is no displacement. not ever, no matter what. she thinks that those hopes are somewhat realized - and that teases out an uneasy smile that doesn't quite know where to go.

cait has every right to be jumpy. there's nothing vi can say that could prove jinx's progress, it's just got to unfold. she can watch, though - and wait, and hope and shove her anxiety elsewhere.

what she doesn't want to do is butt in. she's having a hard time refraining, but that's where the trust comes in.]

( there's a wave of an obnoxious glee flowing her sister's way as she chats along with cait. picture yourself sitting at the bar at the last drop and some drunkard nearby is in all smiles. they wander over and aggressively pats you in the back with outburst laughter that's way too loud in your ears. it's annoying, but harmless. a "oh c'mon, lighten up! everyone is always so serious around here" nudge.

the point is: there's no trace of killing or wanting to kill sensation in this emotion. maybe a hint of wishing the person wasn't here but no deadly threats. a huge contrast when she first heard of caitlyn's arrival. so vi is right on the money of not sensing that anywhere. just being a brat. )

[what sister wouldn't be grateful for this contrast. bratty? not mad about that at all, she'll welcome bratty over murderous any day. vi's been a bit of a brat to cait, all in good nature, but still. troll away, sis. be your best, less murderous self.]
