[ The feed clicks on to reveal a blonde woman with green eyes staring into the camera. It takes a few moments before she adjusts the angle to give a better view of her face, one that it isn't so close up. She gives a warm smile. ]
Sorry about that! Still, getting used to this, uh, device.
[ Her accent is unmistakenly American. ]
Anyway. I'm Laurel Lance and I've been here for a little over a week now. Not going to lie, it's been a lot to take in, but I think I'm getting there. I just have a couple of questions for people.
Firstly, where has the best coffee?
Secondly, is there a gym or something like it around?
Last but not least, I'm wondering if there's a need for legal advice in this place. I'm a lawyer back home.
Thank you for taking the time to listen.
[ With that, Laurel ends the feed. ]

[She gives a nod.]
Yeah. Seems like the number of people who haven't been there is growing though. I'm not going to be too surprised if they start outnumbering the ones who have been there.
I remember that feeling. Don't sweat being new too much. The experience only helps out so much sometimes. This place and the dream like to throw curve balls. As long as you're willing to learn and roll with the punches you'll do just fine here.

[Laurel asks, realising that she has yet to meet anyone new like her. Everyone she has spoken to seem to have been from the last place.]
Believe me, I know all about rolling with the punches. But thanks for the advice, I appreciate it. I think I am just going to keep any open mind about this place as well and learn as much as I can from other people as well as doing my own research. Least it'll give me something to do!

The only pattern I've noticed was everyone washes up on the beach. The first month there was a lot of us from the dream with a few new faces around. Then this month it seemed like it was mostly new people.
I don't know if it's because the dream just collapsed at that moment but it doesn't seem to be the case.
[She grins.]
You and me both. If that's the case I think you'll be fine. On the bright side everyone is pretty fresh here so there's more than likely a lot to discover and no one's really an "expert" anymore.

[Laurel will store away the information for later like she's done with everything she has heard so far from people here.]
Then I guess I will have to share anything I find out with other people. When I'm a little more adjusted, I think. I still need to find a more permanent place to stay and maybe a job or something. I want to contribute in a positive way.
[And also not be stuck with nothing to do.]
What's home like for you?

[She gives a nod slowly.]
Well I can't help you find a permanent place but I can help you with the job if your goals are to help out. I run a safehouse system with my friend Mako. Basically if things get dangerous it's a place for Sleepers to band together and protect one another. I'd be happy to get your help there.
[She pauses briefly and taps her chin.]
Home was... Kind of like this actually. It was divided into four kingdoms. They were safest places to go as the rest of our world is kind of overrun with monsters.
I was a Huntress. It was my job fight those monsters and protect the people. You know, kind of a heroic mercenary style of job.

[Laurel is very determined.]
You fight monsters? Makes you kind of a badass, if I'm being honest. I've never had to face any monsters back home, but I have gotten into a couple of fights. With people, I mean. Bad people who want to attack my city and harm those who live in it.
