[ The feed clicks on to reveal a blonde woman with green eyes staring into the camera. It takes a few moments before she adjusts the angle to give a better view of her face, one that it isn't so close up. She gives a warm smile. ]

Sorry about that! Still, getting used to this, uh, device.

[ Her accent is unmistakenly American. ]

Anyway. I'm Laurel Lance and I've been here for a little over a week now. Not going to lie, it's been a lot to take in, but I think I'm getting there. I just have a couple of questions for people.

Firstly, where has the best coffee?

Secondly, is there a gym or something like it around?

Last but not least, I'm wondering if there's a need for legal advice in this place. I'm a lawyer back home.

I started off in a not-for-profit that represented people who couldn't afford a lawyer. Then I eventually became an Assistant District Attorney.

[ So yeah, criminal would be accurate. ]

Dude. I have bad news. Coffee is apparently fucking scarce. There was some in the house I moved into but I'm not sure where else to get it, although I'm pretty sure someone is growing some.

Haven't seen a gym, but that's some people who'll teach you to fight around.

Least I know for sure. Might have to end up going door to door and ask if they could spare some. But growing it? That's a good idea.

I've seen a little, yeah. Guess my skills will have to be transferable if nobody needs a lawyer.

Yeah, Vira-Lorr. She's great. Three eyes, hard to miss, runs a fortune telling setup just at the edge of Cellar Door on Hypogean Way, close to Gaze.

[ Of course, their first meeting wasn't as auspicious as it could have been. Went far better than he figured it would, considering what they were doing. He's dressed in typical Trench fashion and digging some stuff out of some boxes in his shop. He grins. ]

[ She was grateful for his help back home. Sara was better and everything was as it should be. Though Laurel wouldn't exactly consider them close, she is open to the idea of getting to know him here.

[ The mention of yoga has her quirking an eyebrow. ]

Yoga classes, really? I'll get back to you on that.

[ Laurel can usually tell when she's being lied to. ]

Were they good at their job?

I am seriously a lawyer. The long hours of study and sleepless nights were hard, but I think it was worth it in the end. I get to help people.

I don't know how they got their jobs or trained but there wasn't a lot of crime so I guess they did something right.

[ Flynn turns on the feed with a little wave. It feels strange to just... talk to people on this thing, still, and he doesn't feel right without a greeting. It just seems rude. ]

I haven't yet found a dedicated exercise facility but if you're looking for someone to train with, I could use the same thing. At the least I have access to a backyard and a few training dummies.

Did you have a plan for what law you would specialise in?

Huh. Maybe they're doing things wrong back where I'm from. There's a lot of crime.

[ She thinks about how her dad would react to that as a long serving cop. ]

Anyway. What's your name?

[lightinside]

[Will is the second kid that Laurel has seen here. Making her wonder what kind of place would take kids from their home? But she doesn't show that. Instead, she gives Will a warm smile.]

Hey. No need to apologise. Thanks for taking the time to respond.

But, mushrooms? I'm not sure how'd that taste.

[ Laurel gives him a wave in return and smiles. ]

It's a little unconventional, but I think I could make it work. I'm used to training indoors. Are you sure it's okay? I mean, you don't know me.

Really? That would be great. Only if he can spare some, I'd totally trade something in return. What that is? I don't know yet.

[All she has right now is her legal skills, self-defense skills and things she brought from home. Which includes her vigilante gear and a motorbike.]

I think I am. Everyone's been helpful and I have my sister here.

Yeah, just finished my undergrad.

Uhm, civil rights. My dad's a city attorney and the idea of doing that makes me wanna die. Not that it really matters now.
