[ The feed clicks on to reveal a blonde woman with green eyes staring into the camera. It takes a few moments before she adjusts the angle to give a better view of her face, one that it isn't so close up. She gives a warm smile. ]

Sorry about that! Still, getting used to this, uh, device.

[ Her accent is unmistakenly American. ]

Anyway. I'm Laurel Lance and I've been here for a little over a week now. Not going to lie, it's been a lot to take in, but I think I'm getting there. I just have a couple of questions for people.

Firstly, where has the best coffee?

Secondly, is there a gym or something like it around?

Last but not least, I'm wondering if there's a need for legal advice in this place. I'm a lawyer back home.

Wait, actual cats? That's crazy, and yet I don't think you're lying.

[ Laurel can usually tell when she's being lied to. ]

Were they good at their job?

[rocinantes]

Actual cats, yeah.

( he knows how that sounds. )

I don't know how they got their jobs or trained but there wasn't a lot of crime so I guess they did something right.

[lightinside]

Huh. Maybe they're doing things wrong back where I'm from. There's a lot of crime.

[ She thinks about how her dad would react to that as a long serving cop. ]

Anyway. What's your name?

[rocinantes]

Amos Burton.

( he nods. )

I'd say it's good to meet you but I think we'd have to know each other a little more before I decide that.

[lightinside]

Which is fair. I'm not going to argue with you, Amos.

[ She replies with a smile. Bad lawyer joke. ]

Asking me a few questions might help though. If you want.

[rocinantes]

You wanna play twenty questions with me?

( all right, that's fine. )

Where do you come from?

[lightinside]

Star City. Formerly known as 'Starling City' until 2015.

[ She decides to include that detail. ]

Lived there my whole life.

[rocinantes]

I've never heard of it. I'm from Baltimore.

( and he hadn't ventured too far out of there. )

And then caught a flight to space where I've been kicking around for awhile.

[lightinside]

Baltimore, I know. Never been.

[ No one seemed to have heard of where she's from. ]

Might be an obvious or possibly a stupid question, but are you an astronaut?

[rocinantes]

Mechanic. Space travel's a lot more advanced where I come from.

( he was not going to dress in that ridiculous astronaut gear. )

I can do everything an astronaut can do but it's not the only thing I do. I make sure the ships stays in the sky. I shoot things. Right now, I'm part of a small crew on a Martian warship.

[lightinside]

[ Yeah. She is just going to take a moment for that to sink in. ]

Honestly, your life sounds like the plot of a science fiction movie, but okay, you've got my attention.

[ There's a pause. ]

My world has superheroes and time travel. Which I guess, also sounds like a movie plot.

[rocinantes]

Time travel?

( the superheroes he's going to just...let go because he's met a few of those already. time travel is a new one. )

How the hell does that work?

[lightinside]

Having a ship that can travel through time helps with that.

[ Just don't ask Laurel to explain the how or the real scientific part. She has no idea. ]

But I haven't time travelled myself.

[rocinantes]

Would you want to?

( he doesn't know his own answer to that question. )

[lightinside]

[ She knows that time shouldn't be messed with. ]

Maybe to go see the dinosaurs or something. A quick trip.

[rocinantes]

Wouldn't try and fix something that got fucked up in your life?

( he thinks he'd be tempted but he knows that doing that could cause a bunch of other shit to go off track. )

[lightinside]

[ It's a good question. One she has an answer for. ]

If I did, I don't think I'd be the same person I am now.

[rocinantes]

Too big a risk, huh?

( yeah, he thinks he can understand that. )

Don't think I'd do it either.

[lightinside]

Then I guess we have that in common.

[ Which is okay be her. ]

Got any more questions for me? I've lost count.

[rocinantes]

( considering the blood and all, he thinks it's a good question. )

Not particularly. Why'd you ask?

[ Because she isn't sure where this is going. ]

Because I was gonna ask what you thought of the whole blood thing here but you might not know about it yet.

Yeah, I know about the while blood thing. Still think I've got more to learn about it though.
