It's strange. There was a lot I wanted to do before I turned twenty.
It doesn't feel wrong to have been brought here, but I wish I wasn't by myself. I remember wanting to spend today with people I cared about, but that's not possible anymore.
[someone is very clearly brooding & feeling the effects of Cloverfield.]
People tend to roll their eyes whenever a girl talks about her feelings in a vague way for everyone to read, but if I didn't say anything about today, I'd probably feel much worse.

but still
it's not like the day is over yet, right?
what'd you get?
and also now that i know it's your birthday i can get you something
you like plants right? any plants you want?

[not going to talk about how touching it cemented her nostalgic, lonely feelings. but she holds the precious memory it sparked close to her. in the end it's just a ghost of her past life.]
And you really don't have to get me anything...it feels like I'm guilting people into getting me things. Not to mention it's hard to pick one plant out of thousands, you know?
I'm fond of all of them.

[Is it some kind of spooky cursed magic deal -]
man, no way! you're not guilting me into doing anything
people gotta figure out your birthday somehow, right? and you telling them is the easiest way for them to know
you just happen to be doing it on your birthday is all
dang ok
i'm not super good at picking out plants, i'm still learning about them
how about a lavender shrub? lavender seems like it's really useful here

[so...maybe it is? spooky cursed magic. but the memory it had her feeling wasn't spooky or cursed. it was a nice break from feeling isolated and alone.]
Hopefully by the next time my birthday comes around, I won't be feeling this way.
But, yeah. Lavender sounds nice, actually. It's a really hardy plant, easy to take care of with pretty flowers and a nice smell.
I'd like that.

was it a good memory?
yeah! now we all know so we got no excuses to miss it
and that's great, i'm pretty sure i got a skull around here that's the perfect size for a pot
[Yes, he's serious about that.]
no subject
...why a skull?
What kind of skull? I'm not really sure if that's a good idea...
no subject
usually the stuff we got in Deerington was bad
good to hear the stuff here isn't always terrible
oh it's totally cool, i got tons of monster skulls around
they make great pots for plants!

And I think I would like it in a cup or a bowl or a pot if anything. I'm not sure how I'd feel about a skull in my place.
Even if it was a monster, it feels kind of disrespectful to it.
[nevermind having a skull around is??? weird?? she's used to looking death in the eye and seeing herself as dead, but still!!]

the jist of it was a bunch of us were stuck in the dream of this little girl who was supposed to be this new being
more than just a kid between a Pthumerian and a human
but she had a real bad time, and things got worse, and uh
we kind of killed her permanently
and that might be why this world is the way it is?
if you got time i can tell you more
aw really?
that's kind of boring
but if you're sure i can find a regular pot to put it in
i'll bring it over later, where do you live?
[Skulls make excellent household decor, he will forever argue this.]

instead:]
Regular pots aren't necessarily boring.
I just don't think I'd like a skull staring back at me at my place. Even if there's a plant in it.

i guess the eye sockets count huh?
