[The feed turns on and Willow gives a little wave.]

Hi everyone. So, uh, I was talking to one of the younger Sleepers here about Halloween. She's never been trick or treating before - and I bet she's not the only one.

[She pauses for a brief second.]

Huh. I guess I should probably explain what that is - since we're all from different places, and I bet everyone has different traditions.

So at home, on the thirty-first of October, kids usually dress up in costume once it starts getting dark, and go around and knock on doors say 'trick or treat!' and people give them candy, or other treats. There doesn't really seem to be a shortage of kids around, and a lot of them are here without their parents - and there's the orphanage to think about too. I bet they've have never been trick or treating before in their lives, since it doesn't seem to be a thing here.

Anyway, I wanted to suggest that maybe we can put something together for them as a community - we'd need people to hand out candy and stuff, and probably people to make sure everyone stays safe too. I mean, from what I've heard, this isn't a regular Deerington October, but that doesn't mean we should totally let our guard down, right?

I figure it's probably a good way for anyone who knows about Halloween to get to do something that feels familiar for a night, and for anyone who doesn't know about it, it's a fun way to get out for a night and get our minds off... Well, everything else.

[Cloverfield's curse. She means Cloverfield's curse.]

Honestly, as long as I get to eat some of the candy, I don't really mind what I do.

[ She's got a bit of a sweet tooth. ]

Oh, I'm Laurel by the way. Figured you at least need my first name for your sign up list, right?

[frogfear]

[Willow laughs.]

I mean, if you're in costume, why not let the adults take part too? A lot of people seem to be missing home, or missing people from home. We could all use a little cheering up, right?

Nice to meet you - I'm Willow.

[lightinside]

Like the tree. [ She says, knowing full well of her own name. ] Nice to meet you too, Willow.

And you're right, I think people could use cheering up. I've noticed a few...strange things in my time here. Only been a couple of weeks for me, so I'm still getting used to being away from home.

[frogfear]

Yup, like the tree.

[It's not the first time she's been reminded of the origin of her name in recent memory, and she's sure Laurel probably has the same experience, so she just grins.]

It takes some getting used to. I got here in August, and I'm still kind of adjusting. I've been away from home longer than that, though.

[lightinside]

Were you in the place before here then? A few people have mentioned it to me already. It was some kind of dream?

[That's all she has been able to find out so far.]

Pretty sure my sister was there too.

[frogfear]

I was, yeah. It was a dream. Well, nightmare. It seems better here so far?

[Willow's eyebrows lift when Laurel mentions her sister.]

Oh yeah? What was her name?

[lightinside]

Sara. Sara Lance.

[Since she forgot to mention her surname before.]

She is also here too.

[frogfear]

Oh, cool. I haven't met her yet, but I bet it's just a matter of time. Seems like we all run into each other sooner or later around here.

[lightinside]

If I get a chance to introduce you both, I will. [Laurel smiles at her.]

Do you have anyone from home here, Willow?

[frogfear]

That'd be great, thanks. Never hurts to have more friends around here, that's for sure.

[She returns the smile, but it fades a little when Laurel asks about friends from home, and Willow shrugs a little.]

No, it's just me, but it's okay. I've got friends here too, they're just not from the same place I was from. Well, before Deerington, anyway.

[lightinside]

Oh. [Her expression turns sympathetic at that.] Sorry.

I'm glad that you do have friends here though. Everyone I've met seem like good people and have been so helpful so I can see myself making some friends as well.

[It's her intention anyway.]

Where are you from?

[frogfear]

It's okay. You kind of get used to it after awhile.

[She smiles a little.]

Yeah, the overwhelming majority of Sleepers here are pretty great. There's only a few that are... Well, a little less so.

I'm from California - Sunnydale, if you've ever heard of it. You?

[lightinside]

Then I guess I'll keep an eye out for those who are a 'little less so'.

[Not that she knows how many people are here in the first place.]

California? Yes. Sunnydale? No. I'm from a place called Star City - it's in Washington and not far from Seattle.

[frogfear]

They're usually pretty obvious.

[She shrugs a little. It's no surprise Laurel hasn't heard of Sunnydale.]

I guess we're all from different Earths too. I don't know Star City at all, but maybe it doesn't exist in my world, and maybe Sunnydale doesn't exist in yours. I've run into a few different people around here from different Earths. Is it weird I'm kind of used to it?

[lightinside]

I think you're right about our respective cities not existing in each other's worlds. Also, just differences in general with where people are from.

[She has friends back home who could probably explain the whole different world thing.]

Nope, I don't think it's weird. I come from a pretty weird Earth.

[frogfear]

Yeah, and different situations in each world and stuff too.

[Willow has a basic grasp of other dimensions, and how they work, but it's a complex topic, and it still was a steep learning curve upon her arrival in Deerington.]

Maybe they're just all a little weird to all of us. Since none of us really came from the same situation or anything.

[lightinside]

I guess you could be right. The only people I know who can relate to my situation are those from my world.

[But who knows? There might be others here who may be able to relate.]

Anyway, I guess I'll see you on Halloween night? I need to put together a costume.

[frogfear]

Yeah. I know what you mean. You'd be surprised sometimes, but it's still not really the same.
