Um, hello! I'd like some advice. I would have made this anonymous but I know even less about working these devices than I do about my smartphone from home, so I'm sorry about that! I feel like advice is better given in anonymity.

Say you're starting a new form of employment in a new place, and the air around the job is ... a little unsavory. Do you start working without telling anyone, to have a better understanding and personal take on the work itself, or try to come to an understanding of the position with your peers first? I don't think anything is specifically dangerous, it's more of a historical morality issue.

Unsavory was probably not the best word, my fear is that Night Walkers have been historically viewed as similar to sex work. "Unsavory" suggests I think it isn't okay to be in that field, but I more of mean it concerns me due to my age.

You're right, absolutely... It's just hard to know if it's a choice I should make without letting them know. I've depended on them both so much already.

It doesn't matter if the danger is specific or not. I've learned that you have to look out for yourself if you're going to be able to work properly. If anything might make you feel uncomfortable, I'd get more information before making any decisions. I'd ask not only your peers, but your mentors and people who work at the same place too.

In my case, I don't agree with some of the things Hunters do, but I joined anyway because I have a lot to learn, and they're not making me do stuff like kill beasts for entertainment.

That's very helpful! Someone I know from home here is also a Hunter, I think it can be a very noble job if handled correctly. I'm looking into becoming a Night Walker, as I'm a gymnast at home, so dancing and entertainment are very familiar venues to me.

You're very right, it would be far worse for them to find out by other means.

Um, they call them Night Walkers! They're entertainers, with a focus on support of those they entertain, but there's a frequent more adult view of the work.

I think talking to your friends is always the best policy. Even if it's not like the most savory work. Especially if you get into a pickle it might be better that they know even if they don't approve and suddenly you're in a bad spot because of it.

Well, I've always been very much the open minded sort, personally. If I'm going to do something I like to be bold about it relatively speaking. I think truth and freedom are always best.

But I sense this might be about something less hypothetical, yes? What sort of job around here would you say is unsavory? I hardly think I can recall anything around here that's unsavory, though the Hunters can be a little rough around the edges from time to time and the Disciples are, well, a touch odd.

Those are definitely very important values, both with oneself and others.

Unsavory was probably a poor choice of words on my part-- there's really nothing wrong with it specifically! Night Walkers have a periodic misconception of being assumed more adult entertainers than the job is usually meant, and while there's definitely nothing wrong with adult entertainment, I am neither an adult nor interested in adult entertaining.
