[Savage sounded positively aggrieved to have his brother here too. How did a simple question about animal fetishes turn into setting him up on a date?]

You need a mate. That much is certain. Ventress is not here and so you are free once more to pursue someone that will make you happy. And since you have not done so on your own account, I will have to step in and make sure it happens for you.

[As any loving, caring older brother would do when they were devoted to their younger sibling and as completely codependent as the two Zabrak brothers were.]

[Maul feels his brother would definitely make a good father, much more so than Maul himself would ever be as one.]

[That was the biggest first step when it came to finding someone for Savage, so they were already off to a good start!]

[Cue a moment of snotty younger brother showing up.]

The stubborn nature they both have in common can be an advantage much of the time but right now he just wants to smack his brother.] And I am going to see you find some here in Trench since we are going to be living here for the foreseeable future. [Possibly the rest of their lives given Maul has no desire to go back to their galaxy since Savage will still be dead there. He pauses, thinking of what Dirk told him about being decapitated and somehow still alive.] .....Considering what this somewhat humanoid being has told me, I wouldn't discount the ability to possibly have kits with him.

[Maul smirks.]

So there is no accounting for taste. But you cannot afford to be discerning in who shows interest in you. If you do not at least attempt to go on one date with him, you'll leave me no choice but to publicly announce on the network that I am looking for a mate for you.

[Savage scowled, and it sounded in his voice.] I am happy with you, and I've never needed anyone but my kin. [The more that everyone - Maul included - tried to push him away from his brother, the deeper he dug in.] I remind you that it took you time to find your mate and no one meddled from what you've told me. [He sneered at the idea of kits. It didn't elude him that he was literally the only one of their bloodline with the ability to sire.] He's probably blowing smoke.

[One date. He didn't date; it wasn't a Nightbrother activity so he wouldn't even know how. He also didn't care to learn so far.]

Don't you dare even threaten that! You're my brother, but I will cave your skull in if you humiliate me in such a way!

As I have been attempting to teach you, being solitary can be a detriment in more ways than one to a Sith. You need to do as I have done. Cultivate allies and even friends. [It seemed like he was getting along better with Usagi so that was a good first step in the right direction. Maul continued to argue when Savage brought up Reaper.] But I did find one in due time. You, on the other claw, are not even looking and therefore need a good shove in the right direction.

[He saw that Savage's hackles were now up with what he'd told him. Oh, now it was on. Savage could roar and snarl all he liked, Maul still knew he could kick his little brother's ass any day of the week. His voice rose up in volume too.]

Then quit being a stubborn ass and do as you are told! What are you so afraid of?!

I'm not solitary though. I have you, and I have had conversations with other people of this place. [He wouldn't consider them friends or allies much, though he was gradually warming to the idea.] I shouldn't have to look if I don't want to have one.

[It wasn't often that they fought, but when they did, it was a magically aggressive show to put on. He snarled loudly, aware his brother wouldn't back down. No matter how much Maul could beat him, he stood his ground.]

Don't tell me how to run my life!

Oh yes, 'conversations.' What an improvement from simply brooding in the background. [Maul glares at him.] You don't know what you want and by the time you do it may be too late to find it. So I am stepping in!

[Yep, he was going to put his brother in the dirt as soon as he saw Savage.]

I seem to remember you preferred me brooding in the background. I am your muscle. [He snarled, bearing his teeth. His brother might not be wrong, but he wasn't going to admit him right now either.] How would you know what's too late?

[His hackles were still up, and the words struck him more than they should.]

I want my life to be different than Dathomir. [Where life was dictated by the orders of so many others.]

Neither of us are getting any younger. Better now than waiting later until you're old, grey, and have cracked horns.

[Some of the anger left Maul with those words. Savage really had everyone in his life telling him what to do ever since he was born. Was Maul being no different? He'd like to think so but....some of what Usagi had said before was being brought to the forefront of his mind.]

..........Do you truly think I just order you about with no thought for what you want?

[For a long time, he didn't mind being his brother's shadow. He had much to learn from Maul, and he didn't take that fact for granted. He loved his brother, but there were times that Maul's will trampled over others. He was still just as loyal, and he recognized his brother meant well.

And talking to his brother about what he actually wanted was generally difficult for him. He took his time formulating his reply at least.]

......I think you want the best for both of us, but you base what I want on what you have or want in your life. And you order me in line because it worked when we traveled together in the galaxy.

[Maul paused as well when Savage finally gave him an answer to the question. He looked down and paused until he finally figured out what he wanted to say. His voice was very quiet as he answered.]

If you would tell me what you want beyond always saying you want to help me achieve what I want, I might actually be able to help you achieve that. You don't always have to be in my shadow.

[Savage was not about to point out that his loyalty to Maul was absolute, and that he wasn't yet willing to strike out on his own. He also wasn't so certain that his brother would let him wander too far, since they had spent months together and developed a very strong bond before his death.

It was not lost on him that, while Maul might use him at a weapon when necessary, his elder brother was also very protective of him.]

Helping you is what I want, but this time... it feels entirely like me wanting it.

[The expression on Maul's face softened up and his eyes looked less hard as well. He'd been pushing pretty hard about this but he wasn't going to keep at it. He'd let Savage make his own decisions on this.]

If you truly want me to stop badgering you about this, I will.

[Since coming to Trench, he had been far more on his own by choice. He had less urge to jump into every network conversation to snarl for his brother's defense. He had began to take things on slowly of his own volition. His physical form was as stable as it had been under Mother Talzin's spell, but his mind felt more like how it had been before the spell.

He hadn't tried to put it to words yet, confused but also feeling a sense of relief as well.]

Tease me if you want, but don't... order me into relationships. I'm still getting used to having... choice. [Full choice, and if that came with vehement loyalty to his brother, that's the way it would be until he felt comfortable to move around beyond it.]

[Since Savage had asked him, Maul would stop pushing. His brother rarely asked him for anything and so Maul knew this was important to him. Of course, there was every possibility he was just embarrassed that Maul was teasing him about this, but if so it was still just an underlying concern. The main issue here was what Maul was doing.]

Alright. I won't push you any further. Just keep your mind open to the possibility, yes?

[He did sincerely want his brother to find happiness here. If he couldn't have that, than at least a satisfying sexual relationship would also be a good goal to have.]

[Others might not see it at he did, but Savage knew Maul meant well and was probably actually concerned that he would waste the second opportunity by following his older brother everywhere still. He didn't share that concern but understood it anyway.]

Of course, brother. You'll be the first I don't tell if anything happens.

[But at the same time, Maul would definitely be the first to find out. He just knew he'd receive some ribbing for it, as brothers should.]

[Maul just responded with an amused chuckle.]

Oh, I'll find out regardless. I have my ways.

[And then of course there would be much more teasing in store for Savage. It was the law of being an older brother: one was allowed to tease the younger one until they dug a hole into the earth and hopped into it to get away from them.]

We'll see about that.

[He had no doubt that if anything ever happened in his sex life that Maul would discover it. He just hoped any partner he obtained was tolerant of the invasion, and he hoped he wouldn't have to throw Maul off of a rooftop too often.]
