Hello.

My name is Naruhodo Ryunosuke. I'm still relatively new to this so please forgive me if I make any mistakes. I'm looking for someone who could teach me how to use a katana. I've been lucky enough that I have the weapon but I have no idea how to wield it properly. After recent events, I think it would best to learn how to use it.

Any assistance would be appreciated.

In that case, you should already have more than just a sword to defend yourself against danger here.

Unless your blood power just happens to be something that you can't use to get yourself out of a pinch at all? [ Maybe she should've asked him first if anyone has told him about blood powers at all.

Why do I get the feeling that's not what you mean?

[There's a pause between messages, lengthier than normal before he finally responds, perhaps a little frantically on his end.]

What do you mean "blood powers"?
I haven't felt any different since I've arrived.

[ Ange almost can't believe it. Why is she somehow always the one who has to deliver the unpleasant news to him? ]

Are you trying to tell me that absolutely no one has mentioned anything about that to you yet?

I know that blood is different here.
Does things to people that it wouldn't normally do.
I just wasn't certain how different it could be!
Are you really saying that the blood here gives people unnatural abilities?

Yes. It does. I'm not sure if I've met someone yet whose blood didn't give them special abilities.

[ Mostly since most people Ange knows don't have the one bloodtype that keeps people at a fairly regular power level.. ]

But they seem to vary from person to person, so sometimes even knowing your blood type doesn't help you find it out right away.

.. but it can't hurt, I guess. You could always prick yourself and see what comes out.

[ Perhaps a bit of a reckless suggestion, but really, what other option is there? Other than to wait until someone or something injures you sometime, but that's not exactly an ideal situation either. ]

How would I know what bloodtype I have if I did that?
My friend suggested much of the same thing, but I'm not sure how dangerous it could be.

[It's absolutely a reckless suggestion, but it may be the only way to figure it out before...well before something happens.]

I'm unfamiliar with the bloodtypes of Trench.

[ Ange, too, is trying to consider how dangerous it'd be.. although surely a tiny prick can't do that much. At worst it might activate some powers he wasn't aware of yet...

Rust-coloured? Huh. [ It's a little surprising. Ange does know people with a variety of different kinds of blood, but it's not as often that she sees this, she thinks.. She's even having a hard time thinking of anyone she actually knows to have this blood. ] I think that means you've got Warmblood.

Which might be a good thing for you, depending on how you look at it. It technically seems to be the most 'normal' kind you can have here.

My own blood glitters. My girlfriend's blood caused her to spontaneously combust every three hours or so during our first month here.

I'd say blood that's at least relatively reddish and isn't giving you odd powers would be considered 'normal' in comparison, right?

[ Unless blood is supposed to be a different colour where he comes from.. but Ryunosuke has seemed so weirdly normal so far that Ange can't imagine he comes from a world with bright blue blood or something like that. ]

Ah! So that's what you mean.
I guess you're right, though I'm afraid this might put me at a disadvantage.
I haven't felt "different" so to speak since I've arrived.
Apart from the squid thing.

It depends on what you see as a disadvantage.

Yes, it might mean that it'd be harder for you to fight threats here, since you don't have any special powers. But it's not like everyone's blood powers manifest as some sort of fighting ability either, so in that case you aren't lagging behind all that much.

And at least you didn't have to freak out at seeing your blood an extremely weird colour.

True enough, I suppose.
I'm mostly nervous about fighting.
I don't think I can run and hide forever when something comes up.

I can only imagine what that could have been like.
I mean I'm still surprised, but it is relatively normal comparatively.
What is your blood type, if you don't mind me asking?

Darkblood. Contrary to its name, it just glitters.

[ Then again, Ange so very much prefers saying the word 'darkblood' over 'glitterblood', thank you very much.. ]

I think mine just enhances my natural powers though, rather than giving me any new ones. It really seems to vary from person to person. I know people who already had powers, but instead got different ones after arriving here due to our weird blood. Others, like you, don't seem to receive any powers at all.

I wonder if there's any rhyme or reason to it.

There may not be any rhyme or reason to it. I would think that if there were someone would have figured out a pattern by now. Or at least I would hope so.
I haven't been here long enough to puzzle it out myself.
Are the different powers they received at least similar to ones they had back home or something entirely different?

That also seems to vary.

My own powers are related to the ones I already had, but my girlfriend has entirely different powers compared to what she had back in her world. So it's not just like we gain the type of blood that suits things or abilities that were already present inside of us from the start.

That's both fascinating and strange!
I wonder if there has been a poll of some sort of Sleeper's abilities and whether or not they relate to abilities they had at home.
Or if anyone has done much research into the different blood types that show any sort of correlation to ability versus blood type.
It would be interesting to see how it would all relate to the different blood types.
