[The video begins with Winter standing in front a fairly ordinary wall. Unlike most times she’s no longer wearing her Atlas uniform. Instead she’s adapted and now appears more like one of the native hunters of trench. She takes a moment to compose herself before speaking.]

It seems that many of us are starting to settle and adjust to this new place, but we all know that this peace and time of adjustment is only temporary. Before long there will be something that comes along and threatens it. The hunters of this world have already organized patrols, and have their own system of keeping threats at bay. But I believe that we all know that while they mean well, there are those that they can not expect due to our arrival.

I am Winter Schnee, I was a combat specialist for FEAR and in James Ironwood’s absence was responsible for running TRUST in Deerington. I also was a specialist in the Atlas military in a world called Remnant that quite a few of us are from. In that world there are creatures called Grim that Hunters and Huntresses protect humanity from, similar to what the hunters of this world do. I am not proposing the formation of another organization such as FEAR, especially not after the horrors that were revealed of its foundations. Rather I wish to gather a group of volunteers among those who are hunters, or who have combat experience, to come together to form special teams. These teams would respond to calls for help as a unit, fighting and supporting one another, and most importantly keeping one another in check. This would a response team specifically aimed as supporting other dreamers from any threat.

Secondly, I want to be able to offer combat lessons to any who wish to learn in a structured, secure, and safe environment. Because there will be times when we are not able to respond quickly enough, when you will need to be able to defend yourself long enough for help to arrive. Hopefully with adequate help we would be able to offer training in a variety of levels from basic combat to specialized weapon training for those that plan on becoming hunters or huntresses.

And finally, this group will serve to patrol ourselves. To mitigate and manage the threat that we pose to ourselves and to this world. The hunters talk about corruption, and I have seen what happens when too much power and responsibility lies in one place. I want to ensure that check and balance remains in place, so that we can fully support and protect all dreamers and natives of this world.

For now I just need to know those who are interested and their abilities. Once I have that I can start assigning teams, and patrol areas for rapid response.

There was something that Oscar brought up. It might be a good idea to get a census of who all is here, and thinking about supplies for the coming months.

They were these big ugly humanoid things that eat people. Really stupid and most of them are unable to really talk. But they're really tenacious, and with a specific weak spot that's hard to get to, let alone cut through.

Based on intelligence that I have gathered so far, it's best to operate in teams. That way all of us have to support. But it's also to ensure that none of those who are fighting become a part of the problem as well.

Do you currently have a weapon? And what weapons are you familiar with?

No, dude, I get it, trust me. Teamwork makes the dream work or whatever.
I've got a katana that I'm pretty damn good with.
Most of what I do is one-handed swords.
Could probably learn how to use a gun if I needed to. I pick things up fast.

You said 'dreamers and natives.' Since I'm not a native, I'm guessing I'm a dreamer?

Could you elaborate on what that means?

[This wasn't a face that she recognized from Deerington, but judging from his questions he was someone new. Then that meant that there were even more people being pulled here besides those that chose to stay. Winter nods before starting.]

That is correct. It's what we call those who were not born in this world.

While it may not apply anymore, those who were brought to this world from our own were referred to as Dreamers previously. That was because we were pulled into the nightmare of a child, one who had created her own world in an attempt to protect herself.

That nightmare fell apart though, and while many of the dreamers returned to their homes, there are those of us who have chosen to remain and do what we can here.

I must ask, though... is such a group necessary in Trench? Unlike Deerington, we are few among many. Trenchian cohesion might be better served if we were to cooperate with all who live here, rather than create our own little task force.

That is to say, integrate ourselves into existing structures.

It makes it easy for non-military individuals to remember. In addition it can save time when relaying critical information.

I agree that we do need to work alongside them, and have joined the hunters of Trench. This is not so much a separate entity so much as a group within the hunters to create a check and balance among ourselves. A combination of internal review and swift response specialists that might be a bit more familiar with the challenges that face sleepers.

If these measures prove to me unnecessary then I will disband the group.

Are there specific challenges facing Sleepers they are not equipped to handle? I was under the assumption they were used to our presence and whatever peculiarities we have in regards to our blood. ...Moreso than we are, even.

I voice this solely because I feel it would behoove us to stand together with the general populace as much as possible. If this is to be our true home, I would not see us be divided or viewed with suspicion. Already, somebody has voiced the idea of governance for the Sleepers, which would surely only draw ire.

It's more proactive a move than he had expected from her, and an excellent opportunity to take up the mantle but throw off the old associations. She is the one he'd want at the head of this. ]

[She knew well that she had to act quickly. Otherwise the General would likely try to rebuild his own ranks and influence. And when Vira-Lorr had declined to take lead as she had with FEAR, Winter new she had to step forward.]

I made a promise, that I would use the gift that I was given to protect as many people as I can. After Atlas, I won't wait until it's too late to act again, so starting now when we have the chance seemed like the best option.

I would appreciate any advice that you have though. Or any insights into what I should expect.

[She had so many questions about just what being the Winter Maiden meant. About Penny and the moments they had when the powers were passed, everything.]

I understand the reservation that many have. James Ironwood used to be an excellent commander and leader, but he allowed fear and anger to change him and to drive his actions. He overextended himself and tried to reach further than he should have forcing people to choose between following orders or doing what was right. He lost sight of what we were fighting for.

I have experience, and have lead a special operative team in similar environments against similar enemies. We need organization and structure to maximize the good that we can do. But at the same time I do not want to set up a system without checks and balances. I have no desire to command with absolute authority, that is why this group is voluntary and will consist of several leaders not just myself.

If I can't prove capable for the task, my expectation is that someone else will step forward who is.
