What's up.
Are we doing introductions now? I guess we're doing introductions.
Name's Anna. Professional city defender and mostly robot girl.
Coming here from a place called Recolle that I'm pretty sure no one here knows about, which is cool.
Never been much for stuff like this, so, like, I don't know.
Anyone needs a katana at their side, look me up. I'm pretty damn good at it.
I might not know what's going on here, but far as I'm concerned, this is where I live now and it makes sense for everyone if I actually try to keep it safe.
And since I'm in full spaghetti at the wall mode right now, lemme just throw out some words, see if it triggers anything for any of you guys.
Zee Carlisle. Clarence Vanderweele. Layers of reality. Retrospec.
The Geteilts.
Nothing?
Yeah, didn't think so.
Anyway, yeah, flag me down if you see me on the streets and need some protection or whatever. I'm five ten and I only have one eye. I'm hard to miss.

And yeah, I figure everything is too new for us to have anything going wrong yet.
What with the skeleton shitpost kicking the network off, like, three days ago.
If this place is anything like Recolle, I'm gonna keep an eye out for new weird shit happening every month. Same bat time, different bat channel.
Should be any day now.

Forgive me, but you mention monthly occurrences and that does pique my interest. Was this Recolle a place where people appeared from other worlds, forced to deal with monthly dilemmas of some sort? Because you are definitely not the first I've encountered who saw one before arriving here.

We got a special app installed on our phone that meant we'd been awoken to the greater world.
It was all Recolle citizens, and if you moved too far away from the city then you'd lose all your memories of it. And everything that made you who you were.
Which is a little stipulation that I might have forgotten about until right now, which is cool.

And yet, there's a similarity. Troubles of some sort or another will probably come on the lunar cycle. We haven't yet pinned down if there's some sort of greater enemy. It's all rather fresh and we're just trying to survive. But sometime this month? Something will happen.
It always does.
no subject
I mean, like, that's what months are, but people seem real pumped about the moon around here.
Well, as long as it's not worse than the total collapse of reality, I think I've got it handled.
no subject
Hopefully we can avoid a repeat.
no subject
I bet I could do it again if I had to.
Couldn't be that hard, especially with someone named The Reckoning backing me up.
Or whatever they're supposed to be able to do for us.

[Unfortunately, years of experience had bred paranoia in this one.]
They are not remotely mortal in how they view things. Beings of incredible power, their attitudes are singular, unique and as of yet? Somewhat unpredictable. Their powers created the living nightmare when the child of one and a human was not trained in how to fully control her power and those around her reacted foolishly towards her. It ended tragically.
I believe that, if you can decipher one's nature, you can probably trust it to be true to that nature in the kind of absolute way that a creature who thinks of itself more as a concept than a person might be trusted. The Reckoning, for example, I know only a very small about, but they seem straightforward enough.
You could trust them to destroy someone they felt had earned divine judgment. Without hesitation. You could not, however, trust what they considered meriting judgment, or for them to hold back or show any mercy. A double-edged sword, if you are not careful. How involved they are for now? We don't know.
Watch yourself around the Moss King, though. Tricky one, that.

Usually it's just one of them hiding in the shadows trying to make everything work the way he wants it to.
Well, whatever, they're just gods.
Not much different from the normal everyday mysterious forces keeping the whole weird establishment running from behind the scenes.
Never put much faith in them in the first place.
no subject
I need to look into a few of them. I suspect I met one or two besides the Moss King before I woke up. They were trapped in there with us, after all. Just much more quiet back then. Julia was by far the strongest of their kind and her will was difficult to oppose.

We find out any more information about these guys, it'd probably be a good idea to write it all down somewhere and make sure everyone can access it.
Keeping the masses informed has always been the best way to make sure we don't get fucked up by eldritch beings.
That's what Karl Marx was talking about.
no subject
I actually haven't read him, but are you sure he was talking about eldritch monsters?

"A spectre is haunting Europe. The spectre of Yog-Sothoth."
"Oh shit, dude. It's Yog-Sothoth."
"What are we going to do."
no subject
But either way, a healthy sense of humor can work wonders here.
no subject
Honestly it's a shock how accurate he got it.
More of a poet and a prophet than a philosopher.
Wait, no, that was Bob Marley.
Oh, right, I'm typing all this bullshit AT someone. My bad.
no subject
That reminds me. I need to look up Doorway at some point.
no subject
Is it still lore if they're real? Or is that just, like, their backstories.
Maybe I'll go bug some people about their myth-history too.
no subject
Actually, if you want to see some of the history of the nightmare, I have a means. I carried some pieces of the dream over. Fair warning, though, the images were disturbing and they only say so much.
no subject
If the dream, or nightmare or whatever, collapsed around everyone and the baby is different now, no telling how much the old information still matters.
No way of knowing either way, I guess.
no subject
Our needs are a touch more pressing than history however, I think.
no subject
I guess learning from history matters, sure, fine.
I've got a steel stomach. Let me know what you've got.
no subject
Hmmm. So, if you want food, I've apparently got a lovely batch of mushrooms ready for sautee, but if you want food for the mind, what I currently have are a set of devices with memories storied inside of them. Probably the most valuable may be information about Mother Superior. I believe she may be around here somewhere, and it's wise to be wary of that one, whatever she's calling herself these days.
no subject
Mother Superior, huh? Glad to know these Pthumerians are as humble as they are effable.
You got some cliff notes on how Mommy Dearest used to operate?
I assume it was a lot of blood and malice. That seems like it fits a name like that.

She snapped and, seeking a target for her rage, blamed those that the child's nightmares had trapped in the dream. She tried to teach us twisted moral lessons at the hands of monsters meant to represent what she saw as our moral weaknesses. She sought to destroy us, to get to what was left of her daughter and 'end it,' not realizing that she'd already killed her years ago.
She was an insane, rabid beast who helped create the madness of the world, and died at the hands of her daughter, only to be reborn again in penance. I'm not sure where she is in this world, not yet anyway, but she's doubtless here.
Be careful. A great deal of rage bubbles beneath that woman's surface.
no subject
Guess I can see how that kind of thing can break a person, but it doesn't excuse, you know.
Everything else.
Didn't know her, and I don't get involved in family problems anymore, but I don't know if she deserves whatever penance she's getting here.
Sounds like it would be way easier for everyone else if she'd just died.
But since when is the universe set on making stuff easy for us?
