video UN: vault thief
[opening up, amara is beaming at the camera. she's clearly in an alleyway of the willful machine, if the light and bustle a little ways off from her is any indication. she has a huge bag of popcorn in one hand, the other holding the omni-- her signature tattoos glow across her arms and neck, though right now they're a bright orange instead of the usual blue.]
Yoooo! This market has orange popcorn! You have no idea how long it's been since I've had some! [a truly unfortunate and very strange looking dog briefly pops into frame as it makes a lunge for the popcorn with a long, prehensile tongue. amara doesn't seem too bothered by it, responding by lifting the bag up and chiding it;] Not for you, Skag. This is people food.
[moving on...]
I'm Amara! I am known as the Tiger of Partali, the wisest cowboy to ever walk the land and possible brain surgeon! That last one involves a lot more metaphysical punching than you would expect. Anyway! That giant snake is an equally giant pain in the ass, so I'm gonna tear its head off and give it to the Hunters in lieu of a resumé. Anyone down to join? It'll be a fun evening out!

[even if this is technically true, it sure doesn't mean he's gonna get anything useful out of it]
We can also destroy a bunch of stuff to see if it'll work!
no subject
[she seems to understand that, though if she was being serious she would think there is a lot that's vital. broad strokes, y'know?]
Now you're talking words I like to hear.
no subject
[He actually does like a lot of it; he even did back in the day. Not like demons are making a ton of quality entertainment, you know?]
Yeah! We'll get magic metal from an asteroid or something! Not that that would...work, but you get it. [Some wild bullshit like in a movie!]
no subject
[humanity's shitposting in the 50th century? it's certainly something.]
Wait... can't you just make fireproof metal?
no subject
[oh my GOD]
no subject
Wait, are you God?
[she might've dropped a few pages behind him, there.]

[He means it - he figures there's just as good a chance of him going megalomaniacal as anything else around here. Even at his worst and most condescending, he'd never gone god mode.]
Well, sure - worth a shot. Let's do this! [He claps his hands and rubs them together. Without a specific image to hold in his mind, he's really just winging it. But that's how his powers work back home; he's actually more used to that.
He snaps his fingers and produces a chunk of material in his other hand.]
...not too sure what this is. Concrete?
[It's a refractory ceramic I just researched this]

[the unspoken thing here being, of course, that she trusts he'll do the same for her if he needs to.]
Oh?
[she leans forward, squinting.]
Try to crush it. It looks like a start.
no subject
Ah. [...] Well, I was really trying for...
[He ignites the hand and opens it again. The remnants still in his palm don't seem to be melting or burning, at least?]
...that...alright, so it's a start.
no subject
[she tilts her head, squinting a little to avoid hurting her eyes on the bright... brightness of the fire.]
Brilliant. What did you think of to make that?
no subject
[Straightforward! He smiles at her a little at the compliment to his fire - that's nice, it's something sort of elemental to him.]
I've been getting used to using it a little more lately. People just think I've got elemental magic. [Which like. Maybe he does a little? Only for fire though, and really only for his own - he can't really shoot it at things like a Coldblood, it's very much attached.] Helps in a fight.
[He reins it in again for now, though, and touches the remnants with his other hand. They aren't really charred. Probably pretty hot, but Michael never registers stuff like that.]
no subject
Very impressed you couldn't crush it. I guess Michael could make a boulder he couldn't lift. That's answer enough for me. Philosophy is for nerds-- get some super-powered friends!
[her eyes flick back up to him, widening in interest.]
You've been in fights?
no subject
Mostly with monsters. I've - there's been a few - it wasn't really a fight.
[Mostly just attacking people at random in the streets. It had never been a fair fight. One of them was like ten or something.]
no subject
[amara doesn't necessarily believe he needs protecting, but she'd happily do the stuff that makes michael feel terrible about himself.]
no subject
[Michael can protect himself just fine. It's just that being violent makes him feel...bad about himself. Bad about how easy it still is, really. He'll feel worse if someone else gets hurt on his behalf, though.]
no subject
no subject
[But alright, he gets it.]
That's nice, though. I appreciate it, I really do.
no subject
You do much for me. I am happy to repay it.

[Though of course, neither of them were terribly inclined to take Amara's room either. It'd been sort of a general, unspoken understanding.]
