[ There has been a great deal of things that Sasuke has learned about in the few weeks he's been here just from talking to new people. All of them have been extremely confusing concepts, like therapy and the idea that people take care of children when they don't have anyone else to take care of them.

Some of these conversations where he's learned things have ended in more questions than answers. He could ask for more clarification from the few he's already made contact with, but the more possible answers he can get, the better. He thinks.

He hopes.

This could be a mistake. ]

How would you suggest someone improve their communication skills?

If your go to response is "talk to people", spare me. I'm only interested in more thorough answers.

[ He's really got to get a flat surface to put his device on with how many people here like video. He's at least getting better at how far he needs to hold it away from himself for people to actually see his face.

Which right now is the slightest shade of pink. If you squint. This is the first time he's had to answer that question with someone actually seeing him. ]

Well, what have people told you so far, Sasuke-san?

To be more specific when I answer questions rather than just saying yes or no, to be willing to share vulnerable information, to not be afraid to mess up and to apologize if I make a big mistake, and to not be too hard on myself for making those mistakes. Listen to what the other person has to say without just waiting for your turn to speak, don't just gather information like it's a mission and actually show genuine interest. You have to show you care in order for people to want to get to know you.

It was suggested I practice in a mirror, watch others converse with their friends, and...

[ He huffs, looking away, because he still thinks this last suggestion sucks. ]

Get drunk.

That all sounds like absolutely great advice... er... except maybe the drunk one, but I mean, I know for some people it helps.

But ya know, I know we're not close, but if you want, you're welcome to practice with me? I don't mind! I've got lots of friends who are the quiet types. [Because she's pretty much the dictionary definition of the extrovert who goes "this introvert is my friend now."]

I get told all the time I talk too much so I guess I'm pretty good at that too.

I've no intention of touching any alcohol. I don't think it would help make me an easier person to talk to.

[ But none of this surprises him in the slightest. Of course she has lots of friends and of course she'd be willing to practice with him. This is... exactly the type of person he would expect her to be after her willingness to drag a complete stranger into a party. ]

Mm. Partners to practice with would be good. I don't know many people here.

Well! Then I am happy to volunteer as your partner! It's always easier to start on familiar ground, so what's something that interests you, Sasuke-san? What do you enjoy doing?

I... don't know... I haven't let myself enjoy anything in a long time.

Well, no time like the present, yeah? May as well take this time here to find out what that actually is. Couldn't hurt, right?

What do you like to do?

Well! My absolute favorite things to do are sleeping and eating! But I also love shopping, playing video games, reading manga, going to the beach, dancing, meeting new people, having, like, a spa day, making stuff with clay or flowers, and all sorts of things really! And I especially love doing all that with friends!

I've been exploring all sorts of new restaurants and stores since getting here!

You'd get along with a lot of the people I know back home with those interests.

It's been a while since I've been to a restaurant. I remember enjoying those.

Would you like to go to one with me? What's a food you like? Are you vegetarian? Meat only? I know plenty of options!

Ah— [ It's his kneejerk reaction to say no, but he stops himself. This is a good opportunity for him to practice all the things he's being taught here, right? ]

Okay.

I like onigiri and tomatoes. Salads. I'll eat anything mostly, but I don't like sweets.

Great! And, lucky for you, I like to eat everything except carrots. [She can handle not eating sweets.]

I don't know any place that sells onigiri, but I can ask my friend Makoto-chan to make some for you, if you really get to missing them.

And salads are easy! Why don't we meet at Cellar Door's lamp and go to this cafe near Earworm. They're open 24/7 but the food is incredible. They sell pancakes all day too.

[ Carrots? There's a pause because maybe it could just be a flavor thing, but there's also this really obvious possibility. ] Teased?

[ He should probably say she doesn't have to answer that. It's probably not important right now.

So he finally nods. ]

Okay. That sounds... nice.

[She clicks her tongue and points a finger at him. Got it in one.] Endlessly.

[She smiles.]

[ He opens his mouth to say he's free right now, but then he remembers Sakura's request. If you're going somewhere, just let me know, so I don't think you've disappeared. ]

I'll be free in an hour or so.
