[ There has been a great deal of things that Sasuke has learned about in the few weeks he's been here just from talking to new people. All of them have been extremely confusing concepts, like therapy and the idea that people take care of children when they don't have anyone else to take care of them.

Some of these conversations where he's learned things have ended in more questions than answers. He could ask for more clarification from the few he's already made contact with, but the more possible answers he can get, the better. He thinks.

How would you suggest someone improve their communication skills?

If your go to response is "talk to people", spare me. I'm only interested in more thorough answers.

[Some of this is helpful, others less so.]

The battle thing does make sense. You can't let others set the pace or you'll never win. If we can figure out some hard hitting questions it'll cover the first suggestion too.

Practising in front of a mirror does sound stupid. If you can't get better at fighting just practising your stances then you can't get better talking to a mirror. They're probably trying to trick you.

And the last two points sound overrated.

Dirk hasn't seemed like the type who would try to trick me into anything. He's been extremely helpful so far. I imagine it's supposed to work similarly to warming up on your own before training with another. I just

don't want to do it.

You don't believe sharing deeper information about yourself can strengthen bonds?

Maybe he was trying to be helpful, but if you don't want to do it than it's not going to help. Forcing yourself won't do anything if you don't try properly.

It just makes me tired and I don't feel any better and they weren't any happier after.

... That makes sense. I'll see if he has any other advice to offer in its place.

That's been my experience as well. People seem fairly insistent on it, so I thought I was just doing it wrong.

I think what they don't get is that words aren't the only way to communicate. Sometimes an action is all that's needed.

Actions mean more, I'd think. But they seem to get brushed aside more easily.

Words can get misinterpreted too.

People are just hard.

I think that's one of the most honest statements anyone has shared with me yet on this thing.
