I hardly think I have the looks for it.

You’re not kidding about that, at least. I’m going to go through the small handful of film rolls I washed up with in almost no time, at this rate.

[jedies]

Film?

[ he cocks his head. ]

What kind of film?

[expertonshutters]

Oh. For my camera. One second-

[Hayato has questioned interrogated plenty of people around town to figure everyone’s timelines and worlds could vary vastly, so he’s not too put off by having to explain something like this, in case that’s whats happening here.]

[the feed dips a little as he sets it down on what looks like a table, and Hayato reaches for a small bag with a strap. He pulls out his camera and sets it on the table, and then places a roll of film next to it.]

I’m a freelance photographer by trade!

[ ah. interesting. he hasn't seen technology this primitive in a while. ]

That's impressive. We usually have holographic cameras to take images.

[expertonshutters]

[An eyebrow goes up at that. Holographic images isn’t something he’s unfamiliar with, it’s just usually technology he sees used by …well. The Bad Guys back home.]

That sounds pretty advanced! Does that mean your photos move about on their own?

[jedies]

Sometimes. Mostly they remained three-dimensional.

But I imagine the ones you have would look much nicer.

[expertonshutters]

I can see the appeal of something like that.

[something hyper realistic, an image frozen in time.]

But I can definitely say there is an art in composition alone, that makes something as simple as a two-dimensional image capable of coming to life.

It’s awkward to try and toot my own horn without anything to show for it, so if I get my portfolio built back up, I’ll show it to you sometime.

I would love to see it sometime.

Do you only work with models?

[expertonshutters]

Not at all! My specialty may be in people, but most of my work makes me more of a journalist. I take pictures of the moment, be that capturing the truth of tragedy, or the hope of human triumph.

[Honestly, teasing aside, he rarely does model work. It’s usually to cut a paycheck if he’s between work.]

[jedies]

Those are quite lofty topics.

[ tragedy or hope? it almost makes it sounds like there's no inbetween. ]

[expertonshutters]

That’s the nature of the world I come from. I would love nothing more than to spend my days taking photos of people smiling, but my talents currently are best put to use as a war photographer, among other things.

[Among other things include: being a cybernetic superhero currently locked in a bloody war with a god trying to rip his way out of an inter dimensional prison so he can raze the entirety of earth. You know. Normal stuff.]

When I rebuild my portfolio here, I hope it’ll be much less exciting than my last body of work.

[ dryly. ]

Oh, I don't know. I think this place may surprise you.

Though the lack of war is refreshing.

[expertonshutters]

Oi, you should let me hold onto my baseless optimism for at least a little while!

[He’s very clearly teasing with that. He knows. He got a pretty good idea of what this place was like on his first day.]

It is something to be glad for, lack of war, even if there’s still plenty around this place to cause trouble.

I'm certainly thankful for it.
