W h o o s a h]
It's complicated, but we've met before. I knew your brother and Castiel, too. I'm a friend.
Stay put and I'll come get you?
no subject
You knew--wait, what? What do you mean?
[ if his idiot brother is here he's getting a punch to the head :| ]
no subject
Stay put? I'll be on an ATV
no subject
...Okay.
[ If the guy knows Cas in some capacity then...maybe Dean can trust him. He'll find out shortly, he guesses. In the meantime he figets with his flower, sitting on the boardwalk, cold and by himself. ]
no subject
He shows up exactly how he says he will, killing the engine as close to the boardwalk as he can get it, approaching cautiously with the blanket in hand.]
Dean. Catch.
no subject
[ thank you, raleigh, for putting that argument on hold for a moment and coming to collect this pathetic piece of winchester -- who will catch the blanket before it unfolds mid air, shivering as he wraps it around himself. He's got the robe on they give other people, but he's so damn chilled he can't get warm. ]
Thanks, uh -- what's your name? Becket?
no subject
Your place isn't that far from mine. This'll make more sense once you see it.
[Man... this stings. He and Dean were finally friends after so much and now it's just.. what. Gone? Wiped? Again? Fuck.]
no subject
God what the fuck. ]
My...place? [ God he is so damn confused, man. But Raleigh doesn't seem to be a dickhead or a monster or a demon so he's gonna have to just..trust him. He guesses. ]
no subject
That's right.
You've been here before. You were just here, actually.. I saw you yesterday. But sometimes... I dunno. Sometimes people get pulled back out to sea and they forget everything. Fresh wipe.
I know it's hard to understand. And you don't know me.. and it's hard to trust a damn thing anyone says.. but it's the truth.
There's salt and silver at your cabin. You can test me all you want.
no subject
...Yesterday? Seriously?
no subject
This is so painful. Why is it so painful?
This family.. they're so close. He has this awful feeling they'll get to the cabin and Cas and Sam won't be there.
Maybe that's a blessing?
But Dean and Castiel were so... happy. His heart aches for you, Dean Winchester.]
Yeah. We're kinda neighbors. C'mon, I'll show you.
[Slowly, he'll coax Dean to the ATV and take him through Trench, a whirlwind of gothic victoriana. They'll pass right through and head out to the farthest reaches, well past the city's limits and into heavily fortified farmland.
Then, as they crest the rise, a cabin comes into view. It's nice, this cabin. Raleigh has admired it several times for it's rustic charm. Hedged in Rosemary with a lantern at the gate, the house is waiting for her family to come home.
Baby is parked out back next to Sam's ugly yellow Lincoln, but there's no smoke from the chimney and the curtains are tightly closed.
Mercifully, the back door is unlocked.
Raleigh cuts the engine next to the impala and gives a small gesture to the house.]
Welcome home, man.
no subject
[ Mystified enough to be coaxed onto the back of an ATV with a stranger, he clutches at his blanket and the grab bar both for dear life as they make their way across the city (it's a lot bigger than he thought), to the country, to a...beautiful, dreamy little cabin.
It looks empty, the curtains shut. It's everything Dean could have ever dreamed, and there's something in him that aches for it while also telling him this can't possibly be his, how could it be, after everything he's done?
He hesitates, sliding off the ATV a little hesitantly, standing there and flicking looks between the impala and the house, uncertain. It has a sense of being his but also entirely unfamiliar, too. Like he, specifically, doesn't belong here.
It makes his chest hurt, something prick at the back of his eyes that he doesn't understand. ]
This is mine?
no subject
[Raleigh isn't sure what to do with himself, standing slightly awkward as they look at the house.]
There's um. Wards up all over to keep the monsters out.. and there are monsters.. and that lantern by the fence is a teleporter. Like.. Star Trek? It'll take you to any other lantern in the city. It's weird at first but it saves you a ton of time getting into town.
..I can. Show you around the place?
[The house, if it's empty but also town. He doesn't want to step on Dean's toes and put his back up.]
no subject
His hands slip into his pockets and he squints up at it, something weird and thick in his throat. ]
Yeah. That -- would be good. This feels kinda weird, you know? I don't really know what to think about it.
[ He's really grateful Raleigh's here, even if he doesn't recognize him. How would he have found this otherwise? It's so damn far out here - which makes sense, it's where he would've chosen on his own - that it would've taken him ages.
And it's a beautiful house, something wholly his but there's a distinct feeling of not belonging at all. ]
no subject
[He nods for Dean to follow and leads him in, knocking before trying the door. It is open and the house is dark. He can't say he's surprised but it's no less disheartening.]
Castiel, Sam? Charlie??
[Nothing. A sigh. He flips on the lights and heads to the kitchen where he knows Dean keeps the stash of good shit, navigating comfortably like he's done this many times before and coming back with a bottle of something amber and two short glasses.
No one answers his call except Zepp, who appears from nowhere and bounces towards Raleigh and then to Dean once they see there is no Spaghetti to play with.]
You're gonna want this. We've got a lot to cover.
no subject
...You've been in here a lot, huh.
[ Dean moves to pull a chair out from the kitchen table, but then there's a critter scrambling through the house and Dean's first reaction is to shriek, then grab a broom and try to shove it out the door. ]
Friggin' rodents--
no subject
[Raleigh straight throws himself between Dean and the fox, arms out wide. If it means he takes a broom to the face so be it.]
STOP-- Dean this is Zepp, she's your omen. She's yours, man!
no subject
She's a what?
[ Zepp is so fucking offended, poofing out of existence only to reappear on the kitchen table, chittering angrily. You dipshit human. ]
