Hey, all - I see there's some new faces. I'm Shiro, longtime resident here.
[He's seated on a sofa - well, seated is probably the wrong word. He's propped up by a lot of soft things, thanks to being a Warmblood this month.]
If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer - usually I'm on the Waker team, but ah, didn't get a chance this time around.
[Because of feeling like speaking, like moving, is too much effort.]
Anyway, I had a question. I'm pretty good in a fight, usually prefer hand-to-hand. [He is. Hilarious.] Weapons are a little more rusty, and this thing...
[He turns the omni to face a sword propped against the couch.] ... showed up at our house yesterday. And I could use a few pointers in swinging it.

And they just turned up? No note, or anything?
no subject
[ Not that a sword needs a manual, per se. But then again, any ordinary die wouldn't need a manual either.
But without a note, Ange is immediately way more suspicious of this stuff. ]
I heard from Luna that she also got a sword earlier last month, but I asked around and no one I know got a pair of dice today.
no subject
[All the more reason to be suspect of it. Of all these gifts. Varian fell into a magical hole for a while with his, after all.]
[So who knows what a sword and some dice are going to do.]
Someone else mentioned Luna. Do you know if she's used the sword yet?
I haven't heard anything about dice either, until now.
no subject
I don't know. [ It's not like Ange has been around Luna during a fight last month, after all. ] She did say that she's not used to using swords, so she was looking for someone to teach her as well.
[ Another weird parallel. Why are all these swords being given out to people who don't even know how to use them? ]
So it might be possible that she used it while training. It could be worth asking her if she noticed anything in particular about it. [ You know - before Shiro starts swinging it all over the place as well. You never know. ]
no subject
[Oh the other hand, if his husband knows how to use a sword, then they need to have a talk.]
You get any weird vibes from the dice?
no subject
Ange isn't so sure whether she trusts anything in this place to not have those. ]
As for the dice.. yeah, I'm definitely getting weird vibes. But that has nothing to do with these specific dice. [ Ange moves them - and her hand - out of view, putting them down on a nearby table. ] The weird vibe has more to do with these things just turning up unannounced like this. I can't trust it.
no subject
[Even if she is a Deerington Veteran like the rest of them. He hasn't been as able to keep up with the new faces here.]
[Or some of the old ones.]
Yeah, I get that. More reason to try and research them before we do anything with them. I know... Varian got some compass a while back. It made a bunker appear underground. Or in a pocket dimension, according to him.
Maybe it's like that.
no subject
Yeah, I.. think I remember that too. [ She remembers it being mentioned, at least. ] It did sound purely beneficial, but I'm still not sure if I'd just assume the same about these things. I mean..
[ Her voice momentarily trails off before she continues. ]
A lot could go wrong with a sword. [ A lot. ]
no subject
[Whether or not it was actually dangerous, or if that was just. Varian being Varian remains to be seen.]
But, no, you're right. A sword has a lot more disaster potential than a compass. [A pause - ] So do dice.
no subject
[ That dice have just as much danger potential as a sword - or anything close to it.
But that's under normal circumstances. Ange is pretty sure just about anything could end up awful in this place. ]
I'm not sure I can even guess at what these might do when you just start carelessly rolling them all over the place. Maybe they summon demons. [ Which, honestly, would be a very mild effect in Ange's opinion, thanks. Hence why she can say it so casually. ]
no subject
[He caught that tone, and actually sounds a little amused at the idea.]
I wish there were a way to test them, with some kind of safety measure. We had antidotes and moon essence back in Deerington. But here...?
no subject
And on the last thing he says too, honestly. Under different circumstances Ange might have been reckless enough to just test it, but at this point.. ]
Yeah. I'm not pointlessly going to risk my life. [ Not when she knows that it'd worry the people close to her. That's what would bother her the most. ] Which might turn out to sound really dumb later if it turns out these don't do all that much, but I sure don't trust them, given the nature of this place. I'm not ruling out a possibility of instant death if you roll the wrong thing.
[ And even then - what would protect against weird mystery dice? It's practically impossible to tell. ]
no subject
Or put them away somewhere they won't be found again.
[Which sounds... extreme, when he thinks about it. Like they're dealing with toxic waste. Or a cursed object.]
[But in this case, these dice may very well be cursed.]
no subject
[ So maybe not never found again, but.. at least not found again for a little while? At least until she's sure of what they do, or until she gets desperate enough to stop caring about the consequences of their usage. ]
Because I don't trust Ruby to mistake them in an impulsive mood for regular dice and accidentally kill herself trying to play a board game. [ Got to make sure not just anyone can grab them. ]
no subject
[He grimaces. A lot.]
I swear, sometimes I forget she's... like that. Glad she's got you to keep her balanced.
private;
That's her charm.
[ She's definitely smiling. Like a lovestruck idiot - or, well, in Ange's own kind of muted way, but still. ]
Don't you think so too?
private;
[It really is great, seeing people come together like this. Even here.]
I don't know if I'm one to talk about charming impulsiveness. I'm usually the one who's in that boat.
private;
[ At least being sappy around Shiro doesn't feel so bad - just because of the way he reacts. It makes the tsundere in Ange a little less likely to come out.
Hence why she can instead just answer like this, still with that smile on her face, rather than getting all flustered. ]
private;
I never thought I'd hear you say that.
But - yeah. You probably should.
private;
[ ...
What's the word even for 'someone who openly jokes and talks about their feelings and love stuff'? How do you even describe that?? Someone help this poor socially awkward girl. ]
.. relaxed! [ Nailed it. Obviously. An amazing job. ]
private;
I usually go with 'sappy', if that helps.
private;
[ There we go. Now that's the good old Ange, freaking out like a cat that's just been told that it's time to take a bath.
At least it's clearly just her being flustered, rather than angry. ]
private;
Okay okay. How about... romantic?
Does that work.
private;
[ Ange sighs.
It's the kind of sigh that makes it sound like her very soul is leaving her body along with the sigh. ]
I guess I'll have to live with that. [ It'd be pretty crappy if she couldn't at least call her relationship with Ruby romantic, after all.. ]
As long as you don't call me or anything about me and Ruby romantic in front of other people. I won't survive that.
private;
[Said with an amused little note in his voice.]
When have I tried to purposefully embarrass you?
[Other people, sure. Like his teammates. Or the kids they've picked up. But that's different. He knows that's okay. Ange's not comfortable with it, so ... it won't happen.]
