[A young boy appears on the screen! He's sitting on... maybe the roof of a house? You can see the tops of buildings in Gaze behind him. But that's not important. What's important is what he has to say-]
How do you throw a great human birthday party? Not just the stuff with cake, gifts and people, I'm already know about all of that basic stuff. The extra things that make it a really good party. The kind that creates important memories that you can look back on and feel those pleasant feelings again.
[For some reason, this matters, apparently.]
Anyway, the first of the month was Paul's birthday. [No need to elaborate on that one. If you know, you know.] So we're going to do something next month, on the first, instead. It's a surprise, so don't tell him. You know he'd say something like "that's not necessary, it's just my birthday and it will interrupt me sitting in the dark and contemplating my terrible purpose so I'm busy and also no one can use the shower for the next hour".
So it's up to me and the rest of you to make it a good one that he likes. If you're Paul's friend or lived at the beach camp, gimme ideas and then show up and bring a gift. He needs something to strain rice with so he stops using his hands.
((ooc; a log for the party will go upnext week(ish) this weekend! If you have CR with Paul you are invited, no reply necessary.))

[being a deep sleeper can be a good thing?]
The first thing is, well. Probably best saved for when one turns eighteen. Or if they need a Night Walker's help. But, tequila's a liquor, a fairly strong one. But if he's not used to drinking, probably start him off with a rum and cola, that's a lot more user-friendly.
[and she smiles] It's not that kind of shot. It's taking a drink of alcohol in a hurry out of a little-bitty glass. Honestly, I have no idea why people call it a shot, but the term's lasted for centuries and doesn't seem to be going anywhere.

[Oh.]
Oh, sex. That's not much use here. So we have the do the second best thing. I want the tequila. I need the best of the best for this party.

[it's on the tip of her tongue to ask why in the Mistress' name sex wasn't of much use, sex was absolutely useful! the Mistress was a fertility Goddess for Her sake. but she chooses to hold that thought for another time]
All right. I'll bring the best tequila I can find. And limes, too, you need limes and salt, too. It's first you lick the salt, then you take the drink, then you drink the juice out of a lime section.

[Which is what he's trying to fix. So. Writing this down! Limes, salt, licking, lime drinking. What a curious process.]
Sounds like a ritual. I know humans like those. So Paul probably would too. So I need a lot of it.

[she got to be an expert at it in the other world, she'll gladly demonstrate for others]
I've been saving up on trade goods, so I should be able to get plenty. A barrel would probably be asking too much, but I'm sure I can find a good supply somewhere, maybe when the foreign boats come in?

[Wait. There's something... else. Oh!]
If you need money for things, you can ask Teacher for it. It's his house.

[she'd been willing to do it on her own dime, but okay!]
All right, works for me. It's awful to have a birthday away from home, especially that first birthday. It kind of hammers home the point that you're stuck in a particular place. I hope that your party helps him not be in his own head as much, even if it's just for one night.
