[the video opens on Rose looking rather vexed, holding the phial of Argonaut in her lap while Melody perches on her shoulder]
This may be an impossible question, what determines which day is a person's Blessed Day? I would very much like to know.
[and she tries to settle her expression so she looks more calm]
Also, I was hoping that someone more experienced could tutor me in the use of my Paleblood abilities. As many tutors I can get would be wonderful. The last thing I want to do is invade the privacy of someone's mind or dreams. And is it true that we can cause hallucinations? If so, that's something I absolutely want in control.
Thank you.
((OOC: it's the 110th anniversary of the Titanic hitting the iceberg! (though, it didn't fully sink until the 15th) So, CW in regards to Titanic related PTSD and survivor's guilt, though she's going to be cagey in how she approaches the subject.))

[he's gonna be making note of that to add to the endless list of potential things to look into. he also has very little idea what england is but he has a feeling it's not unlike piltover then. they did also enjoy their tea.] It is growing on me, I admit. The sheer variety helps- regardless, let me know when you are next free.

[she loved the little cottages in England, hated the huge, ostentatious mansions. those reminded her far too much of home] I'm usually free at any time. Since I chose to be a scholar, I make my own hours and can always go back later on.

oops sorry for the html fail there before dfgfd] Ah, one of the few perks of academia. I actually live in Gaze now myself, it's made the commute easier, so to speak.Perhaps this afternoon then? I'll send you the address of the place.
no subject
[no worries! if I had a dollar for every time I've html-failed, I'd have at least an extra hundred bucks!]Is your house nice? I had one for a little while, but it was void of green and growing things. My new cottage suits me far better. All right, I'll look forward to it!
no subject
dfg same. also did you want to action a little tea party or handwave they hung out and chatted about palebloods?] It is an underground bunker, so nice might not be the word most would use. I find it quite comfortable though. Having a roommate is a novel experience, and so far an enjoyable one.Have you met a man named Palamedes? He is said roommate who offered the space. He's the academic sort so I wouldn't be terribly surprised if you crossed paths before.
no subject
[no, we should be like. "free money!" even though no one pays out for DW html fails, weeps. and yes, please!] A bunker? Like out of science fiction? And I would love to have a roommate, my cottage is entirely too big for only me.I'm not sure if I have? Granted, I often fail to introduce myself properly while here. But where is the time for names when it's often matters of grave import which are being discussed?

the dream, i'd already have enough for retirement...] Yes, the kind built for protection, which given the state of things isn't a terrible idea I suppose. [and a nod, he feels that. the lab was not only not really a home but also very, very empty] You could put up an offer for a roommate, or maybe keep an eye on the newer arrivals? I'm sure many would appreciate a place to stay, even for a time.Hm, I'll introduce you one day, perhaps. I think he'd be curious about your investigations into the history of this place, he was something of a librarian in his world. [which is full of necromancy and that's still a bit wild to viktor.]
[regardless when he finishes up that he does send the address of a little spot, one hayato showed him. it's a cute tea shop, a decent selection, and though tea isn't really his thing he does have a sweet tooth so he's not going to say no to a place with decent baked goods.
he finds a corner table, props his crutch up and takes to scribbling in his notebook as he waits, waving off ordering just yet.]

[and I'd get as many tattoos as I possibly could!]No, it's really not. There are often reasons to need shelter. [and she considers] That's true, I could? I may wait to see who arrives next, but I'd imagine that a lovely little cottage with three full bedrooms would be nicer than a stingy flat.I'd appreciate that. I...where I'm from, I had a great many acquaintances, but almost no friends. Here, I'd rather the opposite. And any interest in my studies would be good. [necromancy would cause a great deal of confusion at first because the ministers preached that any form of magic was of the devil, but she's had proof enough to the contrary now.
she heads for the shop wearing her usual outfit of a thick sweater, jeans, and hiking boots, all of which would've been quite the scandal back home. but she takes another moment to be grateful that she's not home.
she thinks she sees him? and approaches] Hello, I'm Rose. Though, it's likely you knew that already.
no subject
oh now there's the right priorities. i'd finally get my first tattoo, damnit]I did- it's good to see you, please- [he gestures to the chair across from him, putting down his pen.
rose is a very interesting person to him, in that she reminds him of piltover but in a good way. he didn't typically look at piltover in the best light, too much bitterness under the surface, and it surprises him sometimes to find that yes, there are aspects he thinks he missed.
it doesn't hurt she reminds him a little of caitlyn, well mannered but always intent on what was ahead, what she could do. so the smile he offers is quite easily genuine.]
What you said before, I can relate I think. Knowing many people but few friends- I've found the struggle of this place makes it surprisingly easy to make them. [he offers in belated answer, a young man coming over with menus of various teas and snacks before leaving with a little nod.]

[they're like cats and potato chips, there's no such thing as only one][she takes the seat and folds her hands on the table for the time being.
she often fears that her own upbringing shines through even though she wants to be normal. but normal may be impossible here, considering the blood benefits she's acquired without asking for them. and every day, she wishes for Jack's company. she knows he'd adapt to life in Trench just fine and she also knows that Trench can bring people back from the dead. she doesn't think she's asking too much.
if she was, it was because of what she lived through on the Titanic, after she met Jack. he'd provided the spark to bring her back to life, to remember who it was she wanted to be as opposed to who others had tried to turn her into.
and her smile is genuine as well]
Yes, that's what I've found entirely! We're all doing our best to survive extraordinary circumstances, that makes it far easier to bond with others. [she takes the menus she's offered and surveys the list of pastries with a look of curiosity and relief] What's an almond croissant?
no subject
at least it comes with a variety, and he decides to just go with a strong black tea to see how it tastes when presumably made by professionals and not his own bumbling attempts.]
Oh, ah... they are a type of nut, they are- hm, mild I suppose, I think the appeal is the crunch. [he tilts his head when he thinks of how to explain it.] Would you like to try it? I can get something you are more sure you will like so we can swap if you decide you loathe it.
(CW: food policing, body shaming)
she orders an Earl Grey, pleased that even in this odd place, they have it]
I think I would. I love croissants, even though Mother would tut at me for having them. [too fattening, mother would say. she was already plump enough, said mother] And, we could do that if you don't mind? I wouldn't want to put you out.
no subject
All the more reason to get one I would say- and not at all. [he waves a hand before glancing over the list, humming before tapping one of the offerings.] Would a chocolate scone be acceptable for potential trading?
(CW: backstabbing as a term)
All right, I will. [she says with a decisive nod] Entirely acceptable. I may wind up stealing it anyway. [and she chuckles]
no subject
[he shakes his head, but the waiter is back and he makes his order, that scone and a plain black tea, offering a grateful nod before turning his attention back to rose.] Ah, you are here for a reason though. Let me show you my notes so far of bloodtypes.
[he pushes the notebook he was messing with over, turning to a section with a few pages of notes. paleblood gets the most, largely things like the powers he's seen manifest in himself and others, how the moonlight seems to give palebloods strength, mentions of paleblood gems and the trance they can sometimes pull people into. a general idea that paleblood governs the mental it seems, more on the side of the emotional, psychological and psychic.
there is a decent section for darkblood too, mentioning telekinesis, the inky color, how apparently people says it tastes like berries but that's probably bullshit in his humble opinion. that it 'doesn't exist' in the body until a wound is made, which also gets some general 'that sounds like nonsense but okay' notes from him. sadly the coldblood and vileblood sections are fairly minimal.]

[she's mostly interested in her fellow Palebloods, herself. Most of the people she knows are Palebloods. but she still has yet to really attempt the hallucination part of her abilities. she wonders how it is that she'd be kept from falling victim to the same hallucination in the end.
and she thinks that the idea Darkblood tasting like berries has to be nonsense, too. and what keeps them alive if their blood is more of a sparkly substance rather than having the general consistency of blood.
as for Coldblood and Vileblood...she can't be that interested unless they overlapped with her situations]
cw: classism! prob for any part of the thread talking about rich people/piltover too lmao
a small exhale- no, don't get too bitter. if he did he isn't sure how he'd climb back up.] Precisely. Piltover had the expectation that it was somehow rude to clean your plate, it drove me mad. All the pointless rules around eating and standing and how even to look at another person- bah. Stifling and dreadful.
[but here comes their orders, and viktor nods in thanks to the waiter. he pushes his plate a little more central with a gesture of 'have as much as you'd like,' since he's never minded sharing. the tea is better brewed by someone who actually knows what they're doing, he has to admit.]
I've been trying to understand what exactly connects each bloodtype to others of the same. Mass hallucinations of the same thing? It's odd that such a thing could somehow be encoded in our blood. Oh, the notes are not here but I am also looking into lunar orbs and their light being used to help bolster the health of palebloods, since the moon itself seems to.
cw: classism! prob for any part of the thread talking about rich people/piltover with body policing
Same where I grew up as well. But what was the point in serving good food if we could only pick at it in small bites? Whenever I tried to finish my plate, mother would tut about my weight. So many rules, being expected to smile and look pretty without a single worthwhile thought in my head. And corsets! Gah, I hated corsets!
[she appreciates that. it's worth indulging now and then, especially since the bulk of the food was fish. everyone knew that fish was diet food. and the tea is wonderful, especially after she added the smallest bit of honey]
As have I and it honestly makes me wonder. Mass hallucinations, well, that sounds unpleasant at best. What I'd like to know is how they managed to one, turn us into squids and two, bring us here in the first place. I refuse to believe that all of us were secretly squid, even back home. And yes, I've felt remarkably energized this month. Like I could bathe in moonlight forever.

[he shakes his head. no thanks, arranged/plotted marriages.]
That I am not sure of. I would say one of the most likely explanations is a magic of this place is able to imprint our memories and personalities into a new form, which eh... leaves a lot of questions about the theoretical 'soul' and what not.
But yes, as have I. I am hoping lunar orbs have a similar effect, it would be one perk to the nonsense we go through as palebloods. [wait until Bugs. he's probably going to call rose to complain about that soon enough in may.]

[but everything was put in fast motion after the death of her father and the revelation of how much he owed to how many people]
A new form? For example, after we died? After we became beasts? Both?
Yes, the mushrooms are positively ridiculous. If I didn't hate mushrooms before, I certainly do now! [not if she beats him to it]

[just genuine curiosity there- this is such a different place than the world she seems to come from, rather a 'safety vs freedom' sort of debate. then again hopefully she was not so shackled she couldn't find some sort of freedom in her own world but still. curious.]
Several, really. Squids, how we die, beasts. Our form here, our actual body, is... uncomfortably fluid in some ways, if we are to believe most of what we're told.
Here is to hoping next month will be another easy one for the most part. [haha... poor summer paleblood child...]
